I have the same problem as https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/881844 but with fx 21.
Firefox 21 on Ubuntu 13.04 stops loading pages after a while, ranging from less than an hour to a day, of regular browsing. It gets stuck on "looked up whatever.com" or "connecting to..." message. Restarting the browser makes it work for another period.
Changing network.http.max-connections did not help, clearing various history items (cookies, cache, ..., or everything except saved passwords) did not help.
I now disabled ipv6 https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-cant-load-websites-other-browsers-can?#w_ipv6 and prefetching but the fact that the problem occurs after several hours makes it hard to test.

I recently updated to 20 and my spellcheck context menu has vanished.
What if you aren't even given the check spelling or languages menu option yet the broken red line under mispelled words occurs and no spelling suggestions made when right clicking on those words?
Some additional information:
In my about:config i do have the following in bold: spellchecker.dictionary;en-US user set string en-US
(I want spellechecking EVERYWHERE, how do I implement that?)
Also there is this: http://trac.xinha.org/ticket/1119
I do not have xinha installed but the behavior is similar. I get the lines, but no options.

Is there a way to prevent firefox from disabling my plugin?

I used to run Ubuntu 12.10 & Aurora 22 on my computer. Recently I've updated my Ubuntu to 13.04 beta, and ever since that happened, every website I try to go to (including Google search and so on...) shows "connecting..." for about 20 seconds before finally showing any content. My connection speed is 20 Mbps and Chrome works fine. Downgrading to Firefox 20.0 didn't solve it. Neither using the "Reset Firefox" feature nor safe mode solved it.
I absolutely love Firefox, been a fan of the browser for years and I'd hate permanently moving to Chrome. Help, please?

Since upgrading to Firefox 18 from Firefox 17, the fonts look very blurry when a page is loading. This can be the same webpage, or a different webpage in another tab.
If the webpage loads quickly, it is difficult to see the blurry fonts. However, it is specially noticeable if I am reading an email in Gmail, and then start loading a page in the background (e.g. by middle-clicking a link in an email). The fonts of the email will become very blurry.
This does not happen if zoom is not enabled. However, obviously, I need zoom enabled as the fonts are too small otherwise.

just installed FF 18.0 on Linux (Centos 5.8) where 17.0.1 has been running fine.
I always install in a local (to my login) directory, and have a desktop launcher to start it. I download each .tar.bz2 FF package to a subdir, where I unpack it, overwriting whatever was already in the firefox directory in that location.
doing that, I get the error above. so I renamed the directory and did a fresh extraction into the firefox directory that tar creates when unpacking the archive. SAME PROBLEM.
moving that directory aside and re-extracting the 17.0.1 archive yields a working Firefox.
What can I do to solve this problem?
the troubleshooting info below came from FF 17.0.1, since FF18.0 doesn't work.

On my Linux Ubuntu system with Firefox 17.0.1 (and with several earlier releases, eg 12-16 I think) after a few weeks the tab triangle or arrowhead on one or more Firefox windows becomes defective. This problem is different from http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/931515 in that if I restart the browser and resume the Firefox session the problem goes away for a while. (Note: I will wait until 05:00 UTC on 28 Dec before restarting FF to clear the current instance of the problem, in case anyone can suggest other relevant tests or data.)
The main symptoms are these: Triple click no longer slides the list of tabs all the way left or right. Double click appears to work once (from an extreme end). Single clicks step the tab list one tab at a time up to near an extreme end but then stop working before the extreme tab becomes visible. The following paragraphs give some more details about the symptoms.
When the problem occurs, tabs for new pages (eg reached by links from the right-most visible tab and opened in new tabs) do not become visible (that is, are not squeezed into the list on the tabs bar). The right-facing triangle, although not grayed out, does not make the tabs for the newly opened pages visible, but seems to have no effect. Clicking the X for the right-most visible tab closes that page and then one of the tabs that are "hidden out to the right" becomes visible, but other tabs out to the right remain inaccessible.
Meanwhile, the tab triangle arrowheads continue to work ok on other FF windows. For example, the left and right tab triangles in this current FF window (where 15 tabs are visible for 17 pages open in the window) are working fine. But in the FF window with the problem (where 15 tabs are visible for 40 pages open in the window) the triangles stop working one tab too soon: they don't give access to the leftmost or rightmost tab.
Note, clicking + (Open a new tab) jumped the list to the right end, with the new tab and an empty page visible; but after I clicked the left triangle three times, so that the new tab scrolled off to the right, no matter how many times I click the right triangle, that tab remains invisible, even though the webpage for it is still visible as the currently selected page. Opening a URL from command line acts the same way.
The system runs Linux 3.2.0-35-generic #55-Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS x86_64 system with Firefox 17.0.1. I don't remember when I first encountered the problem but believe it was in 2011 (vs 2010) on a Fedora 7 system. Restarting FF has always cleared the problem. The command line "echo session $DESKTOP_SESSION desktop $XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP; wmctrl -m" produces (in part)
session ubuntu-2d desktop Unity Name: Metacity
"top" shows, in part:
PID PR NI VIRT RES SHR S %CPU %MEM TIME+ COMMAND 3033 20 0 2158m 1.1g 38m S 7 28.7 3878:21 firefox

After the last Firefox update to Firefox 19.0.2, I got the error message "Couldn't load XPCOM" when i attempted to open my Netflix Desktop App, I did not get that error message when starting Firefox only when trying to open Netflix. I thought it had something to do with Netflix so I removed it then reinstalled but the error message continued. I searched and asked questions to no avail. I did a command line search: "locate /xpcom" It came up with a list of files relating to xpcom, only one refering to Firefox itself and they all ended with xpcom.dll. When i did a search in the File folder I found this: usr/lib/firefox/libxpcom.so .
One of the people trying to help told me this: "The error is caused by the lack of the path "/usr/lib" in the environment variable LD_LIBRARY_PATH Solution Add the /usr/lib path to the environment variable in this way: export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/lib:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH"
I was informed to do the following:
"Get to a command line prompt (CLP) and use gedit to add that line to your .bashrc file: your.account> gedit .bashrc when you're done, just save and exit. Log out and back in, and from then on whenever you log in, it will be in the LD_LIBRARY_PATH for you. You might also want to copy .bashrc to some sort of saved version; I use bashrc.sav."
No change.
I have done a reinstallation of Firefox and numerous reinstallation of Netflix all with no change.
Is there a chance that a complete removal of Firefox followed by a reinstallation correct the problem? i don't want to do that unless it is the only solution.

Not really a question, more of a plea...
Firefox 18.0 crawls on my machine. Not the browsing as such; that's only a little slower than 17.0.1 (still noticeable). I'm talking about opening and traversing menus and entering text in text fields on sites. I had to go back to 17.0.1 as it was just too annoying. This is on Linux Mint Debian Edition (Debian Testing), using the nl localized Firefox downloaded from the Mozilla site. Switching off extensions and/or using a new profile didn't help. If this doesn't get any better in following versions, I'll have to look for another browser when 17.0.1 becomes too old. Please don't make me do that. I've just tried Chrome and quite frankly, it's a bit of a joke...
