I am trying tot default back to firefox search engine...My Firefox got updated and switched back to crappy AVG search engine I despise...Just need help switching it back I hate AVG's crappy search engine it really sucks

I accidently hit a combination of keys (either shift or Ctrl) and my screen now has a black box around it with SCREEN SIZE options!

How can I revert to normal and what keys did I hit to make this happen in the first place?

I used to have a list of contacts in the lower left of the screen under the "search for people box." I'm not sure what I did, maybe clicked on one of the chat links. Now my list is gone. I have the contacts in another place but that is not where I want them. I used to be able to click on an email address from my list and a blank email would pop up addressed to the person that I clicked on. I want my list back. I tried restore and that didn't help. Please help me get my list back. Thanks.

I wish to be able to block a site from ever being seen in Firefox. Internet Explorer allows a list of blocked sites in each category - e.g. Internet, Trusted, etc. It includes a wildcard facility. How can I do this in Firefox?

On several computers owned by my self & others this update automatically causes WMP plugin to stop working. This is a problem because most basic users don't understand thats the cause.

I,m trying to watch some RTSP files. A google search turned up how to configure VLC to play these files. I followed the instructions and it worked although with a clumsy copy and paste the video URL proceedure. I then found a suggestion that this plugin might simplfy the process. Problem is, I can't figure out how to use it. can someone help?

I have some open office documents stored in a backup folder. Everytime I try to open one, it will appear as if it's going to open but doesn't. How can I open this document. It's originally a wps file

I go to a website that requires a Java plug-in. I downloaded the latest update (21) for Java 7 from Oracle but when I go to Add-Ons>Plugins in Firefox 20 the Java plug-in doesn't appear and when I do a search at the Get Add-ons nothing that mentions the Java Plug-in shows up. Where can I get the plug-in required to use with JRE7u21?

I am having trouble getting Java to work in Firefox (Opera too) on Mac. http://www.java.com/en/download/installed.jsp?detect=jre tells me "We are unable to verify if Java is currently installed and enabled in your browser." Notice that when I access the page, Firefox wants me to activate Java in a pop-up. I did this.

I know that Java is installed because I can open the Java Control Panel. The setting "Enable Java content in the browser" is checked and Security Level is set to High. I have tried setting the security level to a lower setting, but that doesn't help.

I have verified that the Java plugin is enabled. I have tried clearing Java cache via the control panel - no luck.

I realise that Apple has blocked Java according to this article: http://appleinsider.com/articles/13/01/31/apple-again-blocks-latest-version-of-java-through-os-x-anti-malware-system. I have been able to get Java to work with Safari (this doesn't help for Firefox) by editing the file /System/Library/CoreServices/CoreTypes.bundle/Contents/Resources/XProtect.meta.plist, but that is only a temporary solution, as it shouldn't be necessary to do this edit.

All of my search engines in the toolbar of Mozilla have changed to UK sites!! In "Manage Search Engines", I clicked the "Restore Defaults" button, but all I get is search engines for the UK. I clicked the "Get more search engines"button, but nothing I want is listed. (Yahoo.au, etc)

How do I fix this???

Using firefox on my windows 7, keybar 1.8 customized search just appeared. it is annoying as it changes my homepage whenever i start firefox. also puts search on my toolbar. I uninstall it on programs but it stays on firefox. please help!!!!

I downloaded the Buffr app for Mozilla so I could easily share stuff to social media. Now I have three of their icons that show up next to my Google search bar...I want to delete them, any idea how?

I open my Outlook Web Access browser, read a message, and when I hit "reply" and start typing, Firefox puts my typing up in the address bar instead, even after I make sure my cursor is down in the body of my message.

Some sites offer multiple languages but they have different formats per language. I would like to set to a preferred language different from the order set in Firefox. Is it possible? Otherwise I need to change the language every time I visit those sites again, after restarting Firefox (with the cookies cleaned)

I've just updated FF to v21 and whenever I click a direct link to an mp3 file, it starts to play automatically in the browser instead of downloading. I'm aware I could right click on the links to save the content but previous versions of FF would just start to download automatically so I would like to get that behaviour back if possible please.

The 'application' settings for the file types is already set to 'save file' and disabling all the plugins and extensions doesn't change anything either.

Any help would be cool.

have managed to get rid of conduit but cant get whitesmoke off firefox and causes me not to be able to view movies on direct tv. there is no place to set search provider on whitesmoke actually no tools at all. Have deleted all versions and uninstalled firefox and it still hijacks seach engine and tool bar

i use firefox for samsung galaxy s3 and instead of downloading videos it starts to play them which is very anoyin and disturbing when i want to download them. please help me with this.
