This reproducibly happens when I open a private window, then log in to Gmail. It will automatically switch back to the non-private windows about 5 seconds after pressing the sign in button (and I'm not pressing any other buttons or moving the mouse). But it doesn't only happen with gmail; it happens with any normal website (but I can't pinpoint exactly when).

Is there a way to either completely disable this check, or allow a global pass for all websites?

I am aware that I can add individual websites by clicking the icon in the location bar and telling it to always load plugins to that particular site, however for the particular project I am configuring firefox for this is unfortunately not an option - if I can't turn this off I will need to look into other browser options which would be an incredible pain as right now the setup is perfected minus this one point.

I have had a look in the about:permissions page and the only option there for Plugins is 'Allow' or 'Always ask'. I have this set to allow but clearly that the above warning is not influenced by this.

I was able to disable Private Window options that appear in menus and buttons by locating the right controls in browser.xul and adding the disabled="true" attribute to each tag. I was also able to prevent about:privatebrowsing from being used for this purpose by doing something similar to aboutPrivateBrowsing.xhtml, but I still had the New Private Window task in my jump list. The only way I saw to eliminate that option was to completely disable the task list by setting browser.taskbar.lists.tasks.enabled to false. Then after finding and deleting the appropriate jumplist file from Windows' CustomDestinations folder, I now didn't have New Tab or New Window, either. These are a lot of hoops to jump through! We need a better way: give us an about:config option called browser.privatebrowsing.enabled with a default value of true, which when set to false would disable the entry point to the Private Browsing mode, even for the taskbar jumplist.

Hopefully some kind person can help!

Recently all my passwords that I have used for some time were available in web pages to assist logging in.

Today I only seem to have three listed, non of which are very important to me...but the rest are.

I have looked to see if there is a backup profile but cannot readily see one.

Questions: 1. Why has the profile gone missing? 2. Is all lost? 3. As there are a lot of passwords can the situation be recovered? 4. Did I have to manually set up Firefox to backup profiles? I must admit to assuming (dangerous, I know) that Firefox would keep a backup. There do seem to be some folders under Profiles: jsjmn1ws.default and also jsjmn1ws.def that both contain key3.db although the latter is quite old (2011 compares to file date 18/05/2013 for the current Key3.db with the duff info therein)

I have also used the savedpasswordeditor by daniel.dawson latterly today as a temporary measure and that comes up with the same results.

Any help to recover or prevent this happening again would be appreciated.

I want to start using the 'Master Password' feature. There are a couple of hundred 'stored' passwords in the Options-Security-Saved Passwords tab so I'm wondering if it would be best to delete ALL of these before setting up a Master Password. I will be changing and deleting several of the 'stored' passwords anyway. But my main question is whether or not the 'Master Password' would encrypt All of the existing 'stored' passwords and what if they have already been comprised by surfing anyway??

In my company's internet it is problematic to use https. However firefox always defaults to https connections (e.g. when making a google search from the search toolbar, or when typing an address bar starting with "www"); therefore always bringing up an "This Connection is Untrusted" alert page and making me have to manually go to the address bar and changing the "https" to "http". In Google Chrome and Internet Explorer it is very easy to set the browser to use http instead of https. However, I can't seem to find this option in firefox. Any ideas?

I have been experiencing this problem for a few weeks now and I've been searching the internet for an answer but I cant find any information about it anywhere. Basically this is what happens:

1. I'll go to some webpage, it doesn't matter which page or what website its on, it seems to happen randomly from time to time. 2. I'll notice that when I mouse-over any of the links on the page that the mouse doesn't turn into the little pointing finger, the mouse just continues to look like the regular arrow. 3. The first click I make ANYWHERE on the page will cause an ad to open up in another tab and it will switch to that tab. 4. I close the tab and go back to my original tab and the page works normally now.

I have removed or disabled all suspicious looking addons, and I have also uninstalled a program that looked suspicious. I also ran a scan with Malwarebytes and it found a few 'infections' but the problem persists even after removing them. I know that the ads aren't part of the pages I visit. For example I was filling out a job application for Del Taco or something and I had this problem on one of the pages. Also I run a website and it even happens on my own website sometimes! Also just today Firefox randomly shutdown for no reason at all, one second I'm watching a Youtube video, the next second and looking at my desktop. No error, no nothing. I restarted Firefox and It gave me the "Well this is embarrassing" page. Any help would be greatly appreciated. BTW I'm using Windows 7 64 bit

Not really a problem, as such.. but something that is a little annoying.

The Override Auto Cache Management option doesn't seem to work properly, unless what is happening SHOULD be happening?

Basically, by default it is set to 75Mb.. I'll set it to around 350-400Mb. However, at random intervals, Firefox will default the settings back to 75Mb, out of the blue. No warning or anything.

Why does is keep defaulting back to 75Mb? I have also changed the option using About:Config with the 'browser.cache.disk.capacity' option. but it still defaults back to 75Mb.

Is there anything I could be doing wrong? Another setting that needs to be changed? Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

This refers to the Plugins section and the updating option. In two previous versions of Firefox the plugins check tells me I need to update to a specific version of Adobe Reader, despite the fact I have laready done so. Does this mean Firefox is vulnerable, or Reader? Is it a problem or just a software glitch. Bearing in mind the complexity of Reader (which I need for work related reasons) I hope this doesn't indicate a serious issue rather than a transient one.
