Opening PDF's outside of the browser is not an option for me. I specifically need the Adobe Reader plug-in to function, allowing me to open (and more importantly) edit PDF's in Firefox for a reason. Whenever I download/open in Reader, I am unable to save my changes or data entered into form fields. Typically I open the PDF on the website I use for work (Form Simplicity) and edit the form fields there, save it on the site, and then email it from the site for eSignatures. If I can't save the information put into the PDF then it defeats the whole purpose of trying to keep the process electronic, rather than on paper. Please help me find a solution. I have uninstalled ALL BROWSERS, Adobe Reader, Flash, run the Adobe Creative Suite Cleanup tool just in case I had left-overs from a CS5 trial, and reinstalled everything from scratch. Problem still remains. Is it simply the fact that I'm using a Mac?

I use Firefox on a Mac (Snow Leopard) and I recently updated Firefox to version 18.0. After I updated, Firefox will freeze everytime I go on Facebook and I would have to force quit it. One thing I noticed is that it crashes when almost everything is loaded but the chat. Does anyone know how to fix this?

I want to make webcrawler.com a search engine option in my Firefox search box. But when I use the "get more search engines" command, webcrawler is not listed among the options, and when I search for it in add-ons, no dice. Thanks in advance if you can help with this.

If i load up youtube, click on a video it plays normal, its loading, sound is working. but when i open a new tab and then go back to the youtube tab my video stutters, or i could basically say it stopped its les then one frame per second and it skips about 50 frames everytime. sound most of the times does work but also stops sometimes. It only happens when changing tab, not if i scroll down on the videopage or anything. its really annoying. i've tried google chrome and safari aswell, all works fine.

have you heard this before, is there anything i can do?

This occurs with any download of any type on any user in my building. I have created a brand new user, installed a brand new copy of Firefox 20, and the issue persists.

If I click download on a file, I get the normal Open with / Save as dialogue; however, the Open with radio button is greyed out, forcing me to save.

I just upgraded an old MacBook from 10.4 to 10.6 + updates. I can finally upgrade my Firefox from version 3. But from within Firefox 3 itself I don't seem to have the usual options to check for updates and install them (maybe they weren't invented yet in 2004). So, I downloaded the installer for Firefox 20 "manually" and was about to drag Firefox.app into /Applications, when I had a moment of doubt about simply overwriting the old Firefox.app. I know updates applied from within the program don't clobber preferences and bookmarks, but when that's not possible, is the installer from scratch just as kind? If not, how do I save them to be reimported once I've upgraded Firefox?

I have a Mac. Recently upgraded to Snow Leopard with the intention of upgrading further. Had some issues with Firefox and slowness so started my computer with the Operating System disk and repaired the disk. In theory, successfully. I had downloaded the latest version of Firefox prior to repairing the disk. It was showing up in the folders of other applications and in it's folder is a copy of all of my applications.

Now since yesterday I'm missing all of my bookmarks, toolbar, history and anything older than yesterday's usage. Is there anything I can do to get them back?

Every time I start my computer. Fire fox say something like. You did not close tabs. It ask if I want to restore or close. I find this very annoying. I've never had this happen before. It happening every time now. Why would you put out a product that's not working right?

When I try to attach a file I click attach and am able to select a file but when I try to send the email a box appears saying that the attachment is still downloading. I have tried leaving the email about 5 minutes before I send it but I still get the same message. If I do send the email it arrives without the attachment.

Every time I start my computer & open Firefox, instead of pulling up my home page, it acts as if it just crashed and brings up the page that shows it crashed/is trying to re-open my previously opened tabs. (Page displays: "Well, this is embarrassing. Firefox is having trouble recovering your windows and tabs. This is usually caused by a recently opened web page." Then it lists all the tabs I had opened the last time I had my computer on). I have deleted Firefox & downloaded a previous version, and that corrected the problem for a few days. Now the same problem is back. How do I fix this?

This has been a problem ever since updating from Firefox 8 to FF 10. I noticed that there was about a month missing from my history after that update. Checking my settings in 'about:config', there was no change in 'browser.history_expire_days_min' or 'browser.history_expire_days.mirror'. The value has been set at '720' ever since installing FF 3.6 over three years ago.

Admittedly, I don't install new updates the moment they become available... However, every time that I've installed an update, more and more of my history simply vanishes. Not a few days or weeks, mind you. but 3, 6, and even 9 months of history GONE!

I just don't understand why this option was eliminated from Privacy Preferences, forcing users to tinker with the settings in 'about:config' instead. Since users are given a warning before going on to the settings page, why would any programmer think this is a good alternative to the Preferences pane???

Now I'm down to history for February and March of this year... You can bet that I'm not going to be updating to any new releases for a very long time, if ever.

Frankly, I'm getting sick of this...

When I click on a link on a page, the page I am going to loads, but the address bar doesn't change. The address bar properly updates if I switch tabs and switch back, however. I am pretty sure that this is not due to my addons, because my friend, who uses about the same version of Firefox but no addons also has this problem.

I have Firefox 20 and OS X 10.6.8. And no matter how many times I've downloaded and installed Flash - successfully, it's telling me (it lies!) - it doesn't show up in my FF add-ons list. The icon with the curved arrow appears in my Apps, but clicking on it gets only the Install app. After downloading (and closing the browser), I've tried both opening it and saving it to HD, with no effect. It's just not there.

After about three repeated downloads/installations - all of which got me only the Install app - I uninstalled all of them and tried again. No luck, but the Shockwave plug-in disappeared from my add-ons list. I did the download/install from both a website with a video I wanted to see that told me I needed the latest version of Flashplayer and "click here" and from the Adobe site itself. No luck. When I go back to that website video, all I get is the message that I need Flashplayer and "click here" to download it.

When I check the status of my add-ons, Flash isn't there either. There are only three plug-ins I have enabled: Adobe Acrobat NPAPI Plug-in Version 10.1.6, Google Earth 7.0 (I almost never use it), and Java Applet 13.9.5. The status report tells me that Adobe Acrobat NPAPI Plug-in Version 10.1.6 and Google Earth 7.0 are "unknown" plug-ins with status "unknown". The ONLY other plug-in I have enabled is Java Applet 13.9.5 , and the status of that is "up to date".

None of the various troubleshooting processes have helped, and I've tried them all.

Print-outs using Firefox done on my Brother printer model MFC-J825DW come out with text missing and with margins way off and with articles beginning at the bottom of the page. When try printing out the same article with other web browsers, there are no lay-out problems, but the printer prints much lighter. How can I change the settings on Firefox so that these issues go away?

For the last few days when I send or receive an AOL email that was pasted from Word no text appears in the email. Using Firefox 20. If I send a email pasted from Word from my Gmail to my AOL no text appears. If I send and receive using Gmail, there is no problem. If I use Firefox 5.1.9 there is no problem with an AOL email.

I've just updated from OS X 10.5 to OS X 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard) and Firefox 20. Now every time I open a website or link I get an annoying "typing" sound effect when using Firefox. How can I disable the sound?

My only extensions are collusion and noscript, neither of which seem to be the source of the sound. I don't see any menu options to control the sound effect and it only happens using Firefox.

I'm using Mac OSX 10.6.8. Since the security update on April 16 I am not longer able to use the Java 6 plug-in. I need it for a weekly meeting with Microsoft Office Live Meeting. I have tried a workaround that suggested deleting the XProtect.meta.plist file, but that did not help. I understand there is a security risk, but it would be helpful if I could enable the Java plug-in just for my weekly meeting and then disable. Would the Java plug-in work if I upgrade to OSX 10.8 and installed Java 7?
