Generally I use Mozilla to access my Hotmail account. On signing out of Hotmail the browser defaults to www.msn.com Recently tis has not been the case and I get the following error message:- DNS Error - server cannot be found.Can't find hmit.ww.msn.com (Note only one "w") Obviously the correct address should be www.msn.com but where and how do I edit this "hmit.ww.msn.com"

since the latest version of firefox was installed, when I go to sites that have any video commentaries, I get a message that the plugins are not working or I need adobe flash. I have enable the plugins and installed adobe flash, still no luck

ORIGINAL REVISED QUESTION = AFTER ALL THAT ~ going through the whole MESS you have created and YOU TELLING ME that "in order to have a chance of getting my question answered ~ to give you ALL THE DETAILS I CAN", you REFUSE to accept is by saying, "Please keep the length of your question to 255 characters or less ..."!!! ORIGINAL QUESTION = I had SEVERAL plugins that WORKED!!! Then, I "upgraded" {as you, LAUGHINGLY, claim} to your Firefox 4 version after being promised by you that it's BETTER and, supposedly, an IMPROVEMENT over the older version. After I installed the NEW one ~ IT TURNED OFF ALL MY PREVIOUS PLUGINS!!! Your WISHTHEYWUZ "PROGRAMMERS", very cleverly {and, actually, HATEFULLY} ummmm, kinda "forgot" to make the new browser BACKWARD-COMPATIBLE so that it didn't DESTROY everything we, already, had ~ that WORKED before YOU got hold of it!!! So, now, *HOW* do I get the OLDER version back??? I think you should KNOW what you can do with this newer "UPGRADE" that is, actually, a LIE!!! UPGRADES do NOT take you in REVERSE ~ making things WORSE ~ real upgrades make things BETTER!!! DUH-H-H-H!!!

ORIGINAL DETAILS = I, recently, purchased a new HP 4500 Printer and it came with a video-capture extension/plugin. Attempting to use it, the program informed me that I needed to be using, either, an EI or a Firefox Browser mentioning version 1.5 {I think it was} or later. The Firefox browser I was using was 3.something; so, everything was going along FINE. When I installed the video capture program, it added the plugin to the browser ~ PERFECTLY!!! I, also, had MANY other plugins that worked and that I used somewhat regularly!!! NOT ANY MORE!!! YOU and your TOTALLY INEPT, WISHTHEYWUZ "PROGRAMMERS" have STOLEN nearly HALF of my COMPUTER!!! I can, no longer, USE ANY OF THOSE PLUGINS, simply, because YOU "forgot" {let's say} to INCLUDE them in your new browser version 4. WHAT WAS WRONG WITH THEM??? WHY DIDN'T *YOU* WANT ME TO BE ABLE TO USE THEM, ANY LONGER???

Apparently, YOU think that the computer world revolves around YOU and that YOU are its AXIS!!! You feel that YOU have NO RESPONSIBILITY to make YOUR programs in any way compatible with what is, already, available ~ according to the "advice" I noticed on one of YOUR pages WHILE REACHING THIS ONE, you said that everybody else must accommodate YOUR claimed "improvements" that do nothing but DESTROY!!!

All I want is for YOU to, either, MAKE YOUR VERSION 4 COMPATIBLE; or, advise me on HOW to get the EARLIER version back that *IS* compatible. Otherwise, I'll switch to a different browser and advise all others over whom I have any influence to do the same for the sake of their overall computering enjoyment!!!

When I click on the icons for sites I use regularly I get an annoying message and have to click x's and "allow"s several times to get it to go away. The message is a smug "Firefox has prevented this page from automatically reloading." Who asked it to suddenly start doing that? Why?

1)since upgrading to ver 4.0.1 no spell check why ? & no new addon for this, I'm not very happy & will go back to explorer if can't get spell check anymore. 2) also it is now slower than before not faster as you said. using win xp sp2. 3) why cant you get it right before offering it to us.

(Nearly) every time I use Google search, the search is hijacked to any number of other sites. There are "many" such sites, too many to block individually. If use Firefox tools/options/privacy and remove all cookies that I don't recognize, the search may work momentarily, however, the cookies are written back very quickly, and, my hijack problem recurs once again.

If I block 'all' cookies, certain web sites don't work (like, my Google mail, which tells me to go back and enable cookies).

I have tried any number of security programs (Symantec, Spybot etc) but, the effect is the same as above, momentarily the hijack problem disappears, only to reappear. Veritably, the Sorcerer's Apprentice effect!

My feeling is, Firefox needs a very quick fix for what appears to be a gaping security hole in Firefox.

I am using FF 4.0.1 version. For many years I've been using Yahoo mail and it worked great. Recently I created another Yahoo mail account for my wife and I have an access to it. From that time on, every time I try launching Yahoo Mail, it prompts me to login to her account, which I don't want. So, I have to click "Login as a different user" and re-enter my name and password. I tried just about everything: logging out, clearing cookies and cashe, re-logging in and out, etc. Sometimes it would let me login, but then on the next click (say, attempting to open a new email) it would try reverting back to her email login and I'd have to re-login again. Sometimes it gives me this error:

This only happens in FF: using Yahoo Mail in IE or Opera is fine. That's why I feel it is FF issue, not Yahoo. And seems like it happens if I close FF and then open it again.

I am using FF 4.0.1 and have been a FF user since the earliest version released - never really had any issues UNTIL FF 4.0.1.

Every time I start up FF now, I get the error message: "The proxy server is refusing connections". I am not using a proxy server.

I have to go to Tools>Options>Connection Settings to select the "No Proxy" option EVERY TIME I start up FF. It does not remember this setting and keep resetting itself to think I'm using a proxy server. This must a be bug and I've seen many others post about this issue but haven't really found a workable solution as yet.

I have tested with Chrome and Explorer and don't have this problem with those browsers.

If there is a fix for this incredibly annoying, time-wasting problem, please share it.

My HP computer has a program that memorizes logins and passwords so it can log me in with a finger print scroll. Since updating none of the stored passwords or logins work and the program will not recognize anything as a login page. I hate this and want to go back to the previous version!!!!!

Every time FF4.0.1 is opened the error message shows and must nbe closed before the FF screen shows. I've reloaded FF4.0.1 in hopes some code was missing, but no change....the Java Script Application error message still shows?

Thank you in advance. I upgraded to firefox 4, and since then I have had a problem. When opening a new tab I have chosen to be directed to google.com. In the past my cursor automatically went to the search bar on that page when I open a new tab. After upgrading the cursor just stays in the address bar, but I would like it to automatically move to the google search bar on the page. Does anyone know how to fix this? Thanks again.

i used to download videos using Internet download manager which is more convenient for me. But in mozilla firefox 4.0, IDM is not supported. If the problem cannot be solved, please suggest me any good add-on for downloading videos. Thanks :)

I wanted to download a free copy of DOOM and was connived into changing my default browser to Facemoods, and still never got the DOOM game. How do I permanently destroy Facemoods off my computer?

Our security Rapport used to appear in grey on edge of tab and when you wanted to activate it,you click on it and it goes green. This shows it is working. Now no Rapport symbol is present so you can't see if web-site such as BANK! is protected!

I recently downloaded some software called jZip and at the same time jZip also placed a toolbar on my desktop. When I start Firefox it always defaults to the jZip toolbar and search engine. How can I delete jZip totally from my computer. I have already removed the software from the control panel but the toolbar and search engine still remain.

Yesterday, no videos would appear for me: Youtube, Hulu, you name it. Youtube videos still autoplay the audio, but the player does not appear. Clicking on where it should be does nothing, and right-clicking does not give a menu. The videos work fine in IE.

I am using Windows 7 64-bit, Firefox 4.0.1, flash version 10.2.159.1. I have tried disabling Adblock Plus. I have repeatedly tried reinstalling Flash Player with reboots. I have tried disabling all plugins except the Shockwave Flash plugin. I have looked on Adobe's support and found nothing helpful.
