I believe I am seeing this old bug (https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=449219) in Firefox ESR v10.0.3. Could this be a regression or new version of the same bug? Or is the ESR build separate from the normal trunk releases and could this bug not have been patched onto the ESR branch?

I see that for the issue:

<Add-on> could not be installed because Firefox cannot modify the necessary file.

The usual fixes include: - ensuring that xpinstall.enabled is set to true - ensuring that extensions.alwaysUnpack is set to true

What might be the non-usual fixes as I have set both to true and I still get the message above.

I have tried installing the <add-on> after I have set the values to true, then again after restarting my browser, then again after restarting my computer and finally tried creating a new profile and repeated each of the steps after setting the 2 preferences to true.

Hi! My name is Artur and I'm providing a Firefox 3.6.3 solution on thin clients. This solution displays a webpage automatically. Some thing as a "attendance service manager". I'm running Firefox on a Debian Squeeze OS. Question: Concerning about "about:config" and "prefs.js" (last one, mainly) tweaks, I would like to know if there's a solution to allow opening a Firefox session on full screen and to disable about:sessionrestore window. Problem: Several equipments have opened several tabs before (re)initializing. By the way, any prefs.js tweaks will help a lot!

Sorry by my english skills. They're not so accurate.

Artur

I am trying to use javascript to capture a combination of a mouseover event occurring(hovering over a screen control like a button) along with the CTRL-key being pressed at the same time. So far I only seem to be able to get the javascript to work properly for the page I'm testing with when using IE. When I try to test with the same page using Firefox v. 10.0.3 the javascript can't seem to successfully capture the event of the CTRL-key being pressed. So my ultimate question is what's the best way to capture separate keyboard and mouse event combinations which occur at the same time? I want the javascript function(s) I'm trying to code to only react when I mouse over a control at the exact same time that I'm pressing the CTRL-key. Thanks for the help.

I'm part of an enterprise considering using Firefox ESR, but which may also continue to have some installations of non-ESR firefox. Is there a way to quickly and reliably identify whether a user is using regular or ESR firefox when viewing network/surfing activity in various management and/or security tools?

The user agent string doesn't seem to be of help, since both esr and non-esr firefox may show up as 10.x (or 17.x or 24.x in future releases).

Thank you!

I changed my GMail password and I tried accessing it from Firefox 10.0.3. I got the "This connection is untrusted" message, so I tried to "Add Exception" (I had to install SkipCertError to do this). When I click "Get certificate" and "Confirm Security Exception" on the next window, the window closes and nothing happens. I tried restarting Firefox, and trying to go to GMail again, but I keep getting the untrusted connection, even though I've added the exception. I cannot access any of Google's sites now (Gmail, G+, even Google itself).

I run the test center for a very large school district with over 120k students. We've got a current deployed base of 54k client machines using Firefox 3.6. We haven't upgraded due to multiple reasons, the most important of which is removing the possibility of using In Private Browsing from the students, and dealing with plugin-updates for the non digital natives (read dumber than a bag of hammers users) that make up the majority of the client base.

We're testing ESR now, but just found out that end of life for 3.6 is tomorrow, 4/24. We are currently in the middle of statewide online testing. The question is, what will happen tomorrow when the browser goes end of life. The ESR wiki mentions that "an update to the current version of Desktop Firefox will be offered through the Application Update Service"

So the main question is, are my students/teachers going to get a popup telling them they have to update the browser if we have the updates already turned off? If so, can I turn it off remotely using SCCM, because it will cause all kinds of havoc.

Please advise asap, and thanks in advance.

As a result, I'm looking at large grayed out areas that I assume are videos which I cannot view. I have done many searches to figure out what plugin to add. Part of the problem is that while my HTC Thunderbolt's screen is larger than most, it's still difficult to do exhaustive searching. I have Flash Player but reading tells me that Firefox doesn't support that. Under a related question, I used their example of http://ditzy.com.mortgagerefinance (that's just a close recall of address) but it successfully showed the gray box. That was where I first put this question but was corrected & told to start a new question. Here it is! I have added picture viewing apps, everything recommended following searches. I should have made a list of those additions that have made no difference. I think it may be a Java issue & need to address that issue. That's enough to start on. Hope you can help as this is driving me crazy. Bye,S
