Windows XP, Firefox, all updates. Neither Laptop or Desktop will automatically sync, I have to request sync to update bookmarks, and then I have to enter username, password, and then go find my key. I do not believe sync was intended to be so cumbersome, how do I make it run smoothly? I do cleanups regularly. Thank you.

I've had to replace my C:\ and want to pull my Bookmarks from Sync. I presume that using Sync, actually stores my Bookmarks etc. in the cloud somewhere, so how do I go about pulling them back down out of the cloud to sync with my "new" computer?

I've also upgraded the OS from Win XP to Win 7

I created a sync account on my old laptop 3 weeks ago. I got a new laptop this week and I'm trying to get all of my old bookmarks and passwords. I am trying to sync the new laptop, but it isn't pulling in anything from the old account. I don't have a recovery key. Is there anything I can do?

I set up Sync on a Linux Mint os. I had to go back to Windows 7 os. Once I set up Firefox on the new os, I tried to recover the data from Sync, but I couldn't access it. I have my Recovery Key.

I had to format my HDD and reinstall everything. Previously I had set up Firefox Sync so I could retrieve all my bookmarks and whatnot. When I put in the 3 part code to retrieve said data, it gives me an error saying "Please try again." No error code or explanation, just that. Originally, the servers were having issues so I decided that was the issue. But now that the servers are in normal condition, it still gives me the same error.

Hi, I followed the instructions to alter security to allow downloads from this site, but the box is still inert. Nothing happens when I click on "allow" or "x" to close it. I already restarted the computer. I'm trying to install firefox on my iPhone 4S. Thanks.

The reason for not working of firefox sync was: like show, I had toe install fire on both devices first. Then. When I wanted to sync. I got two diffent codes on both the machine. So how could I fill in de code for sync on both my phone and pc when they were allready filled in. No I get the answere that Ik cant use sync no more for reasons Im not quillty ot doing? Neither did I change the key. I never even knew I had one. Better to use chrome? Perhaps?

I had to reinstall windows, but before doing it i specifically checked if i was logged in with my firefox account and if sync options was on. after i reinstalled latest version of firefox and loged in, nothing happened! im logged in but there is nothing of my data!

I'm just trying to keep on top of my electronic security.

I would like to be able to see a list of all the devices that are authorized to synchronize with the Firefox Sync. I want to make sure that no other devices have been set up to sync that I am unaware of. While I understand the process of adding a device is relatively secure, it does not prevent someone with local access to a machine to set up a device I do not know of in my absence. I don't anticipate this has occurred, but would like to check to be sure.

Does such a feature exist? either how many devices are authorized, or what date devices were added, or by a history according to IP address of successfully authorized synching operations?

If such a feature does not exist, it would be simple to implement it and I would greatly encourage a feature to be made available.

Was not able to retrieve all my passwords, bookmarks, add-on and others. When it was retrieving, I mistakenly pressed on the "sync now". How can I retrieve all those things?

I am setting up syncing between a few computers and I am wondering if syncing passwords is safe.

It is my understanding that when syncing passwords, they are first decrypted using the master password, then encrypted using the Sync key and sent on the server. After retrieving them on another device they are decrypted using the Sync key and then encrypted using the master password of that device. So they are not saved in clear text anywhere and it would appear that they are safe against someone getting access to any of my devices or to the sync server.

However, I see one possible way of getting the passwords. Let's suppose someone gets access to one of my devices. Then, they can go to the Sync tab in the Options and click on Pair a device. Using a device of their own, without a master password (or with their own), they get device syncing code and enter it on my device. Then, on their device, they have access to my passwords.

Am I right? Is such a thing possible? Wouldn't it be better to use the same master password on all devices to make such an attack impossible?

I have found this on synch-logging : https://philikon.wordpress.com/2011/06/16/aboutsync-log/ and my guess is that is out of date. I a few references to things that could be about logging in about config similar to the above; however I am confused. The real problem is frequently get: "Synch encountered an error while syncing: Unknown error". I thought I would see if logging would give me any clues. I really like synch and it does work for me. I wanted an idea of whether "Unkown" was a transient network type error or "were busy" try back later etc. In my case, I only synch bookmarks to 2 other computers. A schedule of once a day works for me, with the option to synch now.

The first time I setup sync I selected to only sync my bookmarks - nothing else, but immediately it is listing my desktop tabs on my Android phone under "synced tabs".

I really want only bookmarks to pass to my mobile and no other data browser data. How can I ensure that?

Just recently installed Firefox 18.0.2 (to SD Card) on my HTC Evo Shift, Android 2.3.4.

- Successfully setup Sync on my Windows XP SP3 desktop, Firefox 18.0.2. - Setup sync on my Android, entered code, synced, etc. - Sync data never shows up on my Android. - Successfully setup Sync on remote desktop PC, Windows XP SP3, Firefox 18.0.2 - WORKS PERFECT!! - Master passwords are turned off. - Setup of remote desktop was after Android sync not working as a way to test if sync data and sync server was working OK for my sync account.

Have deleted Android device and re-paired. Have removed sync data and replaced (Sync All Now).

I have 20mb free on phone memory (almost always says low memory). Have NOT tried installing Firefox to phone (internal) memory. FYI, still using Dolphin Browser but would like to delete once my sync data comes over.

Any assistance or advice is appreciated. FWIW, I'm an IT guy and have been through almost all the posts and troubleshooting steps.

When I got my laptop a month a few weeks ago I successfully synced it with my desktop. Since I have updated my desktop bookmarks. I am going on vacation and tried to update my sync so my laptop has all my new bookmarks from my desktop. It wasn't working so I tried via my desktop and now i just synced with my laptop and my desktop has all my old book marks. I need to recoup my bookmarks from 4/9/13. Can you please help!!!

i have synced data with my work place computer. i have lot of personal information in my home computer. here i have a question is can my company network admins track my info. plz help me in this.

The main feature that attracts me in Firefox for Android is the ability to synch my Bookmarks with the desktop browser. It does synch the Bookmarks, however, the folder tree of the Desktop Bookmarks is completely messed up and out of order compare to the desktop browser, which makes it difficult to find what I need. It happens both on my tablet and my phone. And there is no option to edit the bookmarks (move them in the proper position). Why is it happening, and is there any way fix this?

In "Set up Sync" Window, "Create a new account" then server: "Select a custom server" -> No field displayed to input server URL. It may be relevant that I get an "unable to read from file" message from FF at startup time.
