On my Win XP system (running SP3) I currently run Firefox V3.6.28. I want to upgrade to the latest Firefox version that will run on this system. Will my options/preferences settings be preserved in that upgrade, or will they be wiped out?

Longtime FF user. Still on 3.6.28 mostly, due to my need for my large collection of hierarchically organized bookmarks. I have 2000+. Trying FF 19 today. Successfully imported the json file from other system. Via the Bookmarks menu, Show All reaches Library view and everything is there. Except for the fact that this FF design will not let me see the contents of more than one folder at one time. Which is why I've stayed with 3.6.28. Now, a friend has shown me that I can see multiple folders AND the contents of multiple folders using Sidebar Bookmarks, just as I wish. Great! But after importing my bookmarks, all I see is a random list of bookmarks in the Sidebar view. There are no folders or subfolders so with this view I lose all the organizational structure I see in the Library.

Am I missing something? Is there a way (an addon) that would put everything in the Library Right Pane? instead of just one folder? That would be fine.

OR

Is there a way to preserve the organization of my bookmarks after importing them, in the Sidebar view? That would also be fine.

I tried going to System Preferences/Accounts/Login Items, and Firefox is not checked "On" there. Then I tried changing my default browser to Safari instead of Firefox, but Firefox again launched automatically on startup! I have not added any new bookmarks. No one but me touches my computer, so nobody else could have changed a setting.

I followed instructions on how to export my Firefox bookmarks to a Bookmarks.html, BUT there is no Show All Bookmarks in my Bookmarks menu. I don't get it. I have Firefox 3.6.28, which is the latest I can install on my PowerPC OS 10.4.11 Mac. Thank you. I'm stuck without my Firefox bookmarks on my new iMac OS 10.8.

Hi, the box that appears is the 'opening firefox setup 18.0.2.exe' I only have the option to save the file http://download.cdn.mozilla.net, or cancel. No run option or where its downloaded to.

Any help to upgrade to the latest version welcomed.

I have a G5 Tower OSX 10.4.11 and am constantly receiving the yellow banner asking me to upgrade Firefox. Of course, Firefox Mozilla knows that I cannot upgrade on this operating system. If there is a way, please inform. Otherwise, what are my options, other than get a new computer. Or, obviously, change back to Safari which failed at playing videos. And now, I cannot even play videos with Firefox linked on FaceBook to youTube.

I have Firefox 3.6.28 still running daily on my PC under WinXP. Do not ask how old it is.

The one and only reason I haven't updated yet is that my favourite extensions does not work on newer versions. It's a very time-consuming process to find, install, and configure them, and since Firefox's main release frequency is constantly increasing, I can never tell how often will I have to do the same task of several hours in the future, if I want my Fox to be up-to-date.

This is why I do not update.

A few weeks before I ghosted my OS and tried to update Firefox to the latest of that time, but the results were so poor that I restored the full backup quickly.

One reason why I do not put my extension list here in the first post initially is that I think it's not the proper way to get the missing info I need if I have to compose a forum post, interact with others and wait for answers to get my Fox being updated properly. The other reason is that I do not post because I want my problem being solved by others, but rather wondering the community's opinion about my question.

Updating Firefox properly is a very time-consuming and annoying process.

I would like to change my primary browser from aol to firefox. If I download FF , will my access to aol be compromised? Will I still have access to aol e-mail folders and messages after the switch. My e-mail address is - - -@aol.com. Will I still be able to use aol when I want just as I do now? I have windows xp home edition 5.1

Firefox 3.6.28 on Mac OSX 10.4.11 crashes a few seconds into trying to load Huffington Post - no problems anywhere else on the net. Cannot afford new computer with current software. Can I make it work with what I have? Thanks for the info.

Everytime I open Firefox I get two tabs starting. One is my regular homepage and the other is https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/plugincheck/. I fixed the one plug in I wanted to fix but now I can't get rid of the plugincheck tab. The "Automatically check for updates" is disabled in the Tools-options-advanced-updates section of FFox but the extra tab persists.

Basically fire fox will open to the homepage and that's it. If I type in the search bar or link/navigation bar and hit enter, nothing will happen. Clicking on a bookmark or a link from the history will not do anything. FIrefox simply will not respond. Using another browser gets working results, so my internet isn't the problem.

I went back to firefox 3 to get things working again. I Tried to re-install firefox 18 again and everything installs correctly but NOTHING works.

So any help would be appreciated.

I installed firefox 16 on my laptop, before that I had version 15 and everything was just fine. after insalling the update, some problems came up. first, there is no homepage shown when I start firefox, even though I picked that in the options

second, my bookmarks-toolbar is not shown, I have to disable and enable the bookmark-toolbar to see my bookmarks, that is due every time I close firefox and open it again

third, it seems to me that pages load slower, every new page needs a few seconds to appear, using version 15 page loading was much faster

fourth, there never appears the adress of the internet-page I go to, it always just says "go to a website" so it is much harder to find out the adress of the site

fifth, when I go from one page to another, I can not go back but have to look for the site, for example when I look something up on google and pick a page to look at, to go back to my search results I have to start the search again

I hope there are some solutions for my problems
