Under Tools > Options > Tabs, "Warn me when closing multiple tabs" is selected. Also, in about:config, browser.tabs.warnOnClose is set to "true". I always have multiple tabs open. However, sometimes my hand slips or the mouse falls off the table and Firefox closes without any warning.

Firefox crashes unexpectedly when loading some pages. It does not crash on specific pages. It will crash unexpectedly on any website.

I have settings set to send reports to Firefox, but I have never received a response or fix.

I tried fixing the problem using the knowledge base. It did not fix the problem.

When I attempt to log in to things like Gmail, or any other site that requires me to enter a user name and password where I haven't opted to be signed in automatically, Firefox immediately crashes. I can restore the tabs, but only to get back to the sign in screen. This has made it impossible for me to check my email from my own computer.

This started yesterday when I was prompted to download and install the 3.6.7 update for Firefox. After restarting the browser, I get a message that it was not installed correctly, and then it closes without warning. It does not give the usual message that there is a problem and Firefox needs to close.

After experimenting, I've noticed that this only seems to happen when trying to load websites that include Flash content. Gmail and Youtube cause it to crash immediately. Other websites, like Facebook and certain forums will load initially, but will crash on certain pages, where there is probably a flash video or other application.

I tried starting Firefox in Safe Mode, but I still get these crashes. When I go to about:crashes, I get no reports of the recent crashes.

I still can't update Firefox to latest version, so I still have 3.6.6. Every time I try, the installation fails. I do have the latest version of Flash.

I believe I've tried everything suggested in the Knowledgebase, so if anyone has any suggestions I would really appreciate it.

In recent weeks Firefox has begun to crash repeatedly and unexpectedly - mostly when I click to open it. I often get the infuriating "well this is embarrassing" message. Most unhelpful. I send you the report of the crash and expect to hear from you as to why I am having problems but nothing happens. I can't find how to locate the "about:crashes" in the location bar. Can you explain this.

The only solution is uninstall firefox and reinstall. I have to do this every day as it only works until firefox hangs or closes.I'm running Vista. Never had this problem until I updated to 3.6.8 and then I kept getting java errors, so I downloaded the newest java. Now if firefox starts at all, the add ons don't work. If I uninstall and reinstall, they work temporarily until I have to close firefox.

I just upgraded my installation of FF3 to FF4 and the installation seemed to go off without a hitch.

I left the "Launch Firefox now" button ticked and hit finish. Then nothing...

I can see that the process is being started (from Task Manager), but it doesn't do anything. There is no safe mode option available for me to try and restart it, so my only option is to kill it.

I have tried installing normally, advanced, "Run as administror", restaring my PC; none of these worked. Every time the process starts, but nothing happends. Not even a task bar windows comes up.

In the end I had to download (in Internet Explorer, yuk!) an older version of Firefox (3) and reinstall using this. This at least made it work again, but I still can't get FF4 working!

I updated it on my other personal PC and it worked fine (all addons the same, but older hardware).

In case it's relevant, I have heard of some annoyances with hardware acceleration and if I could get to the option to turn it off I would.

My particular hardware is: Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU X980 @ 3.33GHz Memory: 12288MB RAM DDR3-1600MHz Hard Drive: RevoDrive X2 240GB Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580 SLI Monitor: LG M237WDP 1920*1080 Sound Card: M237WDP-1 (NVIDIA High Definition Audio) Operating System: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit (6.1, Build 7600) (7600.win7_gdr.101026-1503) Motherboard: Asus Rampage III Extreme

All drivers are up-to-date, bar my OS which is fully up-to-date bar having SP1 installed. No other application are having problems.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi. Every time I open Firefox it stays on the homepage for two seconds, then it exits and shows the "Firefox has crashed" window. Usually, I can restart the program in Safe Mode and then it works just fine, but I can't be on Safe Mode forever! I've tried restarting my computer, resetting Firefox, searching the Support site for answers, but nothing works. My version is 14.0.1 and it's up to date.

This is getting really annoying, help please?

For the last couple of days, Firefox has been acting strangley. It doesn't crash and need to be closed, it is just a lot of Micro crashes. Every time I change a tab, refresh a page, click on anything, do anything, Firefox stops working for about 10-20 seconds, sometimes shorter, sometimes longer. When it happens, I get a message at the top saying (Not Responding) untill it fixes it self later.

I had been quite happy with Firefox, but if this problem can't be fixed, I will be forced to find an alternative, which I dont like the sound of. Any help would be appreaciated...

I've been using Firefox 3.6.x and 4.0.x beta side-by-side without problems, using separate profiles and the -no-remote startup option.

Until recently, when I installed Minefield. Now both Minefield and Beta are crashing almost immediately after startup. For a long time, both have been crashing automatically after the startup pages finished loading.

Now Minefield seems a tiny bit more stable and only crashes as soon as I interact with it (switching active tab, resize window, load an URL). Another difference I notice is that Minefield (4.0b7pre) no longer checks for plugin compatibility, while Beta (4.0b5) still does this. After this check, Beta gives an error "The operation can not be completed because of an internal failure. A secure network communication has not been cleaned up correctly", while Minefield just starts.

All versions work fine in Save mode, even after the "The operation can not be completed" error in Beta...

I've also tested with newly created profiles, but did not see anything different there.

Hi

Firefox 8

I am having trouble with firefox constantly crashing, I can be fine for a few hours but then all of a sudden it crashes. Happens alot when on gmail. A crash report isn't always generated depending on the crash.

Sometimes I get "Firefox has stopped working" the generic windows crash alert, when it crashes like this it doesn't generate a crash report.

I have provided a crash ID's from the times it actually asked me to submit an error report.

I would like to downgrade to firefox 7, can anybody offer any guidelines on how to do this.

Thanks

Mathew Chapman

Recently (maybe since v14) the firefox starts to crash every time i close it. I debugged and found it can be solved if i don't install a certain extension or if i reset the preference by removing the preference directory. But when updated to 15.0, the firefox repeats the problem again and again, even it runs in the safe mode without any extension or i remove the .mozilla/ directory in my home directory totally. In addition, i tried to uninstall and reinstall firefox, but the problem remains. Any one shares the same problem or has any suggestion? thanks a lot.

My OS info opensuse 12.1 kernel linux 3.1.10-1.16 gnome 3.2.1
