Firefox (v. 18.0.1) will not run my school programs any more since the Java scare. It also is choking at running screencast-o-matic.

And this is happening on both my computers not just one.

I have emptied Java cache, emptied the browser caches, downloaded the latest Java, Reinstalled it. Cleared caches again, etc., etc., etc.

Firefox will not run Java and I have to use IE which is the only browser that I have gotten the scripts to function so that I can use my programs.

After the banner appears, I click on Allow and it goes to my old ATT/YAHOO site and says "Sorry, the page you were looking for could not be found". Because of this, I cannot send any emails with my new provider, ATMC.

I recently upgraded two Macbooks from Leopard (10.5) to Snow Leopard (10.6). With just one of the laptops, now when I type in text boxes (not the ones that seem to specify a font in their style), like the body of an email in Outlook Web Access or the body of a message using a web form, the font is in italics. The other laptop is fine. Note that this doesn't happen in Safari or Chrome, only Firefox. I started with Firefox 16 and moved to 18 - that did not solve the problem (so I didn't bother with an uninstall since 18 was a clean install). I opened up my version 12 and the problem wasn't there, so it is only with later versions.

Also - this is not where everything is italics, like in other posts. It is only in text boxes.

I have tried resetting my font settings in Firefox, replacing the Arial font on the laptop with the one from the other laptop, and clearing the font cache. I installed the fontinfo addon, and it shows the same font used as the other laptop - nothing weird.

What can I do to make Firefox act correctly like it does on the other laptop?

I can minimize the Firefox window, but *unless* I minimize it, I can't access other programs-- even if I click on a window behind the Firefox window or try clicking on the appropriate icon from the Windows taskbar. The Firefox window stays in front.

I'm using Firefox 18.0; I am on the update release channel. My enabled add-ons are:

Adblock Plus Pop-up Addon 0.5 BetterPrivacy 1.68 Flashblock 1.5.15.1 RAMBack 1.0

and I have no toolbars installed. The only other thing I've recently installed is Amazon Cloud Drive-- but again, this problem is specifically and only with the Firefox window.

I had to go back to ver.18 because the plugin container hangs in ver. 19 & 20, and it was worse in 20. also in ver. 20 there was an exe named plugin contain hang ui. to keep Firefox running even at a crawl I had to keep forcing the plugin container to close. I also do not like the fact that my bookmarks can no longer be found which forces me to go through the bookmarks mgr to back them up. I also kept looking for my downloads and finally found them in the library. Is there some way to simplify the browser like it used to be.

When I am opening some websites some double underlined blue color words are appearing. How can I remove those line? Give me the suggestion plz. I am getting so irritated from those lines.

Ever since I updated firefox 2 days ago it has a problem restarting. When I close the firefox window it closes like it normally does but whenever I try to restart firefox it shows the notification that firefox is still running and I first need to shutdown the previous process before I can start a new one. At last after I manually shutdown the firefox process it will restart again.

How can I permanently disable the click-to-run "feature" for all plug-ins *including* ones that are unsafe, exploitable, etc.?

I know that this is "unsafe", "inadvisable", a "security risk", etc. however this question has been asked many times and I have not yet found an answer. My reason for wanting to do so is not important and there is no point in questioning it; this is a simple question with what should be a simple answer, and does not require the bickering and arguing that always ensues when someone asks this extraordinarily basic question.

I want to permanently disable any and all forms of click-to-run for any and all plugins, so that all plugins run without having to be clicked first and show absolutely no warnings whatsoever of any kind. If I don't want to run a plug-in I will disable it.

How can I do this very simply thing?

I get the following message:the ordinal 459 could not be located in the dynamic link library. urlmon.dll. I get this when requesting list links within a genealogy program (not on the internet) Haven't noticed it on anything else yet because I have been obsessing over just that one program. At the same time I notice that my windows sidebar is not visible. Have not changed any settings. Java was disabled due to the recent exploitation. Would that have something to do with it. Or perhaps Firefox18 installed and then it went bad? Thanks in advance for any help. Running Vista.

Using it daily for the past many years and just suddenly doesn't work since few days ago. error message is "An error occurred while uploading" when attaching file (less 100KB). Using Window XP and latest Firefox 18.0.1. Tried reset Firefox, still doesn't work. Luckily IE8 is working. So have to use IE8 now.

If I type a search in the address bar, I am automatically transferred to google. Can this be changed or am I stuck with google? I know I can select one in the upper right. Thank you.

For the last 3 months, I have had a major problem with Firefox taking forever to startup my home page. After the initial startup , all websites load fine. So here is what I have tried. I have cleared temp files, cache and etc... I have tried the dns prefetching. I have tried changing the value in the about config option. I have changed my profile to a clean new fresh one with no history or bookmarks. I have disabled plugins and restarted in safe mode. I have updated all existing plugins/ add ons.I have deinstalled and reinstalled Firefox ( I have the latest version) I have tried Pale Moon and Internet Explorer. Both are slow but Internet Explorer seems to be the fastest right now. I have done a restore point to a time before major updates when the problem first started. I have tried all changes recommended in the aboutconfig: option. I have scanned with numerous adware and antivirus programs and nothing turns up. I have contacted my service provider (ATT Uverse) and everything of course checks out on their end. I suspect there is something with their particular server they have me on because that is the only thing in common with the browsers. Any other suggestions?

Flash just started causing Firefox to freeze (not crash, therefore; no crash id's (Correction Below)). It was working fine until an hour or two ago. Also, Firefox now freezes on other sites. This just started less then 30 mintues ago. It seems, there are a few ways to 'temporarily' fix the issue, but it always occurs again immediately. First, if I use task manager to end the Adobe Flash process, Firefox unfreezes. Second, as far as it freezing on other sites, the only way to unfreeze Firefox is to end task on the Plugin Container for Firefox process.

I find it weird that this just started happened with no cause. I have not made any changes to my computer in months (neither software nor hardware wise) and I know I don't have any virus' or the like as I keep that very well in check.

As far as what I have done to 'attempt' fixing this issue, I have already tried updating Flash, downgrading Flash to 10.3, upgrading Flash back to 11.x. Restarting Firefox, rebooting the computer, booting into safe-mode, running Firefox in Safe-Mode, uninstalling & reinstalling Firefox (with a reboot in between). Nothing has fixed this issue. Any help would be very much appreciated.

P.S. I have no issues of any kind in IE, Chrome, nor Opera so I know this is a Firefox issue.

P.P.S. Checked about:crashes and found that Firefox actually made crash information on the flash plugin (but don't see one on the plugin container issue). Anyways, it was throttled so sent it on. Here is the information on that;

Keep in mind, this was before I reinstalled Firefox, no new entries since reinstall.

iMac running Snow Lepard 10.6.8, all bookmarks are currently in Camino browser and Camino isn't functioning any more. It's a Mozilla browser so why isn't a choice to import from into Firefox? Or is there another way to access my Camino bookmarks?
