For some websites with sensitive content it is very annoying that it is possible in firefox to restore the previous sessions after firefox crashes.
The default-setting for this firefox-feature in about:config and then browser.sessionstore.resume_from_crash is true.
This can cause a security break when a user log into a website with sensitive content and then firefox crashes and the user leave the pc. If then an other user starts firefox again on this pc firefox will aks if he want to restore the previous sessions. When this other user click "restore the previous sessions" he will have the authorized session of this website with sensitive content of the first user!
=> So the question is if there is a possibility to override the firefox-setting "Restore previous session" on the server side.

I have an XML file that is being transformed to HTML at load time by the browser via an XSLT stylesheet - something like this:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<?xml-stylesheet href="transform.xsl" title="example" type="text/xsl"/>
<foo>
<bar baz="1">Hello</bar>
<bar baz="2">my name is</bar>
<bar baz="3">Inigo Montoya</bar>
</foo>
The XML gets converted into HTML via the stylesheet, something like this:
<html>
<head/>
<body>
<div class="bar" id="1">Hello</div>
<div class="bar" id="2">my name is</div>
<div class="bar" id="3">Inigo Montoya</div>
</body>
</html>
The transform runs just fine, the HTML generates and is displayed, BUT: If I give the browser a url like:
file:///tmp/foo.xml#2
while the browser renders the file fine, it does NOT move the viewport to the selected div (assuming the generated HTML is larger than a screenfull, naturally). I've also tried adding <a name="2"/> and <a id="2"/> elements to the generated HTML as well, with no observed change.

This morning I noticed that on Firefox 17 if I open the Add-Ons tab to see my add-ons and extensions. All I get is a blank page. I also noticed that on the "About" page the "checking for updates" simply kept spinning and never finished.
I was sure I had Ad-Block installed, but when trying to install again it completed the download, but stalled at that point, waiting to ultimately finish.
I had to leave for work, so could not look at it further.

We are using SharePoint with a web part from another vendor that is used to display people's pictures. The web part takes in the paths we provide as UNC paths (i.e. \\servername\folder\picture.jpg\) and then when we open the page the links are displayed as file://servername/folder/picture.jpg. It works fine in Internet Explorer.
In Firefox 10 ESR, we do not see any pictures at all. There is not even an X where the picture is supposed to be.
I have tried changing the path so that the link is showing up as file:///// instead of file:// but the pictures are still not being displayed.
I have tried setting user.js as described here but that doesn't seem to work either. http://kb.mozillazine.org/Links_to_local_pages_don%27t_work

I entered an admission in my computer, and when I closed the visit and syncronized the visit, the admission for my patient disappeared---forever!! I did this twice and then did the admission on my husband's PC. When admission was completed, I closed the visit and syncronized the visit. I was able to view the admission on my husband's PC, and my coworkers were able to view the admission on their computers. I, however, was NOT able to view the admission on my laptop. When I bring up the patient's name I see a chart with nothing in it. I also show another visit for that patient that is opened with nothing in it. On my husband's computer I have no additional opened visit. I can chart on admissions already in the computer with no problem. I MUST use my laptop because I am a hospice nurse and I am on the road all day. MUMMS can be entered offline and then syncronized later. I called the teacher for MUMMS and she said this is a technical issue and thought that you might be able to connect into my computer to see what is going on. I do not want to post this question, it is too complicated and important. Thank you, Vicki Asaro

Yeah, I've recently updated from Firefox version like 2.something to 10.0.2. My god, why don't I learn? Why don't I just follow what I know is true rather than listening to everystupidbody else, who are always wrong? You see, Mozilla. THIS is why I keep sometimes a DECADE-old version of software and update ONLY with the greatest of caution, and often not even then. The newer versions ALWAYS and I mean EVERY DAMN TIME work WORSE. All the bells and whistles and ‘new and improved’ (read: retarded) ‘innovations’ (read: flaws) bring the whole thing crashing down. Why the hell do developers constantly think they have to fidget with something until they break it? Better question: Why do software developers ALWAYS refuse to take responsibility for a terrible design flaw and just undo it already - instead blaming everyone else? God, I am SO TIRED of the questions: “What firewalls are you running” (Answer: NONE) and “Did you update it?” (Answer: you can’t be frickin serious at this point - you’re just screwing with me, aren’t you?). While I’m getting such brilliant troubleshooting suggestions, why don’t I just turn it off and on again? Can you come and set the time on my computer for me too? I don’t understand these confounded smoke-containing magic boxes yet. Firefox used to be like the perfect browser. I loved it when I first discovered it. I couldn't believe how neat it was. The features were so practical and useful! They MADE SENSE. I actually had trouble believing what I was experiencing, since software is so regularly programmed by, what appear to be, escaped mental patients who hate Humanity. Now it hogs resources like they're going out of style and that godawful plugin container, I believe, is attempting to set a new high score daily on how many times it can crash. Oh and I love the 'solution' on your help. "Simply reload the page to restart the plugin and show the video (or game, animation, etc.) again." HAHAHAHA. You mean AFTER the three minutes it's frozen my computer up? You mean during which, I can't even bring up the FRICKIN TASK MANAGER to FORCE the process to end??!?! I mean, I’ll admit, I am using XP here, but I’m sure not everyone having this problem is. So basically, my question is: Mozilla, you gonna fix this problem, or do I basically have to shitcan Firefox (and by extension all of your products and your reputation with me and everyone I know) and download a different browser? I mean, I like Chrome less, but I don’t hear about as many problems with it. Oh, I also love how Firefox version 3.something would CUT OFF MY INTERNET FOR SEVERAL MINUTES!! Even with other browsers. I don’t even remember how it managed that, but I was impressed, I gotta say. But, listen, Edited by a moderator due to language. See the Rules & Guidelines .

Hi,
When I zoom (using Ctrl and +/- or the mouse) while being on Facebook, it does increase the font size, but the white margins on the left and right side of the page seem locked, therefore the text overlaps when zooming. In other words, it is as if the text is trapped in an invisible box that will not expand when zooming.
This is happening only when on Facebook, other websites' sizes expand normally when zooming.
Anyone has had this issue?
Thank you.

Is it possible to make Firefox not accept any new Certificate Authorities without user interaction?
Long story short, I have having a problem where Firefox is adding a CA to it's database that is hosing things up. The actual problem is with the cert that is being offered to me, and I am working with that system owner to fix the cert, but in the mean time I would like to have Firefox not ever load the CA into it's database. This new CA is added without the user being prompted at all. Simply visiting a specific website causes this new CA to be added to the list (but again, not trusted, just added to the list).
By default when it is loaded the new cert has no permissions so it is not trusted, but the problem is the fact that the CA that is added is a duplicate name with another known good CA in my list and it causes things to go wacky when there are two with the same name (different signatures, different issuer, the only thing the same is the nickname).
I know this isn't a problem with Firefox directly. In 99.9999% of cases when it adds an additional CA to the list it doesn't cause a problem at all because it is not trusted and it won't inherently allow the secure connection. But since fixing the real problem with the owner of the website is going to take a long time (weeks/months) I would like to put a band-aid on the symptom so that I can cut my maintenance of this topic down greatly.
I am running Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.9 with Firefox 10.0.12 (RHEL distributed Firefox).
I could go into extreme detail to explain what is causing my problem, but the short question I have is "Is there a way to make the CA database read-only"?
I have tried editing the permissions of cert8.db in ~/.mozilla/firefox/*.default/ to only be readonly (0400) vice read-write (0600) currently. However this causes Firefox to have kittens when I try to use anything that reads the CA list so I had to change it back.
I have a hacky script to remove the CA using certutil, but since certutil uses the 'nickname' of the cert to decide which one to delete, and both the good cert and the bad cert have the same nickname I get worried I'll blow away the good one and not the bad one. So far it has consistently matched the bad cert, but I don't have enough confidence that it will do that every time to push it out to my users. If I could use certutil -D with something more specific than nickname (fingerprint, signature value, etc) I would be OK with that as well.
I know there are options to restrict user changes to things like proxies and the such, is there a similar way to do it with CAs? about:config doesn't appear show anything that looks like it would do it.
Can I have it prompt me when it tries to add a CA to the database and allow me to say yes/no?
I am OK if the change is something that requires manual intervention if we do decide to add another CA to the list. Currently I am having to repair this problem multiple times a day and new CAs don't come all that often.
Unfortunately, I can't simply upgrade to the latest Firefox as software restrictions are in place. I'm open to any ideas you may have.
