When I click on a Web page and am through with it, I want to close it and step back to the page from whence I came. I see no navigational means to do this on Firefox. The introductory tutorial did not cover it either.
It is completely fustrating to close Firefox and start over to get to the page before. So I am sure there is a way, it is just not obvious nor covered in your tutorial.

"Click the Bookmarks button Bookmarks button win 2 on the right side of the navigation toolbar and select Show All Bookmarks to open the Library window.
While you have the Library window open, you can also drag bookmarks into other folders like the Bookmarks Menu folder which will show your bookmarks in the menu under the Bookmarks button Bookmarks button win 2 . If you add bookmarks to the Bookmarks Toolbar folder they'll show up on the Bookmarks Toolbar. "

there is
bookmars toolbar

I want to create a icon on a users desktop that launchs yahoo mail in it's own instance. (User profile I guess)
Here's the background: I volunteer with a local seniors citizens organization to provide free computer support to seniors on a limited budget. Many seniors use yahoo becuase it was what they learned to use way back when and don't want to change. It is widely known that yahoo accounts have been subject to a recent spree of hacking using exploits, some of which do not even require a user to click on a link. I have seen firsthand 5 incidents where separate individuals using separate computers have had yahoo accounts hacked.
One of my clients was an ATT customer, thus entitled to phone support. In a recent conversation with ATT support who uses yahoo for their e-mail services, they told me they are aware of the problem and the best solution is to logout of your yahoo account every time you are done using it. This is problematic for Senior Citizens who can't or won't remember passwords, they want it to just work.
I began thinking that there must be a way to protect a user from at least some of these exploits. My finial idea is to create a desktop icon that will launch an instance of Firefox that is separate from the other websites that a user may be browsing. I think this could be accomplished using user profiles and some command line options.
Any other ideas? Extensions? I'm thinking of blocking flash and java on that instance too.

As I understood it, if I unselect the "Warn me when sites try to install add-ons" the browser will automatically install all needed plugins.. and I really don't want it to do that.

I "unknowingly" installed an extension/addon via Firefox created by brandthunder. I say "unknowingly" installed because somehow something an addon was installed called "Prestosavings." I use RoboForm and kept getting this popup message every time I tried to auto fill a form via RF:
The site domain does not Match URL of the passcard. Match URL:/https://savecdn.com/addon/coupontool2/iframe.php http://https://savecdn.com/addon/coupontool2/iframe.php* Site URL: https://savecdn.com/addon/coupontool2/iframe.php Do you still want RF to fill the form?
I was going nuts trying to figure out what was happening! A "coupontool2" addon? Whenever I see the word "addon" I automatically know it's a Firefox thing. I never installed that so where was it coming from? I opened up my Error Console from a few sites and found tons of entries referring to "prestosavings". It was as if my browser had been hijacked! I did a little research and found this: PrestoSavings :: Add-ons for Firefox https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/prestosavings/ I had never installed that addon! I opened up my Profile folder and dug through the directories for any sign of the "PrestoSavings" monster! VOILA! Hidden away in the Chrome folder in btpersonas@brandthunder.com Extension folder. Hmmm....The PrestoSavings iframe.php was loading on every page I went to when I checked each page source! Hmmm...PrestoSavings bundled into my Personas? Not what I expected! Not what I requested! I quickly uninstalled the "btpersonas@brandthunder.com (took about 3 tries!) and another persona/skin (had the icon of the PrestoSavings) and NO more problems with RF. Again.....I did NOT install this PrestoSavings addon but it was installed - somehow Mysteriously - when I installed the btpersonas@brandthunder.com.
I just wanted to post this in case others are bombarded by the same problem. Do with it what you will.
Sincerely, Corona

I use Fx 4. and Fx 10 ESR on XP Pro on different machines. When I try to signup for Persona Account, I got a blank page with no button for signup. I then tried IE8 at the site and I got a signup button on IE. But when I clicked to go to the next page, so I could create a Persona account, I got a blank page with a red horizontal line running across the middle of the page.
I do not have Flash Player currently on either version of Fx. Flash Player has been causing problems on Fx 10 ESR for several versions now so I have chosen to no longer install it until Adobe fixes the problems (if I really need flash player, which is not likely, then I can use it fine on IE). I have never had Flash Player installed on Fx 4 which is on a different computer.
I think Persona Account must require Flash Player because I do have Flash Player installed on IE 8 on one computer and I can see the image to click on to signup, whereas,I see just a blank page on both versions of Fx. Persona Account manages your passwords/logins and should be accessible from ANY browser you use. I find it hard to believe that Mozilla would require Flash Player to be on all browsers that someone has who wishes to use Persona for password management. I use SeaMonkey, Opera, Iron (privacy version of Chrome), IE as well my Fx versions which are my default browsers on the two computers.
So, is not having Flash installed on either Fx version the reason I get a mostly blank page at persona.org with no signup button visible? And why can't I get a signup box on IE where I at least get a button to click to signup?

I have 2 versions of FF, latest 14.x and also 4.0.1 which I want to keep. I start both with different profiles using path_to_firefox.exe -P profile_name -no-remote With 14.x I have no problems, but can't install any add-on in 4.0.1 - I tried installing from web or from a .xpi file - in both cases the download progress bar fills to 100% and then stays there forever, without proceeding further. Is there a way to manually install an add-on? By this I don't mean from .xpi file, but really manually - if I extract .xpi contents, where should I place the files, and which other files I have to modify to have an add-on working?
OS is XP sp3 pro 32-bit US-English
Thanks

Was watching bbc olympics on internet of Andy Murray live, then I went back to see last 5 minutes again (which had worked before also with bbc olympics and same Live Linux Mint 11 running Firefox 4.0.1) and then problem started. Since then I have had same problem with other bbc olympics videos or with youtube. Even recurred after restarting computer again with same live dvd -r even though I've been using this for internet over last months without problem. I notice that my modem can start flickering since I start videos and carry on flickering for a while after I stop video - but I don't know if that's relevant. I had thought this was to do with the bbc, but was then having same problems with youtube videos. Another thing might have been that I had earlier in the evening added the 'https finder .85' but this was only applicable during that session - unless somehow I've suffered repurcussions from the ISP for doing that??? Any ideas?
