When I try to open a new tab I get this: Server not found

         Firefox can't find the server at www.[r;;iåvÞyevq¾qîx»òki.com.
       
       

 Check the address for typing errors such as
   ww.example.com instead of
   www.example.com
 If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network
   connection.
 If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure
   that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.

Pages with web fonts, like http://google.com/fonts, are not rendered correctly. All text that should be web fonts is shown with the default font. This is Firefox 20.0 on Ubuntu 13.04 with Gnome 3.8. - Starting in safe mode does not help. - neither does starting with a new blank profile. - There are no error messages in the Error Console. - Javascript is enabled. - not allowing hardware acceleration does not help. - the "Allow sites to use their own fonts" option is checked. - I am not behind a proxy.

What else is there to check?

I have firefox 20.0.1

This iminent thing must have ridden in on some download but it is all over the browser trying to put up spammy stuff in facebook, gmail, pinterest. I t may be partially blocked by some other add-ons like adblock-plu or better privacy, but it is there creating spurious toolbars on all my social sites and with little popout side windows.

I ran Malwarebytes and it found nothing.

I tried to follow these instructions from http://botcrawl.com/how-to-remove-the-search-iminent-search-the-web-hijacker-virus/#Firefox to remove it: Step 1: Open Firefox, and navigate to Tools -> Add-ons (Ctrl+Shift+A). Step 2: Select Extensions and find the particular Search Iminent Search The Web Toolbar extension, and click disable and remove.

BUT the "remove" button was absent.

I tried to follow these instructions to remove Iminent cookie: How to block the Iminent.com cookie 1.From the Tools menu, select Options 2.In the upper section of the Options window, click Privacy 3.In the Cookies tab, click Exceptions 4. In the new Exceptions – Cookies window, enter Iminent.com in the Address of Website field and click Disable.

BUT there was no "cookie tab."

On my computer start up, when I opened firefox, everything was different (at the time I had Lavafox and Darker Google installed) The home page did not load (instead it was the new tab page with recent history pages), the address bar was visible but did not show any page or tab unless I started typing something in it, the Back button did not work, my toolbars were messed up and did not show until I toggled them hide/show, There is a 1 inch empty space at the very top of the browser (between the border with the mini/max/close buttons, and the FireFox mainmenu dropdown tab.

My latest firefox update includes a search bar IN THE TAB STRIP on top of the page (not the one in the navigation toolbar). It takes up too much space for the tabs and it is useless (since there is already a search bar below it in the navigation toolbar). How do I remove it?

about every three times I start firefox 20.0 on my Mac, there is a notice to update. When I click on the update now the window acts like it is starting to update, but will stay there for 20 minutes and no change. Just the bar with seeming activity, but no progress.

I'm finding it very confusing that for some reason I have all sorts of backup files for firefox backed up on my USB pen & desktop.

I have no idea if I need to keep all of them, or just one of them, as backup.

Which of the below do i need to keep, and which delete? Thanks.

I have uninstalled Snap.do but short of completely erasing all my history, nothing has worked so far. Each time I open a new tab in Firefox, Snap.do is there as the search bar. What a pain!!!

When I enter the item I want to search for i.e. Griffin Vulture in the search bar in the center of the home page and then click on the search button to the right of the bar nothing happens

I can't open anything in my Downloads list. I've tried resetting firefox and I've also tried everything in your article "What to do if you can't download or save files" but nothing helps. I tried to upgrade to the latest firefox to see if this helps but once I've hit the Download button, 1 minute later it appears in my downloads list and... same issue... I can't open it to run it! It's like it's crashed, because no amount of clicking on a download will activate anything. It seems like the Downloads list is dead! Also, (and I think this is linked), I cannot save web pages. I go though the motions and it looks like it's doing the right thing but the pages don't save - they just disappear into the ether! I'm on Windows Vista and have been downloading things happily for years, but suddenly this problem has occured and I've run out of ideas now... Please help!

I am using Firefox 20. I can play Facebook games like Angry birds. Flash player is not the problem because YouTube works fine. games like crazy taxi, cube, backgammon not loading, not even the page - full blank. I tried with other browsers, It works.

When I go to the Tools menu, there is no option for private browsing. The option was there earlier today when I was using version 19.something (I checked the version when another computer in the office had upgraded firefox and had the same problem) When the browser upgraded to 20.0, private browsing disappeared.

I have Firefox 20.0 (binary package) on Gentoo x86_64

Uncheking "Use system colors" works until Firefox isn't closed, then restarting it's checked again.

Same behaviour setting "browser.display.use_system_colors" as "false" in about:config.

I tried using a completely blank profile (deleting ~/.mozilla) but still same behaviour.

Any ideas?

I thought the problem was the Unicode but I had changed the codification to UTF-8 and the problem persist Some suggestions for solve this. Thanks!

My remote monitoring for my security ( My-Q see) worked fine until I updated to 20.0. Now Firefox pops up asking me to install web plug in kit. when I do, it still does not work even after restart.

"I'm running Firefox 20.0.1 on a Dell 660s under Windows 7 Premium. I downloaded and installed Firefox in May. I can't seem to get it to update to 21.0 for the following reason:

"Available Update" window for Firefox 21.0 pops up daily. I click on Update Firefox and "Downloading Firefox" window pops up with "Connecting to update server..." notification. This continues to run, sometimes for hours (when I forget about it) but it never finishes. I eventually cancel it and it happens again the next day.

Every time I go to a new web page I get a pop up from www.lnksr.com. It is not on my pop up blocker exception list. I keep having to go through the trouble of closing it every time I open a new web page.

3 days ago I was trying to watch videos on youtube and i kept getting adobe flash player crash error. i went ahead and updated to firefox 20.0.1 and i updated to flash player 11.7. still getting the error. Ive clean installed both since. I've reverted to older versions even the 10.3 listed on Firefox Troubleshooting guide. Nothing seems to work. I cannot watch any video period on any website that i've tried. Ive ran Malwarebytes and virus scans both with latest definitions and all is clean. Now firefox just crashed as i was writing this. weird. some assistance would be appreciated. Thanks

I'm trying to sort the bookmarks in the Bookmarks Menu by name. They seem to be divided into two groups with no delimitation between them. The first group ends with 'Windows'; the second group starts with "Essay Ideas". In the list in the Bookmarks Menu, 'Essay Ideas' comes right after "Windows". Right-clicking on Bookmarks Menu and choosing Sort by Name doesn't correct this.
