Firefox doesn't have, and never has had an ad blocker feature built-in. Users have always needed to install an extension such as AdBlock Plus (or other) to block advertisements from appearing on webpages in Firefox. Note that AdBlock Plus also needs filters to do the "blocking", either user created filters or a filterset subsciption which will be offered to the user after the installation of AdBlock Plus.
