not to many details except safari runs at 24 mbs download compared at firefox at 10 area... is there something that needs to be tweeked ... I checked around preferences... I don't think its my comp thats the problem after all one is working compared to the other .... Yes i have ran a virus checker . and it came up with nothing.... Can a loaded up browser keep from downloading quick ? thanks Jeff

No matter whether I am using FireFox on MAC or Windows my new posted home page is not showing up when I access the domain. The home page in question is only a jpeg image labeled index.html in the prime directory. The jpeg or "home page" is accessible and is coming up correctly in IE. I am checking it on a desktop MAC and a Windows 7 laptop. Again the home page is only one file.

I have two Mac G4 desktop computers and have always had autoscrolling Firefox. Now the feature is no longer working. I don't recall updating Firefox recently, but can't go beyond my current version, 3.6.28 because the machines are not Intel.

The autoscroll is very useful. I have tried checking the Preferences..Autoscrolling is checked. I have tried restarting. No luck. I cannot start in Safe Mode as there is no option for it.

If there is some fix for this, it's not apparent on the Firefox Help Website. So any suggestion that would restore this feature will be very much appreciated. It doesn't seem to be a plug in, or and add on. My feeling is there may be some resetting procedure necessary...but I have no idea how to do that. Again, help to restore Autoscrolling very much appreciated. It worked for years...all I had to do was press the middle mouse button. It could go slow and faster. Now what happens when I press the middle button is that I get my dashboard apps. Hmm.

Yes, I access the web, but not google since this afternoon. What is the matter with fire fox suddenly not accessing google anymore? As this is vital, fire fox is of no use if it cannot google search.

I back up regularly both as .json and as .html. With the .json back up, I remove the date each time I back up so there's an over-write and there's only one .json back up file in my Backup Folder.

I've never had to import bookmarks back into Firefox, but I've had a crash that's wiped out my Firefox bookmarks in the Firefox program where I kept the bookmarks in a very carefully indexed system of categories and menus that dropped down from the toolbar.

When I import .json or .html back into Firefox, will my menubars re-set to the way I had them? I remember from a long time ago using Safari, I restored backed up favorites, and what I got was a long list of titled links which wasn't anything like the way I'd set the favorites up in the first place. I hope I don't get the restoration like that this time with Firefox. In addition, when I press 'Import' from the file menu, I'm only given the option of importing from Safari. That's not what I want to do. I have "Backups" in a designated folder in my Documents in the Finder and that's where I need to pull them from.

There's something about "Profile" regarding Firefox that I've not known about that may have been something I needed to do in relation to Bookmarks.

I would appreciate any help you could provide to help me my bookmarks back in place.

PS Regarding "Troubleshooting Information". I had to do it manually because the function doesn't support my veersion of Firefox.

I don't see an "empty box above this text." The box above isn't empty. It contains my question.

So the following don't make sense because I already Pasted below.

   * Look at the top of your screen, and click the menu item called Edit.
   * A small box will open. Click on the item called Paste. Alternatively, type Ctrl+V or Command+V.
   * Some text will appear in the empty box.

I tried going to System Preferences/Accounts/Login Items, and Firefox is not checked "On" there. Then I tried changing my default browser to Safari instead of Firefox, but Firefox again launched automatically on startup! I have not added any new bookmarks. No one but me touches my computer, so nobody else could have changed a setting.

I tried to sign onto my Hotmail email account which I managed to do successfully. However, upon logging in a message came up asking me to upgrade my Firefox to the latest version. I clicked this option but the Firefox upgrade screen said my system does not support this Firefox upgrade. What am I to do? I followed instructions on how to export my Firefox bookmarks to a Bookmarks.html, BUT there is no Show All Bookmarks in my Bookmarks menu. I don't get it. I have a G5 Tower OSX 10.4.11 and am constantly receiving the yellow banner asking me to upgrade Firefox. Of course, Firefox Mozilla knows that I cannot upgrade on this operating system. If there is a way, please inform. Otherwise, what are my options, other than get a new computer. Or, obviously, change back to Safari which failed at playing videos. I have a MAc running OSX 10.6 with plenty of memory space available and an intel dual core processor. I hav tried multiple times to download Firefox 18 and according to the "about" tab in the FF windo, I am current. However, multiple sites on the web inform me my browser is out of date. What next?

Firefox 3.6.28 on Mac OSX 10.4.11 crashes a few seconds into trying to load Huffington Post - no problems anywhere else on the net. Cannot afford new computer with current software. Can I make it work with what I have? Thanks for the info.

I am running Firefox 3.6.18 on Mac OS 10.4.11. My precious bookmarks have disappeared. I find that the j.son documents in the bookmark back up file are blank. I have tried to access the places.sqlite files in profiles but they appear as jumbled code (some bookmarks from Safari are however there).Does anyone have any ideas how I can retrieve my bookmarks? I'm not technical so layman's terms would be appreciated.

Whenever I try to Like something on facebook, nothing happens, and when I try to comment, if I write further than the small existing chatbar, it will not scroll to allow me to see what I'm typing. When I hit Enter to make the comment, nothing happens.

I'm concerned that Facebook simply won't work properly for me because of my old version of firefox (3.6.28), however I cannot upgrade to a newer version because of the age of my computer (running OSX 10.4.11), and I'm not in a position to get a new computer right now, so I'd like to see if I can find a fix.

I have already tried clearing my cookies and cache, I've checked my plugins for problematic ones, including "Effective Measure Community Plugin 3.1.0 (by Effective Measure Pty Ltd)" mentioned in another thread (it wasn't there) and disabled those it listed as being known to cause problems. I've checked to make sure my JavaScript is up to date and enabled. I've tried turning off all add-ons, and the possible combinations of some on, some off. I've tried adding a cookie permission for Facebook. So far, none of these fixes have been effective. I haven't been able to try troubleshooting in Safe Mode, because the option to run in Safe Mode is not listed under the Help dropdown menu.

Is there anything I haven't tried that anyone knows of for fixing the issue, or is my browser simply too outdated?

I have a Mac G5 with OS 11.4.11. In order for me to upgrade to the latest version of Firefox I would have to install a new system. If I install a new system I have to install all new programs. Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, GoLive and other CS programs, plus PowerPoint, QuarkXpress , and many others. I can't afford to upgrade. I really like Firefox but what am I suppose to do?
