It feels like FF is loading something and freezes. I have only four Addons installed:

  • Adblock Plus
  • All in One Sidebar
  • Firebug
  • Web Developer

Even when scrolling down a page it happens sometimes. It just freezes and I have to wait... I don't have this problem with the IE and Chrome.

Since updating to 6.0 and then to 6.0.1, I have frequent "not responding" errors lasting as long as 30+ seconds.

This occurs at random times such as clicking on a link, trying to scroll up or down, etc.

I'm on Windows 7, and it hangs and turns grey and goes into "not responding" mode.

  • This does not happen because of any reliably consistent reason, like Flash or the use of an extension. It occurs regardless of what I am doing, whether that is YouTube or entering text into a box or reading a simple text-only page.
  • These hangs are very, very frequent. They occur every few minutes and last for around one minute.
  • Running in safe mode has not mitigated the problem.
  • This has been happening since I installed Firefox 5 on this computer, but continue to experience it in 6.0.1. The first installation of Firefox on this computer happened within a day or two of having purchased it.

If I get Windows to prompt me whether I want to force close Firefox, this is the information about the hang it provides:

Description:

A problem caused this program to stop interacting with Windows.

Problem signature:

 Problem Event Name:	AppHangB1
 Application Name:	firefox.exe
 Application Version:	6.0.1.4259
 Application Timestamp:	4e5d3a4c

 OS Version:	6.1.7600.2.0.0.768.3

If I do choose to force Firefox to close, I will always receive the "Well, this is embarrassing" error upon restart, and can have it restore my tabs from there.

System specs: Dell XPS L502X, Intel i7-2720QM CPU at 2.2 GHz, 8GB RAM. I notice when the hangs happen, 2 of my 8 cores will become busier.

Every few minutes, Firefox (version 6.0.1) freezes. I get the swirling circle for a couple mins, and then it goes back to normal for a little while. I've tried updating my plug-ins. Updating Firefox. I tried starting Firefox without add-ons. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling it. Nothing has helped so far, except for using IE instead. Which I don't want to do. I checked my task manager to see if I was running anything that has a lot of usage (Firefox is using like... 600,000k) there's nothing unusual there either. I'm at a loss on what else to do, other than change browsers.

There are constant pauses since updating to Firefox 6. It stops loading pages and says (not responding). This can be up to 10 to 15 seconds each time.

I have disabled add-ons one at a time, and have seen some improvement but it is still happening. Is there another fix? I now only have one add-on and think this is not the solution. From a post an another website, I have heard from others about having this same issue.

Please help!

Hi, ever since updating to version 6, I started to experience connection lost from time to time.

This never happen to me prior to version 6.

As an attempt to fix this, in outpost firewall, I allow all activity for firefox (this is not even needed before this).

I then run firefox in safe mode, with all plugins disabled. It appears to fix it but then the problem is back after few minutes.

I do a clean reinstall of firefox but nothing seems to change.

On my side, I am able to reproduce this by visiting deviantart.com

I am sure my internet connection is still on because I can browse while using IE.

I am going to switch to others, the only reason I am giving this so many chances because of few extentions that I use. But then, losing connection periodically driving me nuts

By the way, restarting the browser temporary fix this, also the reason I can finally post this.

Hi,

Recently my firefox has been running very slow. Its take long to browse all websites and sometimes it takes really long when the circular thing at the top left hand corner keeps spinning.

When that happens; if I click on the page the screen goes white and then says that firefox is not responding so I close it however if I just leave it at the white screen firefox comes back to normal.

Also I noticed when I am using firefox my connection has gone really slow. I have disabled most plug ins im not using and also uninstalled some programs I was not using anymore on my Dell Inspiron 530S. I also have AVG Free Edition and have done a full virus scan. I think I might have spyware or malware on my computer so today I purchased Adaware Pro and am now running a full system scan so hopefully that solves the problem as I have been told that spyware can slow down a computer.

Your help in this matter would be really appreciated.

Thank you

Yusuf

When I try to print a web page ie an article from the NY Times or other newspaper, the first page prints properly with correct scale then the 2nd page is either blank or comes out in double or triple scale so that much of the page is missing. I have tried with both "Ignore Scaling" checked and unchecked. As an end-run, I chose a very small font and when the entire article is printed on one page, it comes out correctly. Just the 2nd and 3rd pages are affected. I have already downloaded another copy of Firefox 6.0.1 and have replaced printer drivers. I am using Mac OS 10.6.8 on a MacBook Pro.
