It's kind of hard to "set up sync" when all the instructions and suggestions say "hit the set up sync button," BUT THERE'S NO SUCH BUTTON. What's up with that?

Details? It's really simple: There's no "set up sync" button to be found in FIrefox 19 *anywhere*. And since all instructions begin with "Hit the Firefox button and then … (read more)

I have been looking through the documentation for the weave server and have found no way to modify how much history is kept the whole purpose of using the home server was so that i could put a enormous quota and save every thing securely and privatly. 60 days is a joke as I have to come back to projects a year or 3 later and have 200 or so tabs open daily across 4 browser windows per pc i use. I use seperate profiles for seprate aspects of life... ex hobbies vs coding vs work. each gets its own profile and sync account so that when i work on multiple systems or have to redo pc's its much easier to keep things sorted out.

when i left my job and gave them back my laptop i obviously kept the sync key and thought it would be fine to simply come along and enter the details into my new computer and away i go ... like i did when i got the laptop in the first place.

However when i entered all the information it said it had imported it and there were no links, bookmarks, password, history ... nothing.

Is there a way i can find out why this is happening. it can't have overwritten them as i selected the option to sync what is local and on the server.

any ideas.

I initially set up firefox sync on a computer, and synced my information to an Android phone. That computer stopped working, but the data is obviously still on the phone, and on the servers. I want to sync this to my new computer, but can't find a way to pair the device or get the recovery key from my phone. Any ideas?

Found the answer hidden in one of those threads. Here's the step by step. Go to the device settings page (not inside firefox) Under accounts and sync click the firefox sync accound Then you can click pair a device and enter the code from the new computer. Thanks for the help!

The main feature that attracts me in Firefox for Android is the ability to synch my Bookmarks with the desktop browser. It does synch the Bookmarks, however, the folder tree of the Desktop Bookmarks is completely messed up and out of order compare to the desktop browser, which makes it difficult to find what I need. It happens both on my tablet and my phone. And there is no option to edit the bookmarks (move them in the proper position). Why is it happening, and is there any way fix this?

Sync info doesn't stick on desktop and, a link shared on Android FF, where to find on desktop?

If you don't mind, I have two questions. The first is in regards to Firefox Sync on Windows 7 x64. Firefox 19.0.2 Windows will not save my Firefox Sync login. Every time I start my browser I have to put in the username/password/recover key.

Here is the context and what I think might be the cause of my problem. I was using a sync account to sync between Win desktop, Win laptop and a Win work laptop. Sync has been working for years without any issues prior to this, for me. Finally ditched Symbian for Android and I setup Firefox Sync on my Droid phone. Unfortunately, it totally trashed my bookmarks. So I unlinked all my browsers (and Android Firefox), restored my bookmarks from a backup and created a new Sync account to start fresh (to make sure no corrupted data was being synced). Since I did that, Firefox desktop will not save my Sync login info with the new account or the old one. I could rebuild my profile from scratch but I've been using this profile for a few years and rebuilding it will be really time consuming. If I have no choice, I will take the time from my vacation over the Easter break to do it, but man that would really suck as I was planning to leave laptops at home. So I would appreciate any ideas on how I can fix this without having to start from scratch?

My 2nd question is in regards to Firefox Sync on Android. Before I unlinked all my devices from my old Sync account I was playing with the share feature for Firefox Sync and couldn't get it to work. So my question is, If I share a link to "Firefox Sync" on my Droid phone, how do I access that link on a desktop? I couldn't find it anywhere.

Thanks!!

This is really strange and very frustrating. I have Firefox on a MBP running OS X 10.8.3, for which I created a Firefox Sync account. It seemed like the initial sync went through ok, until I tried to link my second computer, a laptop running Windows 7. Both are running Firefox 19.0.2. When I attempted to link the second computer, I continued to get a message to try again; then when I cancelled that process, and returned to the MBP, I noticed a notification at the bottom of the Firefox window stating that the recovery key was wrong. It says "Sync encountered and error while syncing: Wrong Recovery Key. Sync will automatically retry this action" with a link to the Preferences next to it.

I figured I did something wrong, so I went back to Preferences to reset the recovery key. I picked the option that said I didn't have the other device - because, if I tried to enter the 12 digit code, it would continue to tell me to try again. I reset the recovery key, hit Continue, and it seemed to reset - in fact, I saw just under the recovery key text box, it said that it was successful; but immediately afterward, I would be back at the Sign In screen and the newly reset recovery key would be in the recovery key box, but would say "Wrong recovery key" directly beneath it and the error notification at the bottom of the firefox window would reappear as well. I tried having my Sync account deleted and recreated but the problem still persists.

A couple times I seemed to notice an issue about Firefox not being able to connect to the Firefox sync server, but that was rare so I don't think that is the cause. Am I missing something here or is there something else I can do to get this reset and working? Thanks in advance.

I'm having this problem since few releases ago, whenever I start FF, it always fails to sync, showing this line on the bottom "Sync encountered an error while syncing: Incorrect account name or password. Sync will automatically retry this action". First thought that the prob was incorrect credentials, but I can freely log-in https://account.services.mozilla.com I tried unlinking and linking my device again, it still happens. I waited thinking that they'll fix this, from a release to another, today updated to the last version and it still happened.

Hi,

I've lost the original desktop device via which I had set up sync on my android device. Now I have a new desktop and I wish to be able to set up firefox on the desktop with that on the droid.

I am using "firefox v19" on android and the only option I see against sync is that in settings->sync->Mozilla Sync .. I see no options as listed here https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/add-a-device-to-firefox-sync

So my question is, how can I sync a device to that on a firefox mobile for v19 or higher. Please don't link to KB pages that have outdated information wrt firefox mobile since the UI is quite different in v19.

I use Firefox Sync across multiple devices at work and at home. My main computer, i.e., the original pc that all the data first came from and that I use to add new devices, is my work laptop. I'm being transferred across the country and will no longer have that laptop.

I need to somehow set up either my home pc or my new work laptop as the new main computer, but I don't want to lose any data. Should I export all the data from the existing work laptop and import it to the new pc, then set up Sync all over again on my other devices (Mercury Browser for iphone and ipad)? Or is there some easier way to do it?

Thanks, Jake
