When my 'update firefox' message comes up the bar shows download happening but then just hangs showing the little blue bars - if left can go on for days with nothing actually happening.

hw acer atom cpu n270 1,6ghz 1gbram

sw os microsoft xp sp3 v2002 ff v16.0.2 (not upgradable not to v18 nor v20) several plugins (few classics, see below) and addtional components (noscript, etc.)

problems 1)can't upgrade from v16 to v18 or any other higher version; downloading and installing v18 and restarting ff does not make any change, if not resetting all options and settings; i've tried several times within months; 2) although automatic check of new versions is unticked, at launching it often starts in default modus (all resets, history deleted, default starting page, etc.) as if made an autonomous upgrade/renewal to a higher version;

couldn't find any literature or contribution, if not the one of v12-13 for xp sp1 or 2;

theory could it be that ff 16.0.2 is the real last working version for ms xp sp3?

solution what are the solutions? if above mentioned theory is true, what can i do? at what stage is ff OS?

The navigation toolbar icon set has "New Tab" available in FF16 and FF17 on Win XPSP3 (32bit), but this control is not in the customization set in FF17 on Win7HP (64bit). How do a get the "New Tab" control in the toolbar in Win7?

I installed Firefox 16.0.1 yesterday. I was running 15 earlier in the day and it was fine. FF 16 however has suddenly started hanging for about a minute when I try to access certain websites. It unfreezes fine after that minute, no crashes or anything, but it's very irritating. From what I can tell it only seems to do it on pages that use Flash. I've got the latest version installed, and it's made no difference. I tried downgrading to FF 15 and it's still the same. Anyone know what's going on? Thanks, Mark

Forefox 16.0.2 on MAC OSX 10.8.2 with most current Adobe Shockwave Flash will not open You Tube videos. Photo of video shows, it seems to load, but then nothing happens. I have gone through all the suggestions on your site and spent a great deal of time and still cannot reach a solution. This is very maddening, as much as I love Firefox.

Ever since I updated to FF 16 I no longer see the option to send an email link when I right click although it does still show up under file also I noticed my Speed Dial extension isn't working correctly with FF 16.

This message box pops up with most sites and links since I updated Firefox. This includes basic links in troubleshooting articles such as the SSL test and other "try this" links on the troubleshooting page. I have NOD antivirus and firewall enabled, and have no issues with other search engines (Explorer and Chrome). I like Mozilla and don't want to abandon it. Please help. Facebook was the first, but there are too many to list.

Firefox just updated itself to version 16.0.1. Now, when attempting to close multiple tabs, I get the "Confirm close" warning even though the "Warn me when closing multiple tabs" option is unchecked. I tried checking that option, confirming the change, then unchecking that option again & confirming the 2nd change, too. This has made no difference. Firefox is not obeying the option setting.

The problem didn't occur before the update to 16.0.1 but did occur in the first session afterwards & has persisted since.

Whenever i open firefox the default search engine in the little search bar is always Yahoo, and nothing i do changes it back to google permanently. Even when i type something in the address bar it uses yahoo. Ive tried everything including going in to about:config and changing a bunch of stuff like putting in the google string but nothing works...

It's not under add-ons and it's not a program that I can uninstall. I have AdBlocker, which isn't helping. Random words are highlighted on my pages. It just started happening today. I thought people were trying to spam me. How annoying can they be?

Upon upgrading from FF 16 to 17, I can still drag the icon that's to the left of the url to the desktop (or even to the XP Quick Launch Bar, Folder Shortcuts, etc.) to create an internet shortcut to the current page. However, with 17 this method produces a shortcut that shows a generic Windows icon instead of a Firefox-page icon. Even though a generic Windows icon normally denotes "no program associated," these still open with FF when double-clicked. But it doesn't look right. (BTW, all the shortcuts created by this method in FF 16 or lower retained the FF-page icon with the upgrade to 17.)

Any ideas why this changed and how to fix it so it looks the same as before?

Pending resolution of this (and another issue) I went back to FF 16, and it works normally again. However, the shortcuts that were created while I had 17 still show the generic Windows icon.

Mac OS 10.6.8, Firefox 16.0.1, PDF Viewer 0.6.39 installed. In Firefox>Preferences>Applications, PDFs are supposed to be handled by the PDF Browser 2.4.4 plug-in for Preview. However, when I try to view a PDF in Firefox, I get this:

"We are sorry, but Adobe Reader is unable to show documents in this browser configuration.

"Please use your browser to download this file and open it in Adobe Reader or Adobe Acrobat.

"To avoid this message in the future, many browsers provide a way to turn off certain add-ons, and some are able to show this document natively. Please contact your browser vendor for more details."

Why is Adobe Reader trying to open the PDF when Preview is the default? How do I disable Adobe Reader from doing anything in Firefox?

Я только что обновился до версии 16 и не вижу у себя возможности поставить панель вкладок под панелью навигации. Мне очень непривычно и неудобно работать когда вкладки вверху. Подскажите, как сделать, чтобы вкладки открывались внизу? Спасибо.

Picked up this useless search bar accidentally and can't get rid of it. Blocking the url with Avast just prevents Firefox from opening. Can't find a program with this name to delete. Plugin does not appear in Add-ons file. Any suggestions that work would be most helpful.

Some of YouTube videos (not all of them) are not working for me. the videos isn't running, its just a blank box.

I have Firefox 16.0.2 I also have Flash 11.4 (was 11.3 and both didn't work out well) I also downgrade to 10.2 and it did not help ether. I also run Firefox on the Safe mode with all Addons/Extensions Disabled and that did not help too. I also installed the latest Realplayer. I tried disable/enable Hardware Accelerator.

each time I try a solution I hit the Ctrl+F5.

my current theme is Default.

I just tried to Reset Firefox to its factory settings , and that did NOT solve the problem.

All of the videos that are not working on Firefox are working on IE9 on the same PC at the same time without problems.

I am using a Milonic DHTML Menu - JavaScript Website Navigation System. It doesnt work with the new Firefox 16.0.1. The error is with Firebug : TypeError: self is undefined . Self is referred to : self.scrollY; self.scrollX;

The right click menu option "Send Link" appears to have disappeared from Firefox 16 (desktop). Why? Is it coming back. I used this feature several times a day (and so did several of my friends). There does not seem to be a Add-On to can perform the same function. Please Help!
