I've seen a few posts about the AVG 2012 Search, but none match what I'm looking for.
My homepage is set to google.ca, and my quick search toolbar is set to google as well with all other search engines removed.
I didn't have this problem before until yesterday when I formatted my computer and re-installed everything.
If I type in the address bar terms to search, hit enter, it use to come up with a Google results page. Now when I type up there, hit enter I get an AVG secure search page powered by Google, and the address bar icon changes from a Google logo to AVG.
Only if I type in the address bar. When I open a new tab the cursor always defaults into the address window not the google search page so, always forget to click into the google page and type. In any case, if I search with the google search bar or on the google webpage it's fine, it's just if I type in the address bar and hit enter that I get this http://isearch.avg.com page.
Anyway to switch it back to google?

On YouTube and other Flash based video sites, Flash drops a huge number of frames, making playback very choppy even with the smallest resolution (360, 480). This doesn't happen with IE, not even while using the highest resolution (720, 1080) available. I know my computer is more than powerful enough to play back full HD, even without hardware acceleration. Is this Firefox's fault or Flashes and is there anything I can do about it?

I reinstalled firefox recently and now every time I click a link it opens in a new tab instead of in the same tab. I would rather change it so it opens in a new tab only if I tell it to but for some reason that option is no longer in the options tab. How do I disable this function in the newer firefox?

Was having script errors using IE8. SmugMug recommended I try Firefox. The script errors have stopped, but is very slow to respond to clicks compared to IE8.
On a screen that has pick lists. In IE8 they open fully imediatley. But in Firefox the response is very slow and the pick lists open almost in a jerky fashion.
Also when starting Firefox for the first time I was offered and accepted the option to import IE's bookmarks and such. I let it run for 20 min. then a script error dialog box came up:
Warning: Unresponsive script A script on this page may be busy, or it may have stopped responding. You can stop the script now, or you can continue to see if the script will complete. Script:resource:///components/nsPlacesExpiration.js:632
I elected to Stop it. It importing continued until Firefox came up. But guess what; no IE Bookmarks were imported. I have a barebones, no addons Firefox running. And like I said, it is very, very slow.
"Funmoods" and "Babylon have taken over all my browsers!

I have had enough of Firefox crashing. I do not mind having a slightly slower browser, I do mind it crashing.
I would like to know a SIMPLE way to stop automatic updates. I am actually using a Dutch version of Firefox, which in their attempt to make things easier for us has a different layout :-(
I am now extremely unhappy with Firefox. Since the upgrade before last it has done nothing but crash. If it is not possible this time to switch out the automatic updates - so that I can update to the previous version that (hopefully) no longer crashes, then I shall simply move to Chrome. Sorry.

When I click onto the Mozilla Firefox icon and open the browser up, it doesn't automatically connect to the online server. Instead, a message appears that it is in offline mode. If I want to go online, I am instructed to click a "Retry" button. This then initiates the online mode. It doesn't happen all the time but most often first thing in the morning and/or if Firefox has not been opened for a few hours. Is there something I need to change in the Firefox Preferences under Network/Connection/ Settings?

I'm using a MAC Snow Leopard 10.6.8 and Firefox 10.0.1. Over the past month, I've had terrible problems with either Firefox freezing or my entire computer freezing when I was using Firefox. Then I have to do a Safe Boot and start all over, losing what I was working on or looking at. Can someone please tell me what the problem is? I tried going back to Safari but I like Firefox better. But I can't have my computer freezing every few hours like this. Thanks.

Why in the latest Firefox indexedDB is no more supported? I wrote an offline application that uses IndexedDB for data persistance, but it doesn't work after upgrading Firefox from 9 to 10. It only works on the older version. The same happens for EVERY indexedDB example available on the web. I tried to search on the net, but I didn't found useful answers. What's happening?
What does this mean, and how can I stop this message from coming up constantly in my e-mail program? "Alert: Firefox doesn't know how to open this address, because the protocol (htpixel.adsafeprotectedtp) isn't associated with any program."
This just started last night, and it seems to be affecting the functioning of my e-mail program (Yahoo mail). How can I stop it?
