Bought new laptop & want to transfer favorite places over to new laptop.Firefox --->Firefox but if I did register in the past I do not have any record of user name or PW. A computer man who has since moved to MO, I think installed Firefox for me. I know the Internet and e-mail and a little excel, access and Quicken but after that IM not too computer literate for an old guy. Is there any way to find my user name and pass word on my existing Firefox? Or would Firefox have a record of it. I think it might have been 2005 or 06 when Firefox was installed. My e-mail is Sxxxxxxxxxx@aol.com or bxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx@aol.com. I could have used either one if I registered but when I was filling out the previous form, sxxxxxxxxxx@aol..com appeared in a little box when I was part way thru typing my e-mail address. If there was way to transfer favorite places in AOL to Firefox, I would then be able to get rid of AOL. Only reason I kept it was because all the US Sailors in our USS Grand Canyon Sailors Organization had my AOL e-mail and I was the treasurer for ten years. Older gents don't like much change so I left it the way it was. Guess IM getting the same way. One browser-Firefox is all I need from here on out. I use the password remember thing a lot and have a lot of passwords saved in Firefox. But those passwords can be seen by just clicking a button, not very secure... To solve this I enabled the master password, it solved the problem but now I have to enter the master password every time Firefox starts.

Is there a way to enable the master password only at the 'show passwords' button but not at startup or anywhere else?

Next to Bookmarks and before Tools there is a Yahoo! drop-down menu. I want to get rid of it. Also the I Already Have An Account link did not work so I had to register again to ask my question!

I have a number of documents I want to embed in webpages for easy access. These are PDFs generated with pdftex locally under MikTeX. They use Adobe Minion Pro font. They render flawlessly in Adobe Reader, Sumatra, PDFXchange, and in Chrome (with its built-in viewer). They are also fine in APV PDF Viewer (MuPDF library) and PDF to GO (Documents to Go) on Android . . . you get the idea. But in Firefox they render interspersed with random characters. Example pdf and screen captures available (I don't see a way to post them).

In the meantime I've replaced the PDF.js with the Adobe Plug-in which fixes the issue for me. I'm concerned about others who may visit the site with Firefox as the default setting leaves these documents all but unreadable. Must I alter them to use a different font in order to preserve compatibility with pdf.js? Minion is widely distributed and well regarded (and not cheap) it would require significant adjustment to the formatting as well . . . Please advise.

Hello, I recently was notified via the Firefox Plugin checker that my version of Silverlight was outdated. Going to the site linked, I made an attempt to download the latest version. However, upon making this attempt, I was informed that my browser did not support the 64-bit version of Silverlight. Not only that, but it now appears that I no longer have that plugin. Thus, I have a few questions- 1) Do I even need Silverlight? I can access YouTube just fine (video and sound plays just fine barring issues that have more to do with the age/wear of my computer than anything) 2) If the answer to above is "yes", how do I get Silverlight back?

After my laptop crashed, I am attempting to retrieve my bookmarks off my old hard drive (which is now an external). Nowhere in any of the package contents or folder locations are there any of the file types mentioned in other articles (.json, .sqlite), and the only profile information I can access leads me to a blank backup which was just created as I opened firefox for the first time. There are no visible backups of my bookmarks ever being automatically saved, as suggested. So, after wasting a large portion of my time trying to do what should be the simplest of procedures, where are the old bookmarks supposedly stored?

For the last few days my Firefox does not display the downloads window. I have tried to follow the suggestion set out in Firefox Help ie Tools --> Options --> General

But my General Tab doesn't show under Downloads the option to check the box "Show the Downloads window when downloading a file". Under Downloads, the only option shows "save files to Downloads" and "Always ask me where to save files".

Any suggestions on how I can get to --> Downloads the option to check the box "Show the Downloads window when downloading a file".

I'm securely connected to my (self-hosted) webmail. https://webmail.whatever.com I've tried to access the SpamAssassin Configuration option within it but I get the following.

You have asked Firefox to connect securely to mailboxes.whatever.com, but we can't confirm that your connection is secure. mailboxes.whatever.com uses an invalid security certificate. The certificate is only valid for the following names:

 *.dreamhost.com , dreamhost.com  

(Error code: ssl_error_bad_cert_domain)

I understand why I'm getting the message, but how do I add an exception when the option to do so is not showing as it usually does? I can try and use the non-secure URL for my webmail, but I'd rather not and I might get the same results anyway.

Previousl each new tab showed my honme page which is the Google search engine, now after the first tab all ensuing tabs show the damned BING search engin which I do not want. I have reset Google as my home page disabled and enabled a abunch of stuff and cannot get this to fix. This is damned irritating.......

Banking web site has a "Print - Friendly View", text on the upper right side of the page which prints out the account information in a different format if you click on the text. All other print functions work ok. The problem is not their when using Internet Explorer. The other program is at Aflacs Web site, and the problem is very similar. When I click on the text that says "Print copy of Invoice" nothing happens, just like the bank text. They both work perfect with Internet Explorer. The problem started about 2 days ago. When it works right, a window will open up and show you what it is going to print and you click on the "print" text, and it prints. Any help with this problem will be greatly appreciated. When I select an MP3 file from a podcast site instead of offering me the option to download or automatically downloading, it starts playing in some default player. I almost always want to download so I can play it in a better player that won't crash when I stop and start it often. I have a Razr HD and have this problem with Chrome also. My old Sprint EVO 4G browser would always ask if I wanted to download or play the file. It was great! Please help!

Firefox 19.0 locks up when trying to load Facebook. This started yesterday, March 5 at about 1300 hrs PST. After a long delay, a Warning: Unresponsive Script dialog appears, saying that "A script on this page may be busy or it may have stopped responding". The script listed is https://fbstatic-a.akamaihd.net/rsrc.php/v2/yH/r/LEOX0R6UVT4.js:16. Clicking either Continue or Stop Script has the same effect: the entire Firefox application remains frozen. After several minutes, the same warning box appears again. The only way to escape the situation is to force-close Firefox. The crash reporter never appears.

Facebook loads normally in both Chrome and IE8.

I use Aol and Mozilla Fire Fox. When Aol set it up for me all my contacts were transferred and copied to Firefox. Today I went to write an e-mail and ALL my contacts in Firfox are removed and not by my doing? Why would it do this and how do I copy them from Aol to Firefox again. Thank you

My Norton 360,flashes up a message saying updater,exe is safe.So when I download the latest Firefox update My Norton stops me opening my browser!!

Whats going on,I deleted the update and then the browser opens again!!

Any ideas,I haven't had this before,when updating Firefox,and this does not happen on my other PC my laptop is Windows Vista SP2 AMD Turion x2 processor 4gb ram I

Hello, since today, before opening a pdf document, I reach a dark page where I have to click to activate the Adobe Acrobat plugin. I have Adobe PDF Plug-In For Firefox and Netscape 10.1.5 and I knew it was outdated because I check regularly the "check plugins" page, it used to be simply paired with the yellow button and that was all. Today I get black screens whenever I try to view pdf in Firefox and I have to click on them to view pdf. From the Add-ons/Plugins control panel I know see a warning red writing above the plugin entry stating "Adobe Acrobat is known to be vulnerable and should be updated". I cannot seem to update because I have Adobe Acrobat X pro, and I don't want to install the reader or purchase the newest version of the pro suite. My Pc runs with WIndows XP SP3 and is quite old, all other plugins are up to date, including Java and I don't want to use the new FF built-in pdf reader.

Any suggestion as how to disable the warnings and vulnerability screens or to update the plugin without installing Adobe Reader? Thank you

So like any good Firefox user, I regularly check my plugins. On today's checkup, here's what I got: http://oi48.tinypic.com/j0ird1.jpg. Note that it is Adobe Acrobat/PDF plugin/whichever that needs updating, and also note the version.

Now, here is the first issue at hand- When I go to the link that the plugin checker provides, it seems to offer an older version, as opposed to the one I have (so again, note the version): http://oi50.tinypic.com/w9bbkz.jpg

The second issue at hand is this: Upon testing my version to see if it worked, not only did the Adobe site say that my version was working, but I was also able to pull up my college class notes/coursework, which are in PDF form. I may not be technically savvy, but I would think that if my Reader/PDF plugin was out of date, I would not be able to pull my PDF-form coursework up. I can also pull up PDFs on other "checker" sites too.

So, in short, everything seems to be up-to-date, but even after restarting my computer, the plugin checker still says I need an update. So, what's going on and how do I fix it?

Using Firefox version 19.0.2 on MAC. Appears message: "Although this page is encrypted, the information you have entered is to be sent over an unencrypted connection and could easily be read by a third party. Are you sure you want to continue sending this information?" In preferences there is no option to choose what warning messages display or not display. Through about:config tried to change security.warn is set to 'false' by default; security.warn_viewing_mixed - too set by default to 'false'.

I just loaded windows 8 onto my system and placed Firefox version 19. as my web browser and went to Youtube and updated flash to the Version it was looking for which in this case is 11.6 r602 and now everywhere that I go on the web the plug in pops up says it fails and locks up my firefox. I have done what the suggestions have said

1. Made sure system was up to date 2. Lowered hardware and flash acceleration 3. changed firefox settings 4. have done numerous re-installs of firefox and flash

when i open firefox an advertising box for value apps appearrs&will not go away by using the usual methods .you can get ridd of it by going to the privacey bar &cancelling the add but every time i come back it reappearss.i just cannot unsubbscribe or canncell.please help . my security cant get ridd of it .it is driving me nuts.
