Support for enablePrivilege has been removed in Firefox (Bug 546848), so it is no longer possible to get special elevated privileges by using this method.

If a web page (or local html page) is using this then they will have to use other ways get what they want like providing a Firefox extension.

Where is it possible to find an exension of this kind (if it exists)?

I've read countless articles on how to fix this problem, however, the problem continues. I seem to have some sort of permanent Caret Browsing on this browser. I've gone into about:config and turned it true/false and the problem still remains. I have no idea how to fix this problem. Also, regardless of pressing ctrl + f7, nothing pops up, even when it's turned on to do so. It's incredibly annoying and I'd like help with fixing this issue immediately before my poor keyboard breaks due to my frustration.

My homepage is my.yahoo.com. When starting FF the homepage tab appears PLUS an additional New Tab. Any ideas on how I get just the homepage at start-up? (prevent FF from opening the additional New Tab)

Firefox doesn't open, though it opens once in a while. It shows in task manager and takes up 50% CPU usage, and ending process and retrying doesn't work. Profile manager doesn't open either. There's no error message, and have restarted laptop (Windows XP) many times, but no results.

Help would be appreciated!

I use Firefox (V11.0) on a Mac OS X (V10.6.8). I have a persistent problem with Youtube. When I view a video, I may get the message: "An error occurred. Please try again later".

The frequency of this problem varies from day to day. Sometimes, it happens to almost every video, and sometimes, it rarely happens; sometimes, "reloading" it once or twice, the video begins to play, and sometimes, it never plays no matter how many times I reload it.

I also have Safari (V5.1.4) on my machine, and it does not have the above problem.

Could you let me know how to resolve the problem with Firefox?

Since updating to Adobe Reader 10.1.3, I noticed Firefox 11 does not display PDF files. It just shows a blank screen.

The only workaround I found is disabling the Adobe Acrobat NPAPI Plug-in (ver. 10.1.3) the update installs. Firefox will prompt which application to use.Choosing Preview allows the PDFs to display correctly.

Neither Chrome or Safari exhibit this behavior, nor does Firefox 11 (Windows) with the update installed.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Hi, Somehow, Babylon toolbar and search provider got installed. And now I want to get rid of it. So, 1) I uninstalled it from "add or remove programs" in the control panel 2) cleared out the "add-ons" from all the browsers and even 3) searched the registry for "Babylon" and deleted all the traces of it 4) searched C: drive for the keyword "Babylon" and deleted all the folders

But still to my surprise, the search results of about:home in Firefox 11.0 came out of "Babylon"

This is for information purposes. I installed Acrobat plug in today 10.1.3 and I get a blank tab when trying to open a pdf document in Firefox 11.0. This plug in works in Safari. I disabled the plug in in Firefox and installed the extension PDF viewer 0.2.537 form Mozilla and documents open fine. Just wanted to let someone know1.3

In what seems like a relentless update/upgrade competition with the "other" browsers, Firefox 11 is NOW not playing nice with Shockwave Flash, or is it vice-versa. This didn't start happening until I "upgraded" to Firefox 11.0

YES, I've updated ALL the plugins (Who invented this plug-in hassle, anyway?), as is ABSOLUTELY required whenever Firefox goes through one of its myriad of updates/upgrades. I've uninstalled/reinstalled Flash, and my WinXP Pro is up-to-date. I haven't experienced this torrential headache with IE 8.0, OR before F-11.

Is there a Firefox 11.0.0.1.2.3.4 patch in-the-works, or do I have to consider one of the "others"? HELP ME!

I checked my plug-in and was told the Google Earth Plugin was outdated. I clicked on the "Update" option but nothing happened. Usually when I clicked on that option, it'll open the developer's website so I can proceed the update. But this one just sat there and nothing happened. So how could I update this plug-in?

My home page is the Firefox default page with the Google searchbar. I like getting occasional messages from Firefox when I log in so I don't want to change my homepage. However, when I use the searchbar on my homepage only, I get the unsatisfactory AVG Secure Search results.

UPDATE: I now realize all the troubleshooting information I included in my original question appears under the "More System Details" link next to the question, not in the body of the question. I have copied it here to make it easier to see what I have already done to try to solve the problem, as well as describe the one clue I have that may be relevant:

I have tried all the fixes on various threads, but my about:config is now pristine (no avg or isearch mentions; keyword.url is default). Closest solution is that at https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/866327 , which requires changing my home page.

Oddly, AVG Secure Search is not a problem when I use the Google toolbar or search from the Google website, only when I use the search bar that appears on my home (start) page. This is true even when I return to my home page--if I search from the Google search bar in the middle of the page, I get sent to AVG Safe Search. (isearch.avg.com).

I read in one thread a suggestion to delete my chromeappsstore.sqlite file in my Profile folder. As promised, Firefox created a new one when I restarted it; however, the search bar in the middle of my home home page did not work at all. Tried this three times before restoring my original.

I do not have an application that will open a sqlite file, but I tried doing so in Excel and found a cell containing the following:

I have no clue what that means, but it is the only thing I can find related to Firefox that still mentions AVG and isearch.avg.com.

At this point my best guess (but it is a guess) is that the chromeappsstore.sqlite file is a key to the complete solution, but I do not have enough knowledge to go beyond and address it. I appreciate any help you anyone can offer.

For the past month, maybe longer, Firefox has been extremely slow. The videos are also delayed. I have used firefox for many years and now I am disappointed with this browser. I cleared the cache and cookies, twice within a week. No improvement. I've been using Safari for my videos, but all my bookmarks are on firefox. How can we fix this problem? Whats going on ??

Suddenly Can't Open PDFs in Firefox. Starting about three days ago firefox will no longer open any PDFs. I get a blank page in a new tab. Nice timing, with finals and everything where I need to view PDFs of practice tests.

Before I begin, I would like to say that I have the current version of Adobe Flash, and that all other websites that require flash work just fine (YouTube, Facebook, A few other video sites, Pandora, etc)

Whenever I try to play something on the myspace video player, it displays a message something along the lines of "Flash is unavailable for playback. Your Flash version is: 11.2.202 To proceed, try the following:Refreshing the Page, Restarting your Browser, Upgrading your Flash Player"

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Flash (both the software and the plugin), and Firefox with no avail. Right now, I have to use IE to play anything off of myspace and it pisses me off, simply because I hate IE (I don't use Chrome, and who doesn't hate IE?)

My system specs are: Athlon II 2.6Ghz quad core 4gb of RAM ATI Radeon HD 4550 512mb DDR3 Graphics Card

Problem: Java plugin works in IE 9 (32 bit), does not work in firefox. Does not show up in list of plugins when entering about:plugins in address bar. It was working until an automatic Java update. What I have tried: - Uninstalled all java programs in windows control panel and then installed java version 6 update 31 (32 bit). - have reinstalled firefox (twice now). - Selected Mozilla family in java browser options in windows control panel. still no java plugin shows up in firefox plugin manager. - Clicking on the "check to see if your plugins are up to date" link takes me to page that says java is missing and following "upgrade to latest version" link goes to a java update page, however the update fails to install (EULA page doesn't even load). - Downloaded offline install file (jre-6u31-windows-i586-s) and tried that, but still nothing. - Checked programs in windows control panel and only the current 32 bit version of java shows up there. No Mozilla based browser works (firefox, opera etc). Now what? I really kind of need this working but I don't know where to go from here? Thanks

I always used Firefox 11 without problems due to plugins (just my crappy hardware), but when I updated to newer version of Flash Player, nothing worked anymore on Firefox, but in Chrome everything goes perfect. I've also tried to reinstall the plugin, the stable and also the beta version, using Flash-Aid but nothing worked. Is there another solution to fix this issue?

Script quits working - this is when multiple tabs are open and I go to close one. First, I have to click to close the tab multiple times before it closes, then a 'new tab' opens on it's own. The script error reads Script: chrome://browser/content/tabbrowser.xml:1644 I have to then close the window, reopen it, and then all previous tabs open, and yet another 'new tab' opens. None of my tabs are closing with one click, all need two or more before they close. I love Firefox and have used for years, this really must be fixed.

I later downloaded the Active X version 11.1.102.63 but the same thing keeps happening,its impossible to watch movies or tv shows,my yahoo email is non functioning because of continuous plugin crashes,Cnn Youtube the same problem,any site that uses flash content just the plugin crashes,its non stop. Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2 32 bit,1.80 GBz,224 MB ram Avast free version 7.0.1407 Firefox 11

If I restart my browser everthing works just fine for at least 5 minutes. When I watch several youtube videos, the lag comes back and the video starts to freeze aboud every second for just a faction of a second. The sound is stil played properly it only affects the graphics... After about 10 minutes watching videos the whole browser gets laggy . Sometimes when I type the fonts appear only about a second later. Scrolling is also affected. Some minutes later everything is back to normal but it't not allways like that?!

I don't know what to do, I allready restarted with add-ons disabled but I didn't notice any difference. The drivers of my ati graphics card are up-to-date and I only have the problem with firefox, chrome works perfectly.
