Basically fire fox will open to the homepage and that's it. If I type in the search bar or link/navigation bar and hit enter, nothing will happen. Clicking on a bookmark or a link from the history will not do anything. FIrefox simply will not respond. Using another browser gets working results, so my internet isn't the problem.
I went back to firefox 3 to get things working again. I Tried to re-install firefox 18 again and everything installs correctly but NOTHING works.
So any help would be appreciated.

I have Windows 7. If I disable this Java add-on, what should I replace it with? Thanks

Just recently again, it said that i will be notified only once again before automatic upgrade to 11.0.
Obviously i have no intention to move into new version as they would not support what im doing currently with 3.6, so do i need to disable this forcefull update somewhere before it happens, or will i be able to cancel it once it happens?
Also, as im on this question, is there a way to disable these annoying "update now" popups?

I installed firefox 16 on my laptop, before that I had version 15 and everything was just fine. after insalling the update, some problems came up. first, there is no homepage shown when I start firefox, even though I picked that in the options
second, my bookmarks-toolbar is not shown, I have to disable and enable the bookmark-toolbar to see my bookmarks, that is due every time I close firefox and open it again
third, it seems to me that pages load slower, every new page needs a few seconds to appear, using version 15 page loading was much faster
fourth, there never appears the adress of the internet-page I go to, it always just says "go to a website" so it is much harder to find out the adress of the site
fifth, when I go from one page to another, I can not go back but have to look for the site, for example when I look something up on google and pick a page to look at, to go back to my search results I have to start the search again
I hope there are some solutions for my problems

I have Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3 and I was wondering if it support the newest version of Firefox and if it runs alright on there. I haven't been updating it since 3.6.28 because I really didn't like the look and my mom was having all sorts of issues with hers and Adobe. I have recently lost my Norton Toolbar that was on the top when the latest update for 3.6 came out. I'm planning on upgrading soon and wondered if it would work well on it. My moms comp her adobe keeps crashing on there and her browser sometimes doesn't want to reopen after being shut down.

It's really getting annoying. I admittedly have an older computer, but it all works fine for my purposes. I used to get periodic requests from my automatic settings, or from microsoft or firefox or whomever, to update this or that. I'd click and download the upgrade, and life went on. Now I get repeated and unwanted reminders to upgrade my flash player or my firefox system, and I don't need to or want to, in my opinion. And I would like the notices to stop already.

My kids were messing with my computer and must have pushed something and everything disappeared. I need to know how to put an address bar (back button, refresh, ect) back up into the top of my window. Part of the problem is that my computer screen is cracked and I can't see anything in my menu easily. A command that would restore the address bar would help. Thanks.

So I went to this help page: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/No%20sound%20in%20Firefox?s=sound+youtube&r=0&e=es&as=s
On that page, it references a Windows function called "Volume Mixer". The screenshot shows three applications in the Volume Mixer function, these are called "System Sounds", "Mozilla Firefox" and "Plugin Container for Firefox".
I only have the one called "System Sounds". The other two are missing. Why is this so, and how do I reinstate them? On the Microsoft forum, they tell me that applications are added here automatically.
Another forum suggested the plugin was blocked by my firewall. This is not so. And yet another forum suggested that I disable crash protection using an about:config setting: there is no way I am going to do that.

So Firefox has always been annoying when it comes to updates, and now it has a daily window that pops up unless I update, which will interrupt me if I'm playing a game, or watching a movie. I don't NEED to break my addons and there is no advantage for me to update, only disadvantages so I am wondering if there is an addon or plugin for Firefox 3 that will block update notifications.
