I'm using Firefox 19 Beta (fully updated) on Mac OS 10.8.2 (also fully updated). I recently reinstalled the OS, and before I had, I was using the same version of Firefox. Before the reinstall, Firefox was using notification center for all notifications. I used to have Growl installed, but uninstalled it after Firefox added Notification Center support. Now, after the reinstall, Firefox is not showing up under my list of Notification Center applications. Does anyone have any idea how to get Firefox to show up in Notification Center? I have googled around with no success.

Thanks for your help!

I am having the same problem this person was having but their solution did not work for me: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/949032?esab=a&as=aaq

The mouse pointer flickers between pointer and hand when hovering over hyperlinks.

I'm running OSX 10.8.2, Firefox 18.0.2, Java to Version 7 Update 13. I tried solving the problem by uninstalling Java, turning off Caret Browsing, turning off hardware acceleration in FF but nothing has worked. The problem even happens with Firefox in Safe Mode.

Any help would be appreciated.

I'm running Firefox 18.0.1 in Mac 10.8.2, but I've had this problem in other versions too. I need FF to run in 32-bit mode, because I often use Google Voice, which requires that. I've already gone to the information window for the application and checked the box that says "Open in 32-bit mode." Seems like that should solve the problem. But it doesn't. Every time I open FF and log in to Gmail, I get a message saying it uses plug-ins that can only run in 32-bit mode, and asking if I want to restart in 32-bit mode. If I just want to check my email it's fine, but if I want to use Google Voice I have to restart the browser. That's annoying, given that there already is a setting for starting in 32-bit mode, and that I've already selected it. Is that setting non-functional, or is there some way to make it actually work?

Why does Shockwave Flash add-on prevent multiple clicks in a field?

Using Firefox 19.0 and Shockwave Flash 11.6.602.167 (11.6.r602). Mac OSX 10.8.2.

Problem is that I can left-click once in a field and enter data, but if I click a second time, the field will no longer accept input. I have to click outside the field first, and then I can click inside the field to continue entering data.

For example, I click inside a field to enter my user ID. But if I move the mouse back to the first character and then left-click, it will not allow me to enter data. Disabling Shockwave resolves the problem.

This problem occurs on two separate machines - Macbook Pro and Macbook Air.

I upgraded to Mountain Lion (10.8.3). Firefox 20 now floods my system log with CGContextSaveGState and CGContextTranslateCTM errors. And when I say floods, I mean floods! I'm getting three messages every second. It does not matter what website I got to. I can open even a local file and it does this.

The performance of FF and my overall system is somewhat degraded. However, I cannot use FF as long as it floods my logs.

I've tried switching from 19 to 20beta and back, clearing the .rdf file referenced in other threads, turning off hardware acceleration, completely uninstalling and reinstalling firefox, and anything else I could think of to no avail.

Problem with the usage of shared objects (cookies) on a website

Hi,

I'm trying to use a music player on my website with an auto-resume function that makes it play continuously while browsing the site.

I found xspf player and it works great on most browsers and also this website with a completely different music player http://www.vintagesworld.be/scriptbaseVoorbeelden/sound/test.php works great. Click on "test linkje" to go to another page with the music continuing.

But somehow on Firefox (and safari) on the mac is doesn't work. The music plays but starts all over from the start when browsing.

In windows, no problem at all. On chrome on the mac no problem also.

But Firefox doesn't seem to handle the shared object right.

On a suggestion by someone else I did try a different flash movie with shared objects, but without the music function on the same page. And that did work fine. I did get a message that asked me if I wanted to save information (the shared object) to my computer. And here is the strange thing, after that also the music player worked great.

But when I delete my browser history and also the cookies, I'm back to the old problem.

Any idea what could be wrong?
