I have updated my computer to the 17.0.1 several times and I keep getting the message that I STILL need to update. I am getting sick and tired of doing this and if It will not work then I will delete Firefox all together. After installing the new version I have also restarted my computer each time as well

I click on a file within a website to open it, but the pop up box does not have the "open with.." option, only the save option. The file type is a text document with the extension ".prg" which is associated in my Windows Folder Options to open with Wordpad. Within Firefox Tools/Options/Applications, this file type does not show up, so I cannot change it. I read elsewhere where this is blamed on MIME type in the HTML header, but Microsoft Internet Explorer gets it right every time, only Firefox does not recognize the file type.

As an aside, the same site has files with the extension".chg" that I open with Notepad. Firefox gives the "open with" option for these files, with Notepad as the defauld, but the "Always open with" is greyed out. Not that I care, as the default is what I want, but....

After the FF17.0.1 install I installed Firebug so I could test some things. Then I created bat files so I could run FF17 and my original FF3.5 separately and simultaneously.

However FF3.5 (using the profile originally from FF3.5, but briefly used in FF17) cannot see Firebug and any attempt to install Firebug ends up with nothing changed in the UI.

I've tried going down that list and trying the ones claimed to be compatible with 3.5: Firebug 1.5.4, 1.5.3, 1.5.2, 1.5.0. Each time it says it is installing it, asks me to restart Firefox for it to take effect, I click [restart], it does so, but Firebug never appears - neither the icon in the lower-right in the status bar, never under the Tools menu... not even in the Extensions list in the Add-ons dialog.

When I do "about:config" and "firebug" several things come up - the first being "extensions.bootstrappedAddons" and that includes an entry for firebug - bug it claims version 1.11.0 - of which there is none in the addon pages. I tried editing that to be 1.5.0 (last install) and quit/restarted FF, but to no avail.

Any other ideas?

I have done it more than 3 times, also have refreshed the firefox and restart the computer and nothing works. the latest version keeps downloading incomplete and cant use it.

I use firefox a lot and sometimes my hands must be very quick and I need short key I want to know is that possible to change short key to your wish in firfox? is that possible to change the right click menu short key to?

for example I want to change the short key for (copy image) that is (right click on picture and press Y)

I don’t like how new version firefox looks I mean they placed the tabs on top of the page and it is stupid because the address bar is the most important in a browser like a door for a house and in new version the address bar doesn’t have a good view and it is totally unusual and different of any other software even in windows address bar is just behind the tool bar but I don’t understand who came up with that idea and because of that I don’t like new versions. Can some body tell me is there any version that looks like version 3 or is there any way for me to changed the bars locations or using a theme or any thing please help me I want to go for new versions but I don’t like how they looks.

my firefox speed turned down from 2 days ago but before that it was ok and as the same as my bandwidth and my speed still is like before when i am using a download manager but in my forefox browser is turned down to less than the half. for example it used to download 30 kb every second but now is 5 or 10 kb per second.I Don’t think the problem is about the operator because it is good when I am downloading with download manager. You know it reminds me the problem I used to have when I was using IE 7 years ago and because of that problem I decide not to use IE any more and start using firefox .the problem was a virus named IE.exe or Iexplorer.EXE or something like that. That virus will turn down you internet speed to half when using the IE and I solved that with malwarebyte but I never used the IE from that moment any more.

I believe that I am running the latest version of FireFox (v17.0)

But several sites (PayPal, Facebook, etc.) are telling me that I have an older version and may not run correctly on their site.

What am I missing?

I downloaded version 17 today- -i checked it several times-and tried unpacking it 3 different times--thinking it shorted out somewhere and didn't tell me Facebook has been telling me for weeks that I have an older version of the browser that doesn't support FB and I should upgrade. Tried to add a persona and get this message This Persona requires Firefox 3.6. You are currently using Firefox 3.5.7..

Please help! I can't watch your videos because dial up is so basic. I am home with health problems so going out now to coffee shops, etc not possible. Thank you!

I recently upgraded from 16.0.2 to 17.0. The fonts used by firefox in the toolbar and the names on the tabs have changed to a dirty, bold look. I do not like it. In 16.0.2 I am using the default theme. In 17.0 I am also using the default theme of 17.0. I am running Windows 7. Since my home and work machines have similar configurations, the work version (still 16.0.2) has the nicer looking fonts. If this antiquated system allowed one to attach screen shots, I could visually show the difference brought about by the upgrade to 17.0

How do I get back the application fonts that were used in 16.0.2?

Google+ and Facebook keep telling me I have the wrong version. Here's what "About" says: 16.0.2 Google+ won't allow me in at all. Facebook give me this message: "You may want to upgrade your browser. You're using an old version of Firefox that is no longer supported and may be insecure. To upgrade, open Firefox's Help menu and click Check for Updates..." 2-3 weeks ago, my Task Manager quit showing itself except for a line on the bottom. And once as I was shutting down, I had to end the aforementioned file. My computer gets hung up for short periods occasionally, and sometimes, runs slower.

i down loaded the latest version. selected run and the install bar shows installed. I can find version 16 if i use the search function. It's there. I just can't get it to run. do I have to uninstall all previous versions and start from scratch?

I am currently running Firefox 3.5.3 and when I try to upgrade, the message is that I'm not eligible to install the new version. I've tried Firefox 5 and Firefox 6. Would 4 work for me? And where do I find it?

several times a day, Firefox goes from version 15 to 3.6.

I started Firefox this morning and it was 15

I closed Firefox.

I reopened Firefox and it then told me that there was an update to 3.6??

I closed it and came back later and it was v15 again. Then happens regulary and I am constantly being told that there are updated here and there.

I only have 15 installed. No version 3.6 in Add/Removed programs etc.

This is crazy stuff.

Yesterday, I completely removed all traces of Firefox, I also deleted all Firefox folders.

I reinstalled 15. It worked for the day.

I opened it this morning and 3.6 was back andasking for updates.

Please fix!

Others in my office have similar issues it seems.

All of the sudden my stumble upon has quit working and I'm not sure why. When I try to stumble it says my browser version needs to be updated yet I have done nothing to change anything to make this problem happen. What do I need to do and how do I fix this?
