When I type a url or paste in one and hit enter, the enter key is not recognised and nothing happens. it wont load. If I use a bookmark and click on a saved url that will load automatically. Have uninstalled and reinstalled firefox and it hasn't resolved the problem.

XP sp3 4gb ram Firefox 6.0.2

Firefox crashes every time I do any of the following. Then I have to force quit Fire fox.

If i click a download link on a web page, Firefox freezes the instant I click the link ...but Firefox does not freeze if I click a web link on a web page or page navigation link.

If i go to the Menu bar > Tools > Options, Firefox freezes the instant I select Options from the Tools menu. ...but Firefox does not freeze if select any other item from the Tools menu.

If I go to the Menu bar > File, Firefox instantly freezes the instant I select either "Save Page as..." or "Open file..." ...but Firefox does not freeze if I select any other option from the File menu such as: New Tab, New Window, Send Link, page Setup, Print, Exit etc

If I go the Menu Bar > Bookmarks > Show all Bookmarks > Import and Backup, Firefox instantly freezes the second I select "Import" or "Export" ... but Firefox does not freeze if I select any other command in the Bookmarks sub menus, nor does it freeze if I back out of the menu entirely.

Same as above for History if I select "Import" or "Export"

...so I have isolated the problem to a limited number of commands in Firefox that cause Firefox to freeze... described above. Everything else in Firefox works fine.

HERE IS A SUMMARY OF WHAT CAUSES THE FREEZING: • Clicking a download link on a webpage • Going to the Menu Bar > File and selecting "save as" or "Open File" • Going to the Menu bar > Tools and selecting Options. • Going to Bookmarks > Show all Bookmarks > Import and Backup and selecting either "Import" or "Export" • Same as above for History if I select "Import" or "Export"

Everything else in Firefox works fine. I went through every menu command and checked for freezes. Only the commands I mentioned above cause the freezing.

I tried the following to try to fix it:

• Reset my modem and router (Problem still exists)

• Uninstalled FF. Deleted folders, profiles (Downloads.sqlite), Registry entries. Reinstalled. (Problem still exists)

• Restarted FF in Firefox safe mode. (Problem still exists)

• Restarted in Windows Safe mode and then started FF in Firefox safe mode (Problem still exists)

• Disabled Window firewall. Disabled ZoneAlarm firewall, Shutdown ZoneAlarm firewall. Set Internel Options to default settings. (Problem still exists)

• I reset the config option: browser.download.manager.scanWhenDone to false

What does work? • Firefox does not crash when I click a link an go a website, navigate a page, use a menu item command.

• Firefox works fine on my other computer.

• Internet Explorer works fine on the computer that Firefox is having a problem on.

• My other applications work fine on the computer that Firefox is having a problem on.

I want to add that, I just overcame the XP Recovery Virus by following a post that suggested running the following software to fix the virus. Everything seems back to normal except Firefox.

The software I ran to fix the problem are listed below: • malwarebytes • superantispyware • ccleaner • combofix. • smart defrag • then load a good anti-virus. (I ran Zone Alarm virus scan)

I hated the new version (tabs above everything) so went back to old version. Now I keep getting the reminders. How long can I safely use my old version. And is there hope for future versions going back to the tabs UNDER the URL line??? Is anyone else as frustrated as I was?????

I upgraded to v8 and haven't been able to read my emails since. The headings are there but not the body. I reloaded an older version but they're still gone. At one stage I couldn't even open FF. I had to reinstall IE9 for various reasons and I can see the through there OK, but FF has been my default browser ever since it was launched and I want to keep that way.

I have problem downloading application files including updating Firefox and Adobe plugin and any online games. There is always this message prompt as below:

This link needs to be opened with an application. Send to: "c:\Program Files (x86)\Media Finder\MF.exe" "%1"

Please advise what to do.

my browser left off to work with a magazine and book-marks and gives out a report: "Work with a magazine and book-marks is not possible, because one of files of Firefox is used other application. Such is during work of the protective programs".

My toolbar bookmark icons change constantly, and it's been getting worse lately. Gmail seemed to be the first, but now many more are changing. I delete titles for these so I can cram many of these onto the toolbar, so it's really important. After I click onto one of these errant icons, they will sometimes re-establish themselves, in Gmail, for example, after signing in. Other times they don't.

I closed Firefox. When I restarted it, it did not ask me to restore session and all the history and bookmarks were gone. The backup arrow button does not work. When I went to the options to reload the backup it gave me a list of 5 backup date. When I tried to restore any of the, the message the the backup file could not be used. Help

I read many of the complaints from others already trying to use your defective new system. I am not going to struggle to make a system work. If you don't fix the problems, I'll find another system which is user friendly.

Hi, so I recently used Firefox 4+ for the first time, and I like the way it puts the "Open link in new tab" above the "Open link in new window" (when one right-clicks on a link). It takes a bit of getting used to at first, but it's actually a lot more efficient and practical.

But here's the issue - I'm often going back and forth between my one computer which has the newer version (7 I believe - they're coming fast these days!) and my other computer which still has FF 3.6. It gets confusing switching back and forth.

So is there a way to adjust the settings of FF 3.6 to put the "new tab" above "new window" (like it is in FF 4+)?

Of course I know the easy reply is to go ahead and upgrade everywhere to the newest version, but this computer uses Linux and I'm happy enough with the overall setup, don't wanna mess with new repositories and everything, so I'll probably stick with this version until I upgrade the OS in another year or so.

So does anyone know a way that this can be adjusted?

I often like to have a lengthy article read to me out loud with a voice that I choose from the many voices available with my Mac. Does Firefox have a text to speech feature available to me as a 'tool' that I can easily access and use?

Before I test any version of software for my windows XenApp servers, I download from my Linux box then test on my Virtual windows instances that I run. Many of my users use firefox from our citrix servers, and one of our internal PHP servers is coded specifically with firefox in mind! Testing has now become a problem since it is definitely NOT obvious how to download a different OS of the firefox browser! Would really like to be able to go to the file download area for other OS's! Just point me in the right direction...

Sometimes they get moved somehow. If I search for the name I have given the bookmark, it comes up, but doesnt tell me WHERE it is filed, in my many bookmark folders, so I can move it back where it belongs. This can happen to an entire folder, and can take FOREVER to find where it has been moved to. When it comes up in a bookmark search, clicking on its' properties also does not show where the bookmark is LOCATED.

I run firefox 3.6.22 I Have the google toolbar installed igoogle is my homepage

igoogle is signed in and when I start up firefox it starts up as it should and and logs in. On my home page I can access my mail etc. The problem is that the google toolbar is no longer automaticaly signed in. When I try to sign in it acts as though it is signing in but it dosent. It dosent say that the pasword or user name is rong it seems like it is loging in and dosent notefy me of any problems. I cant seem to fix this

When I use Firefox, I usually have a bunch of tabs open. Sometimes I have a tab open as a reminder to look further into the subject, or I plan on going back to it to finish reading whatever it was. Before, if my computer would restart due to updates, when I started Firefox up again, it would say "Well...this is embarrassing" and allow me to reopen all the tabs I once had. This no longer works. I was even able to close Firefox through the Task Manager on windows, and have the same result. Now this doesn't happen. So I tried to close it and it asked to save my tabs for the next time I open Firefox. It doesn't save them, as it's always just my homepage and I never see an option to recall the old tabs. I even set the settings to "When Firefox starts: Show my windows and tabs from last time." This also does not work. I'm getting tired of having to remember all over again what sites I had up. Usually they aren't something that I need bookmarked, so that's why I don't do it. Also, it would really clutter my bookmarks if I did. Please help.
