I just installed Firefox 14 and attempted to import my bookmarks from Internet Explorer 8. I have 236 bookmark folders in Internet Explorer, but only 160 imported to Firefox. Is there a limit to the number of bookmark folders Firefox can transfer? Just to be clear, I'm not referring to the actual bookmarks, of which I have 12,487, but rather the folders containing the bookmarks.

I installed some plugin which put Yahoo as my default search engine. Meanwhile I could remove most of it and I am able to use Ixquick again. But when I enter a wrong URL into the url bar, e. g. motsilla.org, it still takes me to the Yahoo search! How can I remove this? I've seen nothing in the about:config.

If I try to search using the address bar it always takes me to http://search.snap.do.

According to firefox the only search engines I have linked to browser are google and twitter.

I have macafeee anti virus. I have just run a windows anti malware programme but to no avail.

Any ideas as to how I can delete it.

The Bookmarks Toolbar is empty (although Bookmarks are still shown in Bookmarks/Bookmarks Toolbar) I reinstalled FF15 - same problem; I upgraded to FF 16 beta - same problem, I backed up and restored the Bookmarks I deleted all the suggested profile files the 'Bookmarks Toolbar Items' is on the toolbar. I rebooted etc

I am running Firefox 15.0.1 I have researched your articles and came to the place where it is suggested to drag the Icon for that function and drop it into the customize section of the Bookmarks Tool bar. When I drop it in there the icon shows, BUT the instant I close the palette the new added icon on the taskbar is gone.

I have customized the bookmarks managing quite extensively. That is why the option of resetting it makes me panic, specially that I have lost bookmarks more than a couple times while upgrading FF versions.

I have set 20 folders where I have sorted hundreds of bookmarks.

My add-ons are: - Adblock Plus 2.1.2 - DblClicker 1.6.1 - Flashblock 1.5.15.1 - Java Console 6.0.33 - LastPass 2.0.0 - Lazarus Form Recovery 2.3 - RealPlayer Browser Record Plugin 15.0.6 - Rights to Close 1.0.4 - Tab Preview 0.3 - Tab Navigator 1.1

I added this list cause of the comment i read in here that there may be some conflict which could be producing my current problem.

What would you suggest may be affecting my Bookmarks button? And more importantly how do I fix it?

I would appreciate knowledgeable contributions to help me solve my isssue

When I download a file from the internet in Firfeox, the download window stays open after the download is complete but the file name disappears from the window. In previous versions of Firefox the downloaded file would remain visible in the download window after download was complete and I could simply click on it from within the download window and open it. Now, because it disappears from the download window, I have to open Windows Explorer and navigate to the folder that contains that newly downloaded file in order to open it, which is a pain. I've enabled the "remember my browsing and download history" in options as suggested in previous answers to this question on the forum, but this doesn't make any difference. Is there some way of making Firefox show the file in the download window after downloading it? Thanks Gaz

Like i earlier stated .. after my update of the latest firefox [15.0.1] i found two of thesame versions of it on my program features so i decided to delete one. unluckily for my it cleaned out both and after reinstalling firefox i realised all my TAB folders, bookmarks, passwords and history was gone. this is very fustrating for me because most of the passwords are very important aswell as the links i bookmarked.

Any help whatsoever will be greatly appreciated or a number of a support team i could call for assistance?

This morning, everything that was in my exceptions list has suddenly disappeared. This list took years to compile. Thanks a lot Mozilla. Nothing special happened overnight as I simply put the computer to sleep before I did.

Information about "First date visited" *was* available on previous versions of Firefox. Well, if I had to guess, someone at Mozilla thought it would be a good idea to exclude this information, and the problem is, "Why do that?" You can see the "date added" for bookmarks, yet there is no equivalent for history items. I am left with the disturbing impression that someone at Mozilla was thinking, "Why should you care about the first date you visited a website anyway? Is it that important to know?" Imagine if Microsoft no longer supported fields such as "Date created" or "Date last modified" in future versions of Windows. I'm pretty sure that would upset a good number of people.

I have set my school proxy settings and use them very often. On certain websites, the ads keep using these proxy settings (probably to show me ads according to my preferences or I don't know), and I get the "Authentication required" message box over and over again until the page finishes loading. It's annoying because if I have many tabs open and am currently on another page while the website with the ads is loading, I get brought back to that page to authenticate. I can get asked 3 times to authenticate while this one page is loading, and it takes forever to load because of that. I do not want to disable my proxy settings because I use it very often. I have tried unchecking the "Accept cookies from websites" box and nothing happens, it still does the same. I want these ads to stop going through my proxy settings. How do I do that?

have been using a web page for about 2 months to access email through google mail.Now will only open in explorer. Have tried the online suggestions for resolving cookie mismatch: clearing cache but has not worked. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling Moxilla but did not resolve.

I have saved passwords. There is need to format my PC. I want to store those saved password in another text file (back up). How can I take back up of those saved passwords ?

All Firefox 15's are beta right now. The Stable version of Firefox (right now) is Firefox 14.0.1. Go to www.getfirefox.com, and download the release version of Firefox there. Then uninstall Beta, and install the Release version you downloaded.*

I apologized for my ignorance and switched to the most recent stable version 16.01 and true to Firefox Support's word, haven't had my browser updated since...... the last few days when I first noticed the browser was configured to be updated. I was upset by this discovery but let it go, leaving it to some one-time glitch. But when I logged again, the configuration never to be updated that I set my Firefox version 16.01 to was again configured to having the browser updated.

I logged on and off numerous times since and every time despite having it set to never to be updated was back in the update position.

So, my question is, despite using the stable 16.01 version, how do I prevent Firefox from updating my browser and even more troublesome, how do I prevent it from switching back on after i turn browser update off?

I love Firefox too much ever to give it up, don't like Chrome, certainly not IE whatever version having been a Firefox user since 2005.

Any help, assistance in this matter is greatly appreciated.

So, I'm now using the App Tabs on Firefox 16.0.2 and i think is really usefull to have all my favorites as tabs pined. But somehow the option "Not load until selected" which is available in the menu Options dosnt work for it.

How can i configure the app tabs to load themselves just when its selected? Its a shame if that cannot be conf. coz ... hm.... what's the purpose on pining just 2 or 3 tabs? if i load more than that, aka, all my favorite pages at the same time, the browser sucks almost 500 MB of RAM, thats more than many heavy games I play, thats old Firefox issues of heavy consumption of RAM :S

But I have to assume: the browser is pretty better. we are talking about around 20 pages loaded at the same time, and just 500MB?? well thats really impressive. However, i just want them to load when i need them

When signing in to a a particular commercial website I selected the "keep me signed in" option. I am now concerned about keeping it continuously open. I cannot find how to disable this option?

This happens when I start Firefox (v. 3.6.28) from desktop. I ussually start it from quick launch. I have a star shaped button, top left, that works like a drop-down menu for my bookmarks. But now there's only a small window there, and the bookmarks do not appear anymore. They are stored in the Bookmarks>>Unsorted bookmarks tab. But how the hell do I get them to the drop menu ?

Did I mention that Restore doesn't ....... do anything ?

Also I haven't changed any settings in the last 2 weeks.

I plan to move cache folder to ramdisk, but follow the instruction from following link: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Browser.cache.disk.parent_directory I can not find out "cache.disk.parent".

any advice from your guys?

I am running Firefox 16.0.2 under Windows XP. Each time I open Firefox, I must click on View / Toolbars... to restore my Bookmarks Toolbar. Also, I have repeatedly customized my Toolbar, moving the "Home Page" icon and the "Refresh" icon to the left and adding a "Print" icon. Each time I open Firefox, however, these customizations are lost. I suspect that I may have also lost some cookies, as previously known passwords are no longer known for several web pages. I cannot remove individual "Unsorted Bookmarks." I have no trouble removing bookmarks from the "Bookmarks Menu."

I have many of these bookmarks that I cannot remove. They just clutter up the bookmarks pulldown menu and make it almost unusable.

I do not need to remove the entire category "Unsorted Bookmarks", although that would be an acceptable solution.
