Used an Asus netbook running Linux / Firefox version 2.0.0.0.11 for 3 years no problems. Now I cannot use "Hotmail" on it as it requires an update to version as above.

It appears to download but not to open and I get the message "could not be opened because the associated helper application doe not exist" I am also not sure where I should be downloading it too but chose home/user.

I am very basic user but checked the File "open with" settings and there is no application for a tar.bz2

Any advice would be very much appreciated

Recently (maybe since v14) the firefox starts to crash every time i close it. I debugged and found it can be solved if i don't install a certain extension or if i reset the preference by removing the preference directory. But when updated to 15.0, the firefox repeats the problem again and again, even it runs in the safe mode without any extension or i remove the .mozilla/ directory in my home directory totally. In addition, i tried to uninstall and reinstall firefox, but the problem remains. Any one shares the same problem or has any suggestion? thanks a lot.

My OS info opensuse 12.1 kernel linux 3.1.10-1.16 gnome 3.2.1

I am using Firefox 4 with Fedora 15. Attaching files in yahoo mail is not working. It did work with Firefox 3 and Fedora 14. I can attach files in gmail with Firefox 4 / F15 and I can attach files in yahoo mail with Google Chrome. It is just the combination Firefox 4 with yahoo mail that fails. Any suggestions what to look for to resolve the problem will be appreciated. I have also tried with all add-ons disabled and in safemode but this did not change anything.

On Debian installed SUN-JAVA6-JRE and IA32-SUN-JAVA6-BIN and vanilla Firefox 3.6.6

Followed instructions to create symlink libjavaplugin.so -> /usr/lib/jvm/ia32-java-6-sun-1.6.0.20/jre/plugin/i386/ns7/libjavaplugin_oji.so in ~/.mozilla/plugins, but restarting firefox and about:plugins does not show Java plugin.

Also created symlink in /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins, and in firefox install dir /usr/local/firefox/plugins. but none of this solved the issue.

Please advise

I want to erase all certificate exceptions, that is, go back to the original default set of trusted SSL certificates. I've found the Certificate Manager and its big lists of trusted things, but I have no idea which of them ship with Firefox and which of them were added by me at some time in the past. How do I do this?

I'm using Firefox 4 on Ubuntu 10.10 on a mac. When I tested http://get.webgl.org/, it says "Hmm. While your browser seems to support WebGL, it is disabled or unavailable. If possible, please ensure that you're running the latest drivers for your video card. For more help, please visit the support site for your browser.". I found http://videos.mozilla.org/serv/mozhacks/flight-of-the-navigator/ more helpful, as it says "Could not initialise WebGL, sorry :-(". What am I supposed to do now?

I am using Linux Mint 10 and Firefox 4b11pre, although this has been happening since at least b9pre. I am running Fx from my home folder as downloaded from Mozilla, not from a PPA. This happens on the "stable" beta releases as well as the "pre" releases. I used to be able to "vacuum" the databases with the program Bleachbit and the problem would go away...for a while. Now that is no longer affective.

Also, and I think this is important, ALL add-ons are functioning correctly. Everything works except I cannot open the add-on manger.

The new (huge, cumbersome, and unresponsive) add-on manager simply stops working. It won't load or partially loads and the browser darkens, which signifies an unresponsive program in Linux. I then have to force quit Firefox.

If I have crash reporting enabled I am never asked to submit a report.

This occurs completely randomly. It is not associated with any particular add-on as far as I can tell. I have spent many hours trying to diagnose this problem to no avail.

Things I've already done:

1. Build a completely fresh profile. I have done this several times, combining many different settings, and the problem still happens. It happens with the default settings, when I only change settings from the Preferences dialog, and when I change settings through about:config. I have also used the safe-mode switch to reset all settings, but it still happens. Similarly, I have re-downloaded Firefox itself, "pre" and "stable" for fear of corruption by updates, which has happened before, but this does not solve anything either.

2. Safe mode. If I choose to disable all add-ons from the safe mode dialog and restart Firefox the add-on manager works. At any given time I have about 30 add-ons enabled, mostly the standard ones (Adblock, No Script, etc.), and many that I'm just playing around with.

Now, when I start to enable add-ons, the add-on manager works. I can enable, say, 5 at a time, completely randomly, and it will continue to work until I reach about 25, then it dies. I have removed all add-ons except the ones approved by Mozilla on there add-ons website. Then with all approved add-ons (and a still not working manager) I have disabled all add-ons, restarted, and enabled them one by one. Enable, restart. Enable, restart. Then, randomly, it just doesn't work anymore and freezes. I have done this many times and in totally random orders. It does not happen on any specific add-on, and always happens some where between 21 and 27 enabled. You can imagine how frustrating this is, since the add-on manager offers no way to mass-enable or count add-ons.

Finally, I receive no red flags in the error console and have exhausted my Firefox debugging knowledge. I receive no errors when running from the terminal either. As I said, all add-ons are functioning correctly. I have done other combinations of things, if it's a logical off-shoot of anything I mentioned above then I've likely done it. I've searched everywhere, Bugzilla, Google, individual add-on bugs, etc. to no avail.

Sorry this was so long, but if I can't manage my add-ons there's simply no reason to continue using Firefox, but, since it's normally the best browser around, I don't want to face that option. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Firefox is set to "NEVER REMEMBER HISTORY" but if I go to Ford.ca, which uses java, I must enter a postal code to have access to information about "Price & Build". Said postal code remains accessible by Ford.ca... even days after my visit, while I understand that "Private Browsing" should supposedly prevent such situation. Firefox 3.6.6-1.2 came with the newest openSuse 11.3 release. The same situation prevails with our other computer running under openSuse11.2 and daily kept up to date. A solution to this problem would be greatly appreciated!

FF4 won't start on Fedora 8

When I start FF4 on Fedora 8, I am getting this error: ./firefox ./firefox-bin: /usr/lib/libstdc++.so.6: version `GLIBCXX_3.4.9' not found (required by /tmp/firefox/libxul.so)

Indeed, libstdc++ supplied with Fedora 8 is old:

strings /usr/lib/libstdc++.so.6 | grep GLIBCXX GLIBCXX_3.4 GLIBCXX_3.4.1 GLIBCXX_3.4.2 GLIBCXX_3.4.3 GLIBCXX_3.4.4 GLIBCXX_3.4.5 GLIBCXX_3.4.6 GLIBCXX_3.4.7 GLIBCXX_3.4.8 GLIBCXX_FORCE_NEW

If I try to install libstdc++ from other distribution, I am getting other dependency problems (libc and others)

How do I run FF4 on Fedora 8?

Hi,

I cannot sign into google accounts with firefox. This problem is there only on my ubuntu 11.04 system and not on Win7 loaded on the same machine. Funnily enough it also affects chrome ( works perfectly on win7) but not chromium.

I have already tried the following troubleshooting. 1. Disabled all add-ons. 2. FF in safe mode. 3. Disabled IPv6 from the system connections.

Nothing has worked. When I sign in to google accounts. I always need to manually delete the cache and cookies so that the sign in page loads. After entering the username and pass a blank page is displayed while loading and the status shows 'waiting for accounts.google.com' for approximately 5 minutes. after this I see a blank page. when i go to google.com i am still signed out. The problem also persists in all google services. gmail/youtube etc. Seems to me to be a problem with google account.
