I use high contrast mode on my computer. I would prefer to use Firefox, but it is not very high contrast friendly forcing me to use Chrome. Firefox automatically adjusts if the OS window scheme is set to high contrast. Chrome has an extension that takes a different approach. It actually inverts the colors for each page visited while ignoring photos and videos the best it can. When I use Firefox with high contrast it basically strips the page of any formatting and I'm left with a pure black screen with yellow, blue, and purple fonts that look horrible. Looking horrible isn't the only problem though, many buttons and images are not displayed at all, and text fields are completely invisible. It makes using high contrast with Firefox a real pain and pointless to even try to use.
http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb Check the link to this page as an example. Switch your OS windows to high contrast and open this page in Firefox. Open Chrome and download the high contrast extension and enable it. Visit the same page and look at them side to side.

I cannot change the search engine permanently. I changed in about:config manually the search machine. But if I put in a search string into the address, the "old" engine shows me the results again. Also in the search engine management on the right side (sorry, using german version, so I'm not totally sure about the right name) I cannot delete the engine. If I delete there the search engine, FF ignores my command. Thank you for helping me!

I just got rid of Babylon search engine that was infesting the about:config files. I got rid of them using spyware removal program and I was wondering if it is normal that typing search terms in the address bar is supposed to take longer than typing in the google toolbar on the right of the address bar. It takes about 3 seconds longer.

Recently, I stumbled into a directory containing several hundred icon files. Obviously, this directory belongs to Firefox:
C:\.....\AppData\Local\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\ikq6zo8j.default\jumpListCache
My privacy settings are: "Clear history when Firefox closes" with all checkboxes ticked.
I checked everything but these icons don't go away. Searched the internet regarding this problem. Nothing. Searched Firefox Addons. Nothing.
Now if we talk about privacy and take it serious, there MUST be a setting to clear this directory after exiting Firefox. Since this seems to be favicons, everyone can find these icons and easily reconstruct all the sites accessed by the user.
I'm appalled by this behaviour, as it's a massive privacy violation. What's the use of clearing the history, when those icons aren't deleted?

I had a technician to clean and remove Babylon search from my computer and it still attached itself to whatever I'm doing. I uninstalled Mozilla fox at least five times , then re-installed. However, I cannot get rid of Babylon search. I spent $100 dollars to resolved this problem and it's not working. I handle high confidential files on my computer. I am afraid to open the file due to fear of information being compromised.

In Firefox 16, when I right click on a tab and select from the context menu 'Close Other Tabs', I now get a confirmation box that I have to check. Since I perform this operation fairly frequently, this new feature is an annoyance. After all, if I accidentally close a tab I can get it back through History.
Is there a way in about:config to remove the confirmation box feature?
Thanks.

On the website "Getting started with the Firefox for Android tablet browser", the following can be read: "Note: Tablets with screens smaller than 10" do not use the tablet browser by default. For those tablets including Kindle Fire, Samsung Galaxy Tab 7" or HTC Flyer, see Getting started with Firefox for mobile."
I'm assuming there is a way of changing this because it says "by default". I couldn't find anything on the topic, but can't believe the developers chose to make Firefox look like this on 7-inch tablets... Can you help me change the UI on my tablet?

How can I automatically save my tabs when I close (not quit) firefox on my mac? When I close it (by pressing the red x on the top left of my browser, or by doing cmd+w, and reopen it, I don't have my tabs. There is no restore button when my browser opens. It does not automatically restore my old tabs (I've set it to that setting in my preferences "when my browser starts"). I cannot restore my old session through History either (I can by opening closed windows or tabs, I think, but the restore button doesn't work - in any case, I don't want to have to do this. I want it to be automatic). However, if I quit (emphasis) firefox then everything is restored just fine. But how can I do this when I close it!? I don't want to be able to loose all of my information by accidentally closing my browser.
