I added an extra toolbar to FF a long time ago... I added absolutely loads of button icons to it for all sorts of functions. Largely out of the Customise set. Now the whole toolbar has disappeared. It is not there to re-tick in the Toolbars options. The Firefox help and Community Support items on related problems don't cover this. I can create a new toolbar of course but it would take hours to re-find and place all those icons. And I really don't want to Reset Firefox until I know I definitely can't recover the lost toolbar, for the same reason.

2 Feb 2013 Concerns: Firefox 18.0.1 often freezes, at random times, since about 31 Jan 2013 I am using Mozilla Firefox 18.0.1, Windows Vista, PC, Desktop. My Mozilla Firefox freezes since about 31 Jan 2013 at random times quite often, when I do see TV or videos, also with YouTube videos. It freezes especially when I do start TV or a Video, sometimes also it freezes when the video is running for some time. I do use Firefox mostly only for TV and videos, so else I do not see. Some days earlier (26 January 2013), I had installed the upgrade of the new Norton Internet Security 2013. The two Norton add-ons on for Firefox, I have both deactivated. I can get out of the freezing, when I do click to end the Internet connection. After I have waited for about 5 seconds, the Mozilla Firefox browser can be moved again with the cursor. After I click to close the Firefox, and wait for about 5 seconds, the freezing also does end. I did do two Windows restores, one to 1 week ago and the next to 2 weeks ago. After the restore, when I started Mozilla Firefox, it was at first Firefox 17. But to my very bad luck, Firefox started immediately to update to Firefox 18.0.1 I had seen this updating on Help – About Firefox. There were good times, when people could choose themselves which version of Firefox they wanted. After the restore, I had also downloaded the latest Adobe Flashplayer version (about version 11.5), but the freezes have remained the same. Is there a possility to prevent the automatic update of Firefox? So that I could choose which version of Firefox, I do want. When there is a serious bug in Firefox, I could nevertheless use Firefox instead of changing to the Internet Explorer. I know I myself am responsible to prevent hackers from entering my computer. I have read that 80% of users in Germany do not have any Internet Security against hackers at all. My Internet Explorer until now does not freeze.

I have a new laptop, and i am frustrated. I have installed Waterfox (cause of 64 bit version), sometimes it works, but in the evening, it won´t. Then I installed Firefox, but it´s the same as Waterfox. Is it possible, that both are not good for Laptop or Windows 8? My PC works right with these browsers. And then I tried the Private Browsing, it works with both browsers. I can´t understand it.

I want to upgrade to latest version but -Help/About Firefox- window does not show "upgrade" as in the instructions. I cannot find an "upgrade" function anywhere else. How do I upgrade? The version I have is -18.0.1- it came with this used computer.

I believe this computer was hacked. Word started doing very strange things. We wiped the hard drive and reloaded everything as it was originally when I bought it. I am now getting hacked online.

They originally got into one of my credit cards last fall. That is when this all started. They got my AOL email address. They also got the credit card current balance, minimum payment, due date and then even the payment amount. They got into my Barnes & Noble account and now checkout does not work. Now I believe they have gotten into my AOL account - one thing after another has started going wrong. I cannot change that AOL user id/email address since it is the master and I would lose about 15 years of "stuff".

The folks that sold me this computer told me to use a free version of an antivirus. I am very unhappy with it. I never had ANY trouble when I used TrendMicro's expense products. Those folks also told me to use Firefox, since AOL uses Internet Explorer - which I already knew is like Swiss cheese.

Now, I cannot seem to get an upgrade of Firefox. Is this also a hack?

Please help any way you can. Thank you for your time.

This problem only occurs in my laptop not on desktop. Both of them brand new and this problem occurs when there is a new version of firefox. I always do a manual update when I know there is a new version of firefox. I update it and it brings up the new version.

But when I go to add/remove program I can see there's two version of firefox i.e. Firefox 18.0 and Firefox 18.0.1. So I have to again uninstall firefox and download and re-install firefox. Why is this the case? For the desktop it doesn't happen like that? When i do a manual update from desktop it install the new version and in the add/remove program i can only see version 18.0.1.

I just updated to the latest version of Firefox (18.0.1) and I find that I can no longer navigate to fully half of the sites I used to, such as Gmail and Facebook. Most of the sites I go to now don't even look right, they just display text, no UI. Even as I type this up, there's only text. I tried to use Firefox's own tool to find which plugins I had installed, and it gave me the same "This connection is untrusted" message. Most of the sites I got to allow me to make an exception, but Gmail doesn't, nor does the Firefox plugin page. I've used Firefox for years but this is the first time I've ever had an issue like this.

Hello, I've been using Firefox since a long time but as I remember it only appens since I've updated Flash to 11.3 ( I currently have 11.5.502.146 installed. So when I go on youtube for example to see some videos it works find but when I pause the video, wait a few seconds and then want to continue it the sound isn't there anymore.

I wonder why it only happens when I do such things. ( I checked the sound level from Windows but it wasn't muted . )

EDIT : I don't know if it helps or not but Flash works fine in Opera 12.11 x64 .

if firefox is open and system goes into standby, whe I return from standby (press power button on front of machine and then log in) firefox is unresponsive. Sometimes it will go to a new web page if I click a link in the open page, but the link fails to change color. And it is very slow. Other times it is completely unresponsive. I have to close it and then restart it to get it to work. All open tabs are then lost. Tried resetting and disabling all add ons/extensions. problem began when updated to v18.

9 out of 10 times my download gets truncated in Firefox. For example, let's say I was downloading a 42.2 mB file, it would get to about 42.18 and then complete. I would then try to open the file to find it was corrupt. I would then open up IE9 and download the exact same file, and I would get the full 42.2 mB and the file would open flawlessly. I have tried disabling all extensions/addons, nothing. I have reinstalled Firefox cleanly a few times, no dice. I have tried disabling any file system protections I have, nada. I'm at a loss right now as to what else I can try. I love Firefox, I've been using it since it's original release, but I need to be able to download. Every other browser I've tried works great in that department, except for Firefox all of a sudden. Anyone have an idea?

Windows 7 Professional 64-bit FF 18.0.1

My home page is set to www.yahoo.com When I click on the home icon (or type the same address in the Address bar), the address bar changes to http://www.yahoo.akadns.net/ and the server not found ff built in error page displays I have the live http headers add-on, and there is no actual http request sent.

FF simply will not let me reach www.yahoo.com by typing in the address bar, it always 'rewrites' the address as http://www.yahoo.akadns.net/

I can reach www.yahoo.com in other browsers, via dns (nslookup), and other yahoo addresses (e.g. my.yahoo.com). This sure sounds like malware and is a bit frightening

I just updated 18.0.1 last night and the problems began immediately. Even this site I had to allow as an exception then when it loaded it has no colors, no menus, etc. This is happening for facebook, parts of amazon, etc. I get "This Connection is Untrusted" when I try to load gmail, log in to Amazon, trying to load this support page, etc. However I have no problem with google.com, wiki, and other random websites. I need this fixed as soon as possible, I have a deadline for my job and can't open my email to send files.

I am relativity tech savvy, but reading through the forum about firewalls, and such did not help me. I'm completely lost, panicking and three seconds away from just completely wiping my computer.

Flash just started causing Firefox to freeze (not crash, therefore; no crash id's (Correction Below)). It was working fine until an hour or two ago. Also, Firefox now freezes on other sites. This just started less then 30 mintues ago. It seems, there are a few ways to 'temporarily' fix the issue, but it always occurs again immediately. First, if I use task manager to end the Adobe Flash process, Firefox unfreezes. Second, as far as it freezing on other sites, the only way to unfreeze Firefox is to end task on the Plugin Container for Firefox process.

I find it weird that this just started happened with no cause. I have not made any changes to my computer in months (neither software nor hardware wise) and I know I don't have any virus' or the like as I keep that very well in check.

As far as what I have done to 'attempt' fixing this issue, I have already tried updating Flash, downgrading Flash to 10.3, upgrading Flash back to 11.x. Restarting Firefox, rebooting the computer, booting into safe-mode, running Firefox in Safe-Mode, uninstalling & reinstalling Firefox (with a reboot in between). Nothing has fixed this issue. Any help would be very much appreciated.

P.S. I have no issues of any kind in IE, Chrome, nor Opera so I know this is a Firefox issue.

P.P.S. Checked about:crashes and found that Firefox actually made crash information on the flash plugin (but don't see one on the plugin container issue). Anyways, it was throttled so sent it on. Here is the information on that;

https://crash-stats.mozilla.com/report/index/939e22d2-0cec-45f5-8838-a4b4f2130126

Keep in mind, this was before I reinstalled Firefox, no new entries since reinstall.

Hi,

Whenever I move the mouse in Firefox 18.0.1, the firefox.exe process jumps from 0% to 30% CPU consumption. When other stuff happens that requires CPU resources I experience a drop in responsiveness, so please don't tell me that 30% is acceptable ;)

I made a default profile to test this. I also disabled plugins and tested in Firefox safe mode. I'm running a 3 days fresh install of Windows 7 64 bit, fully updated. I installed Acronis True Image 2013, if that matters. Firewall and antivirus are disabled. Slowdown occurs even on about:blank pages, however when I'm moving over Firefox options pane, CPU jumps by 10-15% instead of 30%, which I guess is a little more acceptable.

It doesn't happen with Internet Explorer, whether 32 or 64 bit. It doesn't happen with any other program, though few are installed, except a 10-15% increase in Kaspersky Antivirus 2013 UI. I personally don't expect more than 5% increase in CPU consumption when I move the mouse over something. Kaspersky menus are way more animated than Firefox though, so I'm not sure the consumption I report is related to my issue.

My mouse is an EssentielB, model Mulo XL, product code 825258. It's a wired laser USB mouse with 2 extra buttons that do previous/next in Firefox, and 2 other buttons that change mouse speed.

It didn't come with any separate driver, was automatically recognized by Windows and works fine. However I'm using a laptop, and moving the mouse cursor with the touch pad increases CPU consumption by 10-15% instead of 30% with the mouse. (as I said, this is better but still a lot)

Hope you can help! :) If you need more info or that I test something, please post here instead of emailing me as I do not check that mail box. Thanks!

EDIT: The troubleshooting information says 0 / 1 window is hardware accelerated, but that's only because Firefox was running in safe mode. In normal mode the problem of course persists yet hardware acceleration works properly.
