I need to be able to dynamically slow down (throttle) the speed with which my firefox downloads content. There are thousands of google links to an extension that seems to do exactly what I want: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/5917/ However this is now a dead link. Why?

Is there a replacement?

I am living in China but I have all my setting to English as I am not Chinese. However, my homepage has defaulted to a Chinese version which I can't read and it gives no place to change back to English. I have tried changing it manually in Tools but it reverted to Chinese again.

Recently(like today) Firefox has started hogging cpu cycles causing responses to be very s-l-o-w :(

Have scanned with Sophos AV and Windows Defender and there is no indication of malicious program activity.

Firefox process remains running even when browser has been closed.

I accidentally removed my address bar/file/history/tools/etc., line on the top of my screen-I did this while removing extra toolbars-I don't know where to find it or how to get it back. I did a system restore, but that didn't bring it back. I don't know what to do! I had no idea that could be removed! I have little technical knowledge & have done everything I can think of to find it or bring it back.

It might have something to do with a change I made yesterday. I followed some instructions that said to go to TOOLS and click Clear Cache . Now there isn't a bar on top of my screen anymore to go back and click "tools" (or anything else). I went to Control Panel and did a "restore to earlier point" (restoring computer to an earlier date) but it did no good. What can I do to get things back?

Started happing on my laptop and my PC the same night. Both machines worked fine for months before this. I did not install any updates or toolbars or anything. Weird that it would start happening on 2 computers at the same time.

In plugins, what shows is: getPlusPlus for Adobe 16290. In extensions there is: Adobe DLM 1.6.2.90

When try to download from FF plug ins, the 'allow' doesn't come up. All I get is 'install missing plug ins'.

Shockwave does install.

Whilst on FB a few days ago the page suddenly reloaded without any pictures although I am unaware of pressing anything in particular. Despite closing down and reopening they have not reappeared. However, when I log in via Explorer on the same computer the normal FB page with photos comes up.

I am populating a new PC with software. Is there an easy way to copy my Firefox bookmarks from an existing PC to the new one? In the past the only effective was was to update my IE favorites, copy them over, and then install Firefox and import the IE favorites.

Every time I click on a "link", I am redirect to a web page telling me "Firefox can't find the server at google.ad.sgdoubleclick.net."

I have run every "bug" software there is looking for the culprit, but nothing has been found. I do not have this problem with other browsers. . . . . .

Running Firefox 3.6.10 Suddenly the Tools menu contains only a couple of options and sometimes opens blank. I seem to remember being able to click Options to set my tabs as the current addresses. Obviously I cannot do this now. The problem seems to have occurred having downloaded some software which included Google Chrome (which I didn't want, incidentally). I have since removed this software. I have tried re-starting the computer. I tried re-installing Firefox on top of the existing one. How can I return the Tools menu to how it was? If I remove Firefox from my computer and do a clean install, will I be able to retain all my bookmarks and tab settings? Or is there an easier way?!

From time to time, I'm using my girlfriends laptop with Windows 7. I have my own profile there.

As she is Italian, she has installed the Italian Firefox. I do not speak any word of Italian, so that is abit of a problem to me. Is there any way for me to install any other language such as English or Norwegian, without affecting her installation of the Italian Firefox?

Ok, random tabs open in Firefox often enough to really get annoying. I don't want to switch back to IE (ew), but I will if I can't fix this. Normally, it's a Google ad that opens, but today, a site for adult products opened. I have a 13 yr. old daughter who does NOT need to see this.

Here's what I've done to try to correct this problem so far...

-I've un-installed and re-installed Firefox at leas 4 times -I've run Malware Bytes Anti-Malware, Ad-Ware, AVG scans and Super Anti Sypware...multiple times -I've deleted and replaced the dll file WS2_2.dll with a new one -I've re-configured add-ons according to another support site.

Anyone got any better ideas? I really don't want to go back to IE! Please help!!
