The font-rendering in Firefox 4 RC doesn't look quite right; the fonts are too light and seem a bit blurry. With hardware acceleration disabled, they look much better, but I'd rather not disable hardware acceleration if possible since I would lose out on the benefits of it. Here are some comparisons: Internet explorer and Firefox 4 RC font-rendering and Firefox 3.6.15 and Firefox 4 RC font-rendering You can also see how the spacing is a bit odd with Firefox 4 RC.
This is on Windows 7 SP1 64-bit with a Radeon HD5850 (latest drivers) if it makes any difference.
Is my only option to disable hardware acceleration?
Will the Norton Toolbar be available anytime soon in Firefox 4 BETA or in future updates?
I am running Firefox 4.0 b7.

Just installed FF 4RC1 on Win 7; nice, and seems much faster. One minor thing has me a bit perplexed: I'm missing the small "+" tabs at the end of each tab that are used to open a new tab. I just have the "new tab" icon on the toolbar. I installed also on my wife's Win 7 computer and the small "+" tabs are shown on hers. Can't seem to find an option that would control this. Anyone know the answer to this little puzzle?

A crucial piece of security awareness does not work the same in 4.0b7. When hovering over a link, Chrome, Opera, and Firefox-3 all show the URL at the bottom left of the screen. But we cannot guard ourselves against phishing attacks in the same way with 4.0b7 because it puts the link's URL up in the Location Bar instead, where it gets truncated.
This "feature" appears to be undocumented; it is not mentioned in the Release Notes.
What config setting do I need to change to get the link's URL to show up down in the Status Bar again? (Or should I say Add-On Bar, since "Status Bar" no longer shows up under Menu -> View -> Toolbars.)

I am mostly fine with the changes in firefox 4.0b7, I get that urls are now shown in the URL abr on mouse over, loading progress is in the tab and right clicking the back button shows the list of sites.
What I can't figure out is how to show the progress of files being downloaded.
The status bar had a very simple indicator...showing the number of files and time remaining.
Is there any equivalent without having to have download manager open?

Address bar and search bar are too large in Firefox 4.12 Beta. I can make one of them smaller but it makes the other one larger to refill the space. Any way to make them both smaller so I can acquire a little more real estate to add one or two more icons? I'm already using "small icons" in the "customize" section. Also, can I move the "home" icon to the left of the address bar since I use it regularly?

It's great that the menu can now be displayed in the tab bar with tabs-on-top, but it would be even better if the titlebar itself could be hidden! I believe this is already the case on FF4/Windows 7. Maybe I have just not discovered how to turn on this feature?

Per the subject line. Before my last system reboot, Panorama was fine. Now the feature is gone -- along with all the open tabs represented by the other Panorama groups I had!
I only just noticed the change, but perhaps it happened earlier, after reboot, when Firefox updated itself. But I could be wrong about the precise timing and, in fact, I think I HAVE used it since the last reboot.
Honestly can't think of anything I've done to cause it to go. Exiting and restating FF doesn't restore it. Good feature, miss it badly. And the open tabs that were lost!

I know that the Firefox button can be shown on Windows XP too by hiding the Menu Bar. But why is it not default? If Windows XP users do not know that Firefox button can be shown by hiding Menu Bar, they will not only not be able to access the Firefox button but will also not be able to enjoy tabs-on-titlebar. Describe Mozilla why it is not default???
In Firefox 4 beta, how can I display the sidebar showing bookmarks, as was possible in the previous version under "View - Sidebar - Bookmarks"? Thanks!
I don't seam to find any clue under "Help" nor online on how to access the simple "view" menu in Firefox 4 beta.

Win 7 64 bit FF 4 b12.
Why does the return key not work after typing a url? Its annoying to have to use the mouse to click on the "go" button.
Also there is no "Check for updates" button, not so much for FF but for addons.
Thirdly, the addons bar does not show my addons eg Flashgot, Addblock.
Thnx

The Navigational Toolbar buttons like the Back, Forward, Reload, Stop, Home etc are spread across the entire toolbar. Earlier, they used to be clubbed together. Clicking Home or Reload was as easy as simply taking the pointer to the top left corner of the screen and clicking the button. Now, I need to really start hunting for the Home or the Reload button if i require to use it. Please can we club these buttons to one side of the page so that you don't have to look for them all across the toolbar?

All other letters and my desktop font is normal! Hmm, i recently reinstalled win7 x64, and maybe something is wrong with that :) But, my display drivers are up to date... I must say that font on most websites are pretty clean (not in Gmail), but their names in tabs and Menu bar is still kind of dimly. The text in the adress bar looks like it is in lower resolution - a little pixelated :)
I have tried to fix it by disabling nvidia 3d vision plugin and microsoft silverlight, but none does the trick...any other suggestions ?
thanks

I should note that the blurry text was not an issue in FF 4b4 or earlier.
I have also upgraded just now to 4b6, and the same issue is present.

I am running Windows 7, and Firefox 4.0 Beta 6.
I recently turned off cleartype, but because Segoe UI is designed for it, I switched my default system font to Tahoma. Now all my fonts in all my programs are much clearer. There is only one program that didn't follow-suit, and that is firefox.
Figure 1 is an example of the font issues with firefox, figures 2 and 3 are examples of the same font displaying without any issues in Windows Explorer and IE. In figure 1, note how the vertical line letters such as 'i', 'k', and 'l' look terrible next to other letters, as in Edit and Tools.
Figures 4 and 5 are enlarged examples. The letters in the exact same word, 'Tools', using the same font, Tahoma, are all squished together in Firefox. It also appears the word is 3 or 4 pixels shorter in width, while being the same height. It is as if Firefox is trying to force a font size of 9, while the rest of my system uses 10.
The back menu is missing
I am still seeing the back and forrword buttons, but not the little arrow that opens the dropdown menu allowing you to go back multible pages in 1 click.
