Hello Firefox Fans,

I have Firefox 3.6.28 still running daily on my PC under WinXP. Do not ask how old it is.

The one and only reason I haven't updated yet is that my favourite extensions does not work on newer versions. It's a very time-consuming process to find, install, and configure them, and since Firefox's main release frequency is constantly increasing, I can never tell how often will I have to do the same task of several hours in the future, if I want my Fox to be up-to-date.

This is why I do not update.

A few weeks before I ghosted my OS and tried to update Firefox to the latest of that time, but the results were so poor that I restored the full backup quickly.

One reason why I do not put my extension list here in the first post initially is that I think it's not the proper way to get the missing info I need if I have to compose a forum post, interact with others and wait for answers to get my Fox being updated properly. The other reason is that I do not post because I want my problem being solved by others, but rather wondering the community's opinion about my question.

Updating Firefox properly is a very time-consuming and annoying process.

i have tried numerous time to download update version. Get to the point BEFORE i am prompted to drag icon to Application or dock...it dstops, says I cannot :replace "old version because MOzillo is in use! Thanks

Is there some kind of hidden requirement I don't know about?

Everytime I open Firefox I get two tabs starting. One is my regular homepage and the other is https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/plugincheck/. I fixed the one plug in I wanted to fix but now I can't get rid of the plugincheck tab. The "Automatically check for updates" is disabled in the Tools-options-advanced-updates section of FFox but the extra tab persists.

Basically fire fox will open to the homepage and that's it. If I type in the search bar or link/navigation bar and hit enter, nothing will happen. Clicking on a bookmark or a link from the history will not do anything. FIrefox simply will not respond. Using another browser gets working results, so my internet isn't the problem.

I went back to firefox 3 to get things working again. I Tried to re-install firefox 18 again and everything installs correctly but NOTHING works.

So any help would be appreciated.

I installed firefox 16 on my laptop, before that I had version 15 and everything was just fine. after insalling the update, some problems came up. first, there is no homepage shown when I start firefox, even though I picked that in the options

second, my bookmarks-toolbar is not shown, I have to disable and enable the bookmark-toolbar to see my bookmarks, that is due every time I close firefox and open it again

third, it seems to me that pages load slower, every new page needs a few seconds to appear, using version 15 page loading was much faster

fourth, there never appears the adress of the internet-page I go to, it always just says "go to a website" so it is much harder to find out the adress of the site

fifth, when I go from one page to another, I can not go back but have to look for the site, for example when I look something up on google and pick a page to look at, to go back to my search results I have to start the search again

I hope there are some solutions for my problems

For a few months now I get a message saying I need to upgrade my Mozilla browser. When I go to my email (live account through hotmail) it says I need to upgrade my browser. So I have tried several times to do this with no luck. It's getting pretty old having to look at email on a kindle or phone, I can look at it on IE but I have other user accounts so I have to log in and out all the time on there.

using 3.6. Webmail will not work correctly with anything higher. The programmers say there are too many and too frequent updates to firefox and will not try to stay current. there are no plans to make our webmail compatible with later versions. suddenly, firefox is freezing and giving me a "stop script" message, Stopping script usually fixes the problem, but its happening more and more frequently. I am NOT using yahoo toolbar.

I have an extra tab whenever firefox loads. I click the x to close it but it won't close. My home page is set to what it's meant to be. So there will be the tab I'm looking at and an extra blank tab.

I have three browsers including Firefox 3.6.28. I am running a Mac Power Book G4 with a OS X 10.5.8

For security purposes, I have installed a "text seal" and "color" on Yahoo Mail. For my other two browsers the text seal and color remain permanent when I quit each but for Firefox, when I delete history or just "quit," the next time I try Yahoo Mail both the text seal and color have not been saved.

Of course, I do not have to use Yahoo on Firefox but I would like to; always have.

Whenever I try to Like something on facebook, nothing happens, and when I try to comment, if I write further than the small existing chatbar, it will not scroll to allow me to see what I'm typing. When I hit Enter to make the comment, nothing happens.

I'm concerned that Facebook simply won't work properly for me because of my old version of firefox (3.6.28), however I cannot upgrade to a newer version because of the age of my computer (running OSX 10.4.11), and I'm not in a position to get a new computer right now, so I'd like to see if I can find a fix.

I have already tried clearing my cookies and cache, I've checked my plugins for problematic ones, including "Effective Measure Community Plugin 3.1.0 (by Effective Measure Pty Ltd)" mentioned in another thread (it wasn't there) and disabled those it listed as being known to cause problems. I've checked to make sure my JavaScript is up to date and enabled. I've tried turning off all add-ons, and the possible combinations of some on, some off. I've tried adding a cookie permission for Facebook. So far, none of these fixes have been effective. I haven't been able to try troubleshooting in Safe Mode, because the option to run in Safe Mode is not listed under the Help dropdown menu.

Is there anything I haven't tried that anyone knows of for fixing the issue, or is my browser simply too outdated?

I have a Mac G5 with OS 11.4.11. In order for me to upgrade to the latest version of Firefox I would have to install a new system. If I install a new system I have to install all new programs. Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, GoLive and other CS programs, plus PowerPoint, QuarkXpress , and many others. I can't afford to upgrade. I really like Firefox but what am I suppose to do?

Here's the problem with latest Firefoxes (15-17) as well as Palemoon:

Create three folders on your desktop - name them A, B and C. Now open up Firefox. Go to webpages that have multiple images to download. Click open the images from the various webpages while holding down the Ctrl key.. You will now have multiple tabs of the various images. Now open each tab with an image, right click the image, save as a random name and make the download designation folder A. Do this for all tab images.

Now go back to the first tab image, right click the image, save as a random name and make the download designation folder B. Continue doing this for remaining tab images. As soon as you attempt to download an image from a different webpage, Firefox will change the download designation to folder A.

Typically when you set a download designation in a browser, the designation does not change unless you manually change it. Firefox will keep changing the download folder for each new webpage with images.

Now do the same as the last paragraph but save the images to folder C. As soon as you get to an image from different webpage, Firefox will (I do not see why it is doing it) change the download folder to either A or B, but not C.

As I indicated above, for the past 6 years I have been listening to streaming audio radio stations on www.republicbroadcasting.org on the "listen live" page, but about 2 months ago every time that I pushed the cursor to activate the Winamp player, or any other player, and I mean EVERY time, Mozilla would crash and ask for a crash report to send to you people. The same thing happens when I try to listen to a previous radio show in their extensive archives. By using Microsoft Internet Explorer, I can at least listen to their live streaming audio shows. What gives? Why did this happen after 6 years???

I'm using latest Firefox version 17 but on the internet it tells me i would use Firefox 3.6. My PC is an Intel Duo Core Processor from 2007 on Windows XP Service Pack 3. How's that possible and how to fix this problem?
