On my Linux Ubuntu system with Firefox 17.0.1 (and with several earlier releases, eg 12-16 I think) after a few weeks the tab triangle or arrowhead on one or more Firefox windows becomes defective. This problem is different from http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/931515 in that if I restart the browser and resume the Firefox session the problem goes away for a while. (Note: I will wait until 05:00 UTC on 28 Dec before restarting FF to clear the current instance of the problem, in case anyone can suggest other relevant tests or data.)

The main symptoms are these: Triple click no longer slides the list of tabs all the way left or right. Double click appears to work once (from an extreme end). Single clicks step the tab list one tab at a time up to near an extreme end but then stop working before the extreme tab becomes visible. The following paragraphs give some more details about the symptoms.

When the problem occurs, tabs for new pages (eg reached by links from the right-most visible tab and opened in new tabs) do not become visible (that is, are not squeezed into the list on the tabs bar). The right-facing triangle, although not grayed out, does not make the tabs for the newly opened pages visible, but seems to have no effect. Clicking the X for the right-most visible tab closes that page and then one of the tabs that are "hidden out to the right" becomes visible, but other tabs out to the right remain inaccessible.

Meanwhile, the tab triangle arrowheads continue to work ok on other FF windows. For example, the left and right tab triangles in this current FF window (where 15 tabs are visible for 17 pages open in the window) are working fine. But in the FF window with the problem (where 15 tabs are visible for 40 pages open in the window) the triangles stop working one tab too soon: they don't give access to the leftmost or rightmost tab.

Note, clicking + (Open a new tab) jumped the list to the right end, with the new tab and an empty page visible; but after I clicked the left triangle three times, so that the new tab scrolled off to the right, no matter how many times I click the right triangle, that tab remains invisible, even though the webpage for it is still visible as the currently selected page. Opening a URL from command line acts the same way.

The system runs Linux 3.2.0-35-generic #55-Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS x86_64 system with Firefox 17.0.1. I don't remember when I first encountered the problem but believe it was in 2011 (vs 2010) on a Fedora 7 system. Restarting FF has always cleared the problem. The command line "echo session $DESKTOP_SESSION desktop $XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP; wmctrl -m" produces (in part)

Note, I snipped 1200 lines of text from the Troubleshooting Information because the 50000 bytes in it pushed this post's length over the 30000 byte limit. All of the snipped lines started with "print.tmp.printerfeatures"

Why this - https://moneyclick.karnatakabank.co.in/ website is not opening in firefox. I have the latest version of java & flash player installed and working.I didn't even get a warning that this website is not compatible with firefox. Still not working. Chrome and IE 9 opens the website as it is, they have java enabled too.

Please check for yourself and reply. Can anyone solve this?

For several weeks I have been accessing Words with Friends through Facebook using Firefox. For the last two days, when I launch Words with Friends in Facebook using Firefox, a small window opens stating "Trouble Connecting to Facebook. It seems we're experiencing problems connecting to Facebook. Please refresh and try again." Refresh does not change the condition. If I access using Internet Explorer, I experience no problems.

I do a lot of copying information from websites into word, and in doing this there's a lot of formatting like font style and color codes and color fades that need to be kept when I'm copying them into word. On my desktop computer this isn't a problem at all, but on my labtop here Firefox does not keep the formatting of the text and copies it only as plain text into Word 2007. Chrome keeps the formatting, but unfortunately chrome also keeps the background color of the website and I don't need that and can't figure out how to make it go away.

I have tried using the paste special, but the only options it has are plain text and unicode plain text.

Everything I have read blames Skype Click-to-Call add-on, so I will state that it is not currently and never has been installed on this machine.

Since FF has been having trouble retrieving my windows & tabs, slowing me, I tried finding the solution, so I browsed FF Help, and read about RESET.

The Mozilla Reset-Firefox article stated: "when [reset] is done, a window will list the info that was imported. Click Finish and FF will open. That's it, you're done!"

But this fails to inform me whether RESET leaves Favicons etc. etc. arranged AS IS without fooling around with their order.

So is my best bet to:

(1) Reset? (2) Disable extensions/themes? (3) Update to latest version (why? i'm happy with this version, if not for becoming slow) (4) I only seem to have a coupon printer plugin. Does that hog memory?

Suddenly there was a portal site named "myv9" or "V9" on the screen when I started Firefox the other day. It contains a lot of icons for programs like Facebook, Google and so on. Until now I have had only Google as start page from Firefox. Of course I can click on the Google icon to get there, but it is the only site that I want to use of all these. Nearly all the other icons (except Facebook and some others) lead to specific US sites that I never visit (for example the weather forecast for North America) , because I live in Sweden. How can I get rid of "myv9"? Even if it doesn´t harm my computer, I am afraid that it will slow it down, and, besides, it needs an extra click to get to Google. Vidar Ferm, Sweden

Recently when I dragged webpage URL shortcuts to my desktop, they no longer showed the Firefox icon. The icon that appears is the standard white icon with the little square and three colored dots that Windows uses for unknown programs although when I double-click on the URL, Firefox does boot up.

I would like to fix this problem so that the Firefox icon will again appear in the URL shortcut. How do I correct this problem?

Windows XP Pro SP3 Firefox 17.0

I am tired of constantly being required to install a new update for Adobe Flash player which ALWAYS includes a marketing program embedded in the download, for Google Chrome, or McAfee or Malware or some other junk I do not want.

Instead I would like to migrate away from Adobe Flash and instead utilize VLC as my default media player, but when I go to my Control Panel set defaults VLC is not included. I have found "instructions" on line to add VLC to the Control Panel list, but you would HAVE to be a programming specialist to wade through the basic machine code and effectively achieve upload to the Control Panel Default Option list.

I figure I cannot be the only customer afflicted by this marketing ploy by Adobe Flash....over the last few months....and I prefer Firefox....so I figure you must have other customers writing to you. I simply want to dump Adobe Flash. If enough people dump them, then maybe they will abandon this marketing crap.

I have a single page webapp with an inactivity timer that calls window.location.replace when there is no activity for a period of time. If this happens while Windows is locked, the new url is called (it hits the server), the address bar is updated correctly but the page that is displayed is still the old one.

The app is built in GWT 2.5.1

I've tried window.location.assign as well.

In the last few weeks, a lot of my Firefox windows hang for long periods of time - a minute or more. Today it got much worse, where it would hang for ever (defined as many minutes until I got tired of waiting and killed it).

After trying many things - It appears to be Javascript related. If I disable javascript - all the sites I go to first complain that javascript is not enabled butthen offer me a javascript free version. I have no hangs with java script disabled. a few sites just won't work with out it - but still no hang. As soon as I re-enable javascript - all my windows hang. I have tried only having a couple tabs open but still they hang. This happens with google mail and Yahoo mail as my base two. But if I open several other windows instead, they hang as well.

I tried downgrading to Firefox 17 - no help there.

I tried updating flash, I tried downgrading flash. No difference.

I have run out of ideas on what to do here.

The subject box in me email does not open to allow me to put in a subject...when I send the email the subject is 3 lines long that I did not enter. Subject lines works in all other broswers...just not firefox.....The wordage is: var sndplD = "1043"; var sndgID +{0756ECB-CDD8-465-9135-BBEA799A505A}...etc.

Missing options of "Enter Private Browsing" "Open new tab" and "Open new window" when right click (right context menu) firefox icon on taskbar.

When I close out of Firefox 17 it always restores my previous session when I open the browser back up, no matter how many tabs I had open before I close. It does not take me to my homepage setting, just reloads the previous session before close. All the time. How do I fix this issue?

I seem to have been infected with a virus called PUP.TidyNetworks, which coincided with Malwarebytes insistance that I buy their overpriced payware. No-one seems to have any experience with TidyNetworks, and a search for it on Malwarebytes comes up empty-handed, which makes me very suspicious, since their software identified it. Now my email doesn't load messages properly on FireFox, though it works fine on Chrome.

What's up? Any ideas?

When FF17 came out, I upgraded and then could not teach my online classes until FF17.0.1 came out with the fix. I need to avoid this problem, so am asking about ANGEL operation with FF v. 18 Thanks

So they used to work, when i went to change my persona it'd preview it on my window when i hovered over it, I recently updated firefox and now it wont preview the personas when i hover over them. I made sure cookies are allowed but even when i click on "wear this" it asks permission with an 'allow' button. How do i fix this, i cant find it.

New machine, set up Firefox - only I'm now unable to have the tabs where I want.

What is the matter with you people? The simple option of having tabs BELOW the navigation toolbar is taken away. We’re told of the ‘benefits’ of having tabs on top. But like crass Windows developers, those at Mozilla take one step forward then two steps back, and don't give the user a choice. The whole point of using Firefox is the ability to customise – I suggest you don’t lose sight of this fact!
