I have a very old Thinkpad 600x that has a Pentium III (coppermine) processor. The current system requirements for the latest versions of Firefox reference a Pentium 4.
I'm currently running 3.5.13. None of the current add ons work with this version. What is the last version of Firefox that will work with a PIII? Operating system is XP, SP3. I want to install some form of Ad Block, and none are compatible with 3.5.13.

After the FF17.0.1 install I installed Firebug so I could test some things. Then I created bat files so I could run FF17 and my original FF3.5 separately and simultaneously.
However FF3.5 (using the profile originally from FF3.5, but briefly used in FF17) cannot see Firebug and any attempt to install Firebug ends up with nothing changed in the UI.
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/firebug/versions/?page=3
I've tried going down that list and trying the ones claimed to be compatible with 3.5: Firebug 1.5.4, 1.5.3, 1.5.2, 1.5.0. Each time it says it is installing it, asks me to restart Firefox for it to take effect, I click [restart], it does so, but Firebug never appears - neither the icon in the lower-right in the status bar, never under the Tools menu... not even in the Extensions list in the Add-ons dialog.
When I do "about:config" and "firebug" several things come up - the first being "extensions.bootstrappedAddons" and that includes an entry for firebug - bug it claims version 1.11.0 - of which there is none in the addon pages. I tried editing that to be 1.5.0 (last install) and quit/restarted FF, but to no avail.
I took a look at https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/unable-install-add-ons-or-extensions?esab=a&s=install+firebug&r=5&as=s But none of those are my situation.
Any other ideas?
Thanks!

I suddenly cannot insert attachments to outgoing emails in Windows Live Hotmail. If I click on attachments or any other tool in the insert bar, nothing happens. My wife's hot mail account on the same computer, using the same version of Firefox, works fine; my account works fine when I use Internet Explorer instead of Firefox. How can I fix this?
Thanks for any help.

I am a webmaster, and if I access the Google search engine at Google.com using Firefox my client's web page has a high rating. If I access Google search engine from any of the other browsers in the same way, the rating on the same page is much lower. Obviously, there must be different Google search engine outlets and the one Firefox accesses has given the page a higher rating that the others. If you can, please shed some light on this and let me know if you know any way that I might be able to get the higher rating I get from the Firefox source applied to the other Google search engine sources.
Thank you for your time Rpazz

I would like to export a folder (one folder only) of web page bookmarks so that friends can import it and have instant access to my recommended web pages.
I know I can export the whole bookmarks file as an HTML file, and I can edit that in notepad but I don't know how to save it back to a Mozilla bookmarks HTML file so that a friend can import it and find one new folder on his/her regular bookmarks folder - with all my helpful wep page bookmarks lined up neatly inside.
I also know I can edit down my bookmarks to just that one folder then export that - but I'm afraid of losing all my other precious bookmarks in the process.

At the end of my rope with Firefox now. I've tried using Chrome, but it's buggy as hell with some of my sites and logmein doesn't work well on it (I telecommute a lot). IE is pants as well, because... well, it's IE (no extensions, no bookmarks toolbar etc etc)
So - after much experimentation, and using Chrome/Firefox about 50/50 I've ditched Chrome altogether. However, I'm frustrated as all hell that Mozilla appear to be completely ignoring the obvious memory issues that have been plaguing FF for aeons now. 3.6 is unusable after about six hours - memory use constantly rises to around 380Mb, then maxes out one of my cores and the browser hangs completely. That's every signle version of 3.6 I've tried.
3.5.x is a little better - I generally get around 18-20 hours' use out of it before the browser hangs and I have to restart it. I need to leave multiple windows open for various monitoring systems - it's a major, major pain in the arse to have to restart it (especially since it takes about 30 seconds to close it down then kill the (inevitable) hung process in task manager then start everything up again.
I have tried leaving FF open overnight with anywhere from between one to five tabs/windows open - but every single time I check after they've been open about a day, sure as eggs is eggs FF has crashed. I've done all the usual crap (I wasted days if not weeks on it before I got so pisse doff I went over to Chrome) like disabling all add-ons, running FF in safe mode, checking all my plugins are up to date etc etc etc - none of this had any effect.
It's insane - I have the fastest PC I've ever used at home (quad core running at 2.6Gh, 12Gb RAM, Win 7 x64) yet I'm still using a browser that feels and performs like it was written in the stone age.
Since I see dozens of other threads around similar to this - often with boilerplate responses from Mozilla volunteers condescendingly telling people to disable their antivirus client or start stopping processes one-by-one to try and find something else to blame - I don't expect there will be any official assistance or advice, but has anyone else figured out a way to get FF to stay well-behaved after being open for an extended period of time?

Recently Firefox has started doing something extremely annoying - activating something called quick links whenever I use an apostrophe ('). The only way I have found to disable it is to go into about:config and add a boolean to disable it, but when I restart Firefox it goes back to the default settings. This is incredibly annoying because damnit, I want to use proper grammar and punctuation in my posts and this thing won't let me! I never asked to turn it on since Ctrl-F does the same thing, it is a redundant feature that has a stupid trigger. I'm seriously switching to Chrome over this, but I'm hoping I can solve the problem first...

I noticed that Firefox's memory usage would slowly climb until it reached 500 or 600k. I observed that when this happened, the CPU usage would go to 100%, the cursor would freeze or turn to that scrolling blue circle, the screen would white-out a la 'not responding' and the 'EN' (for language) and the arrow to show hidden icons in the notification area would disappear. When it finally unhanged, the screen would flicker, the Firefox icon in the task bar would move outwards then back in (like another program was opened then closed) and the 'EN' and the arrow would re-appear and the CPU usage would drop. The longer Fireofx was left open, the more times it happened (up to several times a minute) and the longer it took to unfreeze. All other programs work perfectly while this is happening.
The only thing that works is restarting the browser but this is not really a solution because the problem just comes back. I often work with many tabs open (sometimes up to 10) but I have noticed that this occurs even when I have only one tab open.
