With Firefox 12 I am unable to drag-and-drop text into text boxes or search bars. Is there a way to enable this functionality?

Firefox 11 did allow drag-n-drop of text from both other programs and from within the browser itself; in FF12 I can do neither. How do I restore this feature?

I just updated to the latest version FF 12. After the update I can't open tabs anymore. There isn't even a button to open a new tab. The "Open link in New Tab ..." command opens the link in a new window instead.

It doesn't seem like a configuration problem. I was just wondering if a patch or fix update will be coming out soon?

In the meantime I have to use Chrome as a backup, and it's kind of a drag. :(

Nothing new - had this before year ago and I couldn't fix it. Now, the issue is back. Firefox after about 10-20 minutes starts to work awfuly slow. Like, going to few new tabs makes it unresposnible for good few seconds, the browser doesn't react to anything, typing is "invislbe" and appears only after few seconds, then it froze again for a while, like every script on newly opened site needs good two seconds for itself. At these times, the FF uses up to over 25% of my CPU (AMD Phenom 955 BE - 4 cores, 3.2GHz with 8GB of DDR3 RAM). And it also affects the whole system - everything is "stuttering" when FF is doing so. And it all appeared only after upgrading from FF11 to FF12 - similiar thing happened over year ago, when after update I had to totally re-install the whole browser. And now I'm here again, too damn tired to even think about clearing everything, installing totally new FF and importing all the stuff.

I tried soft re-install, started in Safe Mode with add-ons disabled (same thing, after some time the "suttering" occurs), clearing cache, re-installing Java (which seemed to help for a bit). Any ideas what the hell is wrong? I don't want to create new profile and move everything - I want my current damn profile to work as it should. I'm really tired of that - I'm also using Opera and Chrome (I'm web developer, so I kind of need them), but I like FF the most, but with this problem occuring over and over again after some time, I'm really thinking about giving up on Firefox.

Hi there!

Well, last night I shut down my computer from the Start menu in Vista. I believe I had closed Firefox manually before I proceeded with the shut down. I don't think it has anything to do with the way you exit Firefox, but I'm just saying it.

I usually have several tabs open in Firefox, this time I had about 50 of them and every time I close Firefox it prompts me if I want to save the tabs. I don't think this is a default setting, I think I set this up myself. So I just click the option which saves my tabs so that the next time I start Firefox I can continue where I left off.

I believe I clicked the save button last night as well. But today I started up Firefox and the tabs were gone.

I did follow the procedure for restoring the last session as described here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Firefox%20does%20not%20ask%20to%20save%20tabs%20and%20windows%20on%20exit?s=Firefox+12+failed+to+restore+previous+session%21&r=1&e=es&as=s

But the thing is I don't have the option to restore last session when I go to Firefox button and History.

Also, I have started and closed Firefox since that several times. So this restore option might only just restore the last tab I closed anyway. As described...

If you close each window or tab, only the final window or tab that you closed will be available when you restart Firefox.

Why did Firefox forget to restore my tabs?...

This happened to me once before but I don't remember how I restored the tabs.

And also, it happened once that Firefox failed to prompt me if I want to save my tabs, and instead prompted me with a whole different dialog, the one where it warns me that I'm about to close all open tabs and asks me to confirm.

There was no way around it so I intentionally crashed the computer, knowing that once I log on to Windows and start Firefox again it will restore my tabs automatically whether it wants to or not. And, of course, this proved to be true, all my tabs were back.

But did I really have to crash my comptuer for this? Maybe I could have crashed only the Firefox by terminating it's process... but it works either way. One time it asks, one time it doesn't ask to save tabs. Completely disregarding the settings! There is something seriously wrong here!

After that first incident I was again able to save my tabs on exit, it always asked me to save them from that point on, as I would expect it to. Until now...

Now it asks me if I want to save my tabs, and I say yes please, just to find out the next morning it didn't restore them, as if they never were saved. Haha! LOL! Ridiculous! Haha, that Firefox 12! :) What a clown!

As mutch as this is a call for help in restoring those tabs, it is also a reminder to Firefox developers that something really stinks here! You need to work out the session save and restore mechanism in Firefox 12. Unluckily for me I had not installed the Session Manager extension. That's one tool that does better what Firefox should do by standard.

How can I get rid of whatever hijacked my Firefox 12 home page and substituted a "Bank of America" login page? I have reset my home page in Options, but that doesn't help. I suspect there is a rogue entry in my Windows Vista Registry. I tried to get rid of it with several antivirus programs, including MS Security Essentials, Avast, Spyware Doctor and Malwarebytes, but none removed the offending hijacker. Help would be appreciated.

I just upgraded to Firefox 12.0 and have found that I can't drag anything anywhere. At first I thought it was a problem with the Menu Editor extension -- I was trying to reposition a menu element just after doing the upgrade from v11.0. In the Menu Editor Options window that can be done by simply clicking and dragging, but it didn't work.

I spent time fooling with that until I realized that other drag-type features don't work. In the order discovered:

  1. Cannot rearrange (drag and drop) tabs.
  2. Can't drag tab off Tab bar to open tab in another window.
  3. Cannot rearrange bookmarks and favicons on Bookmarks toolbar. The Bookmarks toolbar Context menu opens and its commands work.
  4. Can't drag tabs to Bookmarks toolbar or folder.
  5. [Opened Customize window] can't drag items to or from Customize window and can't rearrange or move Navigation toolbar or Add-on bar icons.

There may be more drag-related issues but these are the only ones I can think of and have found. I'm sure if I knew off the top of my head any extension interfaces that accomodate dragging they would fail to work. Basically no elements move when I click on it with the cursor and try to drag. I'm not getting any feedback graphic such as circle with slash.

This may be an extension conflict but before I start toggling numerous ad-ons someone might know if this is a new feature setting I don't know about, which has been the case before when I've upgraded.

I also saw a recent thread opened where the person has a similar problem (but on a Mac -- https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/926256?s=can%27t+drag+and+drop&r=11&e=es&as=s). I'm wondering if perhaps there are other items this person also cannot move but hasn't discovered yet, and if that problem and mine might be related.

Firefox automatically updated to the most recent version of 12.0. I have never had any issues with its updates until now. My setup uses the latest "Tree Style Tab" add-on which arranges the tabs vertically in a tree style. There is no functional problem with it. My main issue is that the tabs are far too large (height-wise) for my hundreds of opened tabs. It went from normal size to bloated, its practically unusable to me.

I need a way to undo this particular change. I am using the default theme (12.0 Strata) and i'd like to continue to use the default but if no other fixes are available I guess changing the theme would be my next choice.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Starting a couple of weeks ago, and coincident with no update or addon change in Firefox, AVG started giving intermittent, identical threat detection alerts.

All alerts say the same thing: file: www.laseroffers.com/feed/ infection: Exploit Blackhole Exploit Kit (type 2170)

If I have firefox open, I get one of these every 15 minutes or so.

I have scanned for viruses and malware, cleared cache, restarted, disabled all add-ons and reinstalled firefox. Interestingly, after I reinstalled, there was a short break, perhaps an hour, before the warnings started coming again. The warnings happen when I'm visiting sites I know are clean. Yahoo, Amazon, simple html sites, etc.

Would really like to find a way to resolve this issue. I want my Firefox back!
