I installed a fresh copy of Linux Mint 15 (Cinnemon) recently. It comes pre-packaged with Firefox, but after setting the homepage back to the default (about:home), I noticed that the search bar on that page wasn't working. By that I mean the form does not submit neither by pressing Enter or clicking the "Search" button.

I've removed all add-ons, removed and reinstalled Firefox a few times, tried the Reset feature, deleted and recreated profiles, manually reset config options to default, and anything else I could think of. Nothing has helped.

Some users with a similar issue have mentioned that deleted chromeappsstore.sqlite helped, but this file is never even created for me. Additionally, localStorage["search-engine"] is undefined according to the console, yet Google is set as the defaultenginename.

Any ideas on what else to try?

have a corporate laptop that needs to use a corporate proxy when connected via VPN or physically to the corporate network. I use .pac format proxy in option of automatic proxy. When i connect to home network same proxy acts like no proxy, and in corporate lan it work as corporate proxy. But from home network when i connect corporate vpn then something go wrong. I can only access corporate links, not any exernal links like google. When i select RELOAD option in automatic proxy, then i am able to access internal as well as external links also. I assume when i connect to VPN, firefox do not reload proxy which he should be doing whenever netwok change take place, and that should be automatic. I have tried "reloadPAC" option with PrefBar tool, but again it's manual option. I want to automate it, like something done on OS level, which can trigger reload option whenever i connect VPN.

Any suggestion?????

We researched IE, Firefox, Chrome, Safari and Opera - looking for a common function key that was unused to utilize for our app's context help key - and settled on the F9 key. Is there a way to ensure that the F9 key-press can be passed to the page -- it appears to do nothing in Firefox, but is not passed to the page. -- Thanks!

I am using Firefox 21 on Ubuntu 13.04. When I go to the firefox marketplace and click to install an app I get the notification in the top left asking me to confirm that I want to install, I confirm but then nothing happens. I don't see the notification that the app has been installed and I can't find the app anywhere.

Should the marketplace apps work on Linux?

Any help would be great.

I am using Firefox 21.0 on Ubuntu Linux 13.04. Some pages come up with a message at the top of the page, "This page requires additional plug-ins to display some content." It doesn't say what plug-in or what kind of content, and the page looks normal -- no obvious missing parts. If I click on "Get Plug-in" a window comes up showing it is searching for plug-ins. It never succeeds and never stops. Usually after half an hour of so I click on cancel to get rid of it. How can I find out what plug-in it thinks I need?

under the information from the last problem report. crashes also happen after resetting firefox. crashes also happen when using ff in safe modus. Reïnstalation didn't solve the problem.

My broswser deletes Cached Web Content automatically. Earlier it was happening even when broswer was restarted but it got fixed when I did some tweak from about:config but still, when PC restarts, for the first time, the Cached Web Content is present there but if after few minutes I restart my PC, Cached Web Content shows 0KB i.e. is empty.

is it possible to set personal thumbnails in the 3x3 grid/ new tab view? E.g. I doN't want the current facebook page to be shown as a thumbnail but a big blue facebook-logo.

Does anyone know about an Add on that's able to do that?

One hour ago I was happily watching youtube videos under Linux using Firefox 20.0 and flash 11.2. I just updated firefox and it is now blocking my flash and prompting me to update. The problem is I can't update because 11.2 is the LAST flash plugin for firefox, there won't be any other version.

Is there a way to prevent firefox from disabling my plugin?

(Using doctype: ) If I have a div for example, the scrollTop and scrollLeft attributes always read 0 and setting them does not update the scroll of the div.

This is also the case in HTML4 Transitional doctype.

If you could please get back to me and confirm this as a bug or tell me the scrollTop replacement, I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

so I've got this add on where I can expand the usual 3x3 thumbnail grid in the new tabs view. But now I've got a bunch of thumbnails and I want to cluster them according to their content, e.g.: facebook, youtube, twitter, etc.--> should be in one cluster "social network"; ebay, amazon, etc.--> should be in one cluster "purchase"; android-forum, java-forum, mozilla-support, etc.--> should be in one cluster "programming" etc.

What's the best way to organize your thumbnails like that?

Automatic updates do not work behind proxy on Windows machines. Fix this Alot of applications can do this but neither Firefox nor Thunderbird can. Noone cares for your stupid decisions about FirefoxOS replicating ChromeOs which is money on the wind as well. But why not do something useful for ........

Yes i know, linux doesn't have this problem and its ok there but microsoft isn't so generous thats why many companies have to think of dirty way doing things. Thats the only thing i ask, one more dirty thing for dirty os, thanks.

For a long time I was happily using the smart keyword search. E.g. I had assigned custom searches to the letters "d","e","w". All of a sudden, they lead to different destinations. Whatever I tried to change them back - no luck. Please do not suggest editing the bookmarks or right-click/edit in the search toolbar - these actions have no effect. I have searched all the files in the profile folder as well as in the program directory for the urls. No result. Must be hardcoded or something. I don't want thefreedictionary.com, ebay.com and english wikipedia for these letters! What can I possibly do? Revert to an older FF version?

The genealogy site https://familysearch.org/search is stuck in firefox, even in safe mode.

This applies to linux as well as to windows 7, 64bit, enterprise (FF20.0.1).

The page opens and the blue search bottom is stuck with "Loading". Normally it shows "Search"

The site is working well with IE9.

I selected to sync everything, but when I view my quota, my add-ons are always using zero memory. Everything else is non-zero. I'm using only a few add-ons, but they are very important to me, and I want to sync them to my other computers.

I did see a similar question earlier which suggested to wait an hour. I have waited overnight.

Interestingly, right now my server quota shows that my tabs aren't using any space either. This is a step backwardes, as last night tabs were occupying space.

Tested across 3 different computers with Linux on them, results are consistent and aggravating.

OS: Linux Mint 13, Ubuntu 12.10 Firefox Version: 21

Any page that I navigate to that responds with a 503 error is blank. There is no warning page, no information provided at all, just a blank page. As a web dev who works with load balancers, this is aggravating as all hell.

Any fixes?

If I try to go to a URL or use the google search bar at the top of Firefox my computer loads the webpage forever, but if I open a new tab and go to google I can go to any other website (now that I think about this its probably my DNS) any ideas? Thanks in ahead

The only icon visible on the toolbar relating to the facebook messenger is the facebook logo icon, which allows to login/logout and show/hide the sidebar, the other 3 icons should be visible also but are not?
