I have a series of questions related to the OS dictionary and about looking up the definitions of words and spelling. With Safari I could use Command+: to turn on Spell checker and loved using it. I have spell checker turned on with FireFox via Preferences/Advanced/Check my spelling as I type and like the other method better. I suppose I could get used to the method FireFox uses, but don't understand why cmd: can't work too. I even went in through system preferences and added it as a keyboard shortcut for Firefox without success. I dont' see anything in the pulldown menu's using that key-combination so what's blocking it? Another important feature that doesn't work is I can't click on a word to look up the definition. That's an important feature and I use it often. Because of these I stopped using firefox and continue using Safari even though Safari doesn't work for a main site I visit. Safari is also generally slow and locks up constantly causing me a lot of grief. If the problems I wrote about worked I wouldn't use Safari again and would commit to using Firefox. I would appreciate knowing how to do what I'm trying to do. Thanks,

I switched to outlook instead of hotmail, and I downloaded firefox as instructed, but each time I sign in to my email account it comes up download firefox now or continue on without, I want the firefox but am unsure how to get it to go....why do I keep getting told to upgrade if I already have?

have downloaded new firefox (have firefox icon already on desktop MAC) in second step I try to drag the icon into the application icon and get message that says it can't because firefox is in use; bold text

It is just a search bar in upper right hand corner. I did not install it and cannot delete it. I saw it mentioned on the internet that it might be connected with a malware. I don't remember where I found a list of search bars but I even clicked on the box to remove the 'complitly' search bar but nothing happened. I have used several scanners looking for malware but nothing shows up.

Tools | Opts | Sec | Remember Passwords is checked. Tools | Opts | Sec | Saved Passwords displayed old password info (passwords which had bee changed long ago). Nothing in Privacy is set to clear passwords ...

In the last few days, I frequently am receiving Connection has timed out messages when loading pages. It does not occur on all pages. I just got that when coming to the forum. Click the retry and it immediately loads. How do I correct?

I've a novel's chapters in pdf and only there. I need to send my book to a publisher in Word. I don't want to retype -- it's 186K words. I can't get my book out of pdf. Has anyone else faced this?

I hate tabs and have not upgraded to the newest version of Firefox because the Tab Killer add-on does not work on newer versions.

As Firefox is so customizable, how do you turn off tabs in the new version?

Firefox crashes on startup after upgrade from 3.6 to 11.x (I think it also crashed when I tried upgrading to 10.x when that was the latest). Also crashes in safe mode, so I guess the plugins don't matter? Also crashes running firefox.exe -p Doesn't create a crash report. No error message and no window appears before the crash. Just the windows message saying it crashed. Still crashes after a clean install. Works fine after I reinstall 3.6 back in. OS is Vista. I don't have any of the programs like roboform on that list of programs known to cause issues.

Any ideas what else I can try to debug this?

I've been having a problem with sending/receiving text messages in Yahoo Messenger and I think I've narrowed it to the prefs.js file in Firefox. I'm using Firefox 3.6.25 on Windows XP sp3. The Yahoo Messenger window would not open when the appropriate mobile phone link was clicked. I uninstalled/reinstalled flash without change. I cleared cache, etc., without change. I created a new Firefox profile and I was able to get the Yahoo Messenger window to open. When I copied the prefs.js file from the old profile to the new profile, I encountered the problem again. I opened the prefs.js file with wordpad and noticed that editing should occur in about:config in the currently running Firefox browser. I briefly compared the two about:config tabs from the working profile and the non-working profile. They were significantly different. How do I make a copy of one so that I can paste it into wordpad and make the editing of the other one easier? Where can I find information about the individual parameters and their settings?

I don't want tabs in my browsing. None. I'm sticking with FF3.6 & Tab Killer until someone solves this problem - and I reckon there are a lot of other people sticking with FF3.6 for the same reason.

I want new pages to open in new windows so that the close button top right works EXACTLY THE SAME WAY AS THE REST OF WINDOWS. I want Alt-Tab to switch between my open web pages EXACTLY THE SAME WAY AS THE REST OF WINDOWS. I don't want to waste screen real estate on a Tab Bar I've got no interest in using. I don't want right-click menus infected with tab options, especially when you put the Open in New Tab option in the wrong place back in FF4.

And yes, I AM SHOUTING. This should have been made a valid option years ago.

If you're unwilling to build it in as a standard feature, at least build us an add-on to do the job...

...and you wonder why so many people stick with FF3.6...

I used version 3.6.25 and everything was fine. I kept getting prompted to upgrade so I finally decided to do it. Now certain wesites load with the right side of screen empty. So I uninstalled it and reinstalled 3.6.25 but it is still happening. I have tried all the suggestions I could find on support forums and nothings works. Does anyone know what is wrong and how to fix it? I run Windows 7 64-bit

i'm running ff 3.6.25 and can't install the yoville zynga gamebar the message i get is as follows:

i installed it on my mom's pc after installing ff to it and it worked fine.

The night that Firefox apparently stopped distributing Firefox for Mac 3.6.25, I had a computer crash that corrupted my copy of 3.6.25. I tried to go to the FTP site to get another copy to reload (using Safari) and the FTP site is apparently gone and Firefox will not let me download that version of Firefox. I'm limping along on Safari and can't update even my corrupted version of 3.6.25 because my processor won't support further updates. I NEED 3.6.25! Is there anyplace that I can get it? What can I do? My corrupted version of Firefox 3.6.25 doesn't work correctly. It opens improperly and doesn't work when it does open.

I am using a Mac OS X v. 10.5.8 no Intel. In attempting to set up a web page on Yahoo, I was directed to upgrade Firefox, which tried to do. The download went on for 20 or more minutes, so I aborted only to find that all my apps had been raided and now have only a number, zero bytes for each app.
