Why does the iconised firefox window use a 256x256 bitmap? (Firefox 18.0, Centos 6.3, TWM)

I'm using twm on a new installation of Centos6.3, with Firefox 18.0. When I iconise the Firefox window the resulting icon bitmap (as used in twm's icons) is a rather large 256x256, rather than more usual sizes around the 16 to 32 mark.

I get the same effect with a remote session where twm is running on an older FC11 box but Firefox is running on the Centos one. In contrast, with Firefox 3.5.5 on the FC11 box the icon sizes are small as expected (and desired).

Investigating with xprop, I see that the _NET_WM_ICON(CARDINAL) property is set on the newer firefox and contains an entry for the 256x256 bitmap. It /seems/ like this bitmap is compiled in as renaming /usr/share/icons/hicolor/256x256/apps/firefox.png did not change the situation, and that was the only large firefox icon that I could find in the filesystem. Is there any way to tell firefox not to provide this large bitmap as a potential icon for the window manager?

EDIT: A satisfactory workaround in my case was to use ForceIcons as explained by AndrewA below. After inspecting the TWM source I found that the window name matching could be done on the WM_CLASS data as well as the name, so simply using "Firefox" as the string to match against works. Thanks again to AndrewA.

Downloaded Firefox 14.0.1. Would not install. Got message: "This version of Firefox requires Microsoft Windows XP SP2 or newer."

I have dial-up and it took an hour to load, now it won't install. Very frustrating, particularly as I have Windows XP. Why won't it load?

Thank you.

I recently upgraded from 16.0.2 to 17.0. The fonts used by firefox in the toolbar and the names on the tabs have changed to a dirty, bold look. I do not like it. In 16.0.2 I am using the default theme. In 17.0 I am also using the default theme of 17.0. I am running Windows 7. Since my home and work machines have similar configurations, the work version (still 16.0.2) has the nicer looking fonts. If this antiquated system allowed one to attach screen shots, I could visually show the difference brought about by the upgrade to 17.0

How do I get back the application fonts that were used in 16.0.2?

firefox prevented this page from auto redirecting to another page I get this message every time I go to new search page. I am so F-ING tired of pressing the key allow it's not funny. Can't Fire fox remember the dam pages I go to? Every freaking time I go to a new page that props up and I have to click allow. I would like to get rid of that for good so if you can help me that's cool if not then good bye. I go to explorer for browser. I can't take it anymore. Plus when I'm reading that page moves up again and I have to click allow again.

Websites such as the Firefox/Google search page and DeviantArt keep insisting I have the old version; I don't!
