I have tried all options under tools options advanced update and NONE of them disable automatic updates. Whichever one is selected, at some point Firefox will upgrade without getting user approval, which is complete and utter crap.

I have to maintain an application which must run on Firefox version 3.6, cannot be ported to any later version, and is only used to access the control application.

I'm sick and tired of having to uninstall and reinstall Firefox every time it goes in direct violation of my settings and updates itself automatically. Why even have a setting for this if hte setting is completely ineffectual?

As I indicated above, for the past 6 years I have been listening to streaming audio radio stations on www.republicbroadcasting.org on the "listen live" page, but about 2 months ago every time that I pushed the cursor to activate the Winamp player, or any other player, and I mean EVERY time, Mozilla would crash and ask for a crash report to send to you people. The same thing happens when I try to listen to a previous radio show in their extensive archives. By using Microsoft Internet Explorer, I can at least listen to their live streaming audio shows. What gives? Why did this happen after 6 years???

In the bottom left hand corner of the web page, instead of showing'transferring data from www.eclswansea.com, it now shows 'transferring data from www.chaosserver.com. Why is this? When loading the same pages in Internet Explorer I only see 'transferring data from www.eclswansea.com

Firefox 3.6.17, Windows 7- Want to uninstall Skype Toolbar extension. I have disabled it but the uninstall button is greyed out. I went to extension folder in profile to delete but it is not there?

I like the look and feel of Firefox 3.6.17, but I don't like the look and feel of Firefox 12.

In Firefox 12, there is no menu bar, no navigation bar. All you get are open bookmarks at the top.

How do I get the menu bar and navigation bar back in Firefox 12?

I am using a dial up connection. I have tried several times to update to FF 12. most connections are 24 at best usually at night. The last download showed Firefox scanning for viruses. I have been unable to locate the downloads anywhere. Very often the download just disappears before finishing. I have tried 4 times.This connection is at a weekend home where the computer is used infrequently. Down loads are difficult at all times due to the very slow connection.

Every time I open firefox, a "plugin check" website opens up. I thought that once I installed and updated all the pertinent updates for the plugins, the website would disappear when I re-opened firefox. However, the page wont' seem to disappear. I've done everything I could think of to get rid of this page. After updating all the plugins I restarted my pc, checked to make sure that my home page has not been changed the firefox plugin change, disabled all my plugins and even tried blocking the website via HOSTS.

(I am on firefox 3.6.17. I cannot update to 4.0 because some of the websites I use cannot support 4.0).

I would like to check my history for time of day, as well as for the date. Is this a feature that is common? How do I set it to work showing the time, as well as, the date? Thank you.

I am unable to open my emails in my hotmail account. The page opens and I see the emails in the inbox. When I click on them, nothing happens. If I use IE everything works fine. Please help. I prefer to use Firefox for everything.

Hi all, 1st time 4 me on these forums. Well, straight 2 the topic.

I'm using version 3.6.17 since i didn't like version four. In Options=>Advanced=>Network, there's a section called "Offline Storage", I think that's the one that handles storing webpage data so that it opens faster the next time u open it, similar to "temporary files" in IE, right? Well its "usually" not working for me, & I figured it out from two reasons.

First, the "Exceptions" are empty & the box at the bottom (not the exceptions box) which is supposed 2 list the websites storing data is also empty, second, pages r actually not opening fast, I can see all the components (frames, images etc...) being loaded like its the first time i'm opening it.

But I would like to clarify, I said "usually" in my 1st paragraph, why? because even though the settings doesn't say i'm storing any data, I notice a few sites that r actually being loaded fast. Only "some" sites, while the rest of them r actually loaded like new every time.

I'm not bad in computer stuff but I'm clueless on this, I hope u can help me out, I'll be glad 2 do any diagnostics if needed.

Sorry Mozilla, but Firefox 4 sucks big time. I uninstalled and downloaded 3.6.17. I've turned off automatic updates. V4 breaks JQuery and who knows what else, so I'll be a lifelong customer of my v3.6.17 version, coz I'm just not going to have established, clean, awesome code killed by the browser! Only I build web apps so I've got to get all my clients to stop upgrading, too. I've been a Firefox guy for years now, but this is the end of my rope. Chrome is pretty good, as is Safari. I guess one of these is going to be my browser going forward.

Never having copied or pasted anything on Mozilla Firefox (or any other site) I am completely ignorant of how to do it! Someone has directed me to his blog and suggested that I forward a large part of the contents to a third party using 'Copy & Paste'. How do I do this? Please keep the instructions simple as my basic knowledge is really basic. Thanks.

I've been downloading my Fidelity.com portfolio nightly in CSV format with no problems for over a year. All of a sudden it stopped working. When I click on their DOWNLOAD link, I see Javascript:DownloadCVS() in the status bar, but I get no other visual.

(I can't now recall if I used to get the pop-up that asked what I wanted to do with the file or if Excel just opened -- probably the former)

I contacted Fidelity's web support and, of course, they said nothing changed on their end. I even did some research to learn about the content-type MIME-type mechanism and told them that they may have unknowingly changed the content type and it needed to be text/cvs in the response header. They said they could not replicate it with their FF or IE so it had to be a problem on my end. I also know that IE is not as compliant as FF so the fact that IE works is irrelevant.

I have since discovered a workaround. The file does indeed get downloaded. I just have to click on the Downloads button on the top bar to quickly access the Downloads dialog box and then click on the file. At least that's better than having to use IE to get this to work!!!

Any ideas how I can further troubleshoot and get the old behavior back. I think I tried safe mode when this first came up.

I asked this question earlier. The add on Noscript will not install. xpinstall is true. I have reset it 5 times to true I have restarted Firefox I have restarted my computer No installation yet Please help I reset to Firefox 3, but other addons won't work with that. Why can't I install?
