Suddenly, since the latest update (20.0.1) my right-click menu is terribly LONG. It's filled with things that seem useful, but are not to be and are not necessary at all. E.g. it contains video-control options, like mute and play, go full screen.

More weird and worse above this is: absolutely nothing in that same menu works or does anything. I

Here is a screen capture of it. It is the regular menu, randomly clicked, which appears everywhere. http://s23.postimg.org/ur0zwg4bf/regrigclibar.png

What's about this? Bug? I think anyway it is broken and needs to be solved.

Chosen solution

Issues with a massive right-click context menu have been reported as caused by Firebug, so make sure to update Firebug to the latest version.

I have the most recent Firebug version (1.11.3) and still experienced this issue. What I did was: - disabled Firebug, - restarted Firefox (everything was fine again after doing this), - re-enabled Firebug (still fine).

Yay!

Firebug is NOT the (sole) culprit/solution. Never had it. This problem is associated with the ONLY change - Upgraded to 20 without it and got huge menu. Installed it, disabled it, re-enabled it, uninstalled it (firebug) - no change. However, it is RANDOM. when highlighting to copy/paste a non-hyperlinked text is when it happens for me - NOT on hyper-linked right-click action.

Well it could be another Extension you have installed, particularly if it is a older version of it. If you only have so many you could try disabling one at a time, especially any that has similarities to Firebug or add stuff to right-click context menu.

i have (at the time of upgrade) and now, 3: Ghostery - enabled. Microsoft net - DISABLED, Realplayer Browser Record - DISABLED. (i'm a purist), If there is a good "test" case. its me - i don't run a lot of extensions....

If it works in Safe Mode and in normal mode with all extensions (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) disabled then try to find which extension is causing it by enabling one extension at a time until the problem reappears.

Close and restart Firefox after each change via "Firefox > Exit" (Windows: Firefox/File > Exit; Mac: Firefox > Quit Firefox; Linux: Firefox/File > Quit)

  • If you have many extensions then first enable half of the extensions to test which half has the problem.
  • Continue to divide the bad half that still has the issue until you find which one is causing it.

IMPORTANT EXTRA NOTE: All of what is said above ended up helping me EVEN THOUGH I did not have Firebug in my browser. I MIGHT have had it at one point, but removed it. However, it was the cause of this problem.

I INSTALLED Firebug and then REMOVED IT and the problem was fixed!!!

No that is not the solution. That extension is for modifying normal right-click context menu and not one made broken by a extension like a older version of Firebug.
