You did download the en-US version?

You can do a clean reinstall and delete the Firefox program folder before reinstalling a fresh copy of Firefox.

Download a fresh en-US Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.

Uninstall your current Firefox version, if possible, to cleanup the Windows registry and settings in security software.

  • Do NOT remove personal data when you uninstall your current Firefox version, because all profile folders will be removed and you will also lose your personal data like bookmarks and passwords from profiles of other Firefox versions.

Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.

Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored in the Firefox Profile Folder and won't be affected by an uninstall and (re)install, but make sure that "remove personal data" is NOT selected when you uninstall Firefox.

If you keep having problems then also create a new profile.

If you go to the Android language settings what locale is the phone set to?

Mine is for Desktop, I just downloaded it yesterday but some reason I can't change the language out of Chinese. But then again I have been using Firefox for a few years and everytime I get a new computer I have to go through the same problem- the download will AUTOMATICALLY detect the local wich is China and I won't be able to change it. So I usually have to either use an older version that doesn't support Chinese, find a 'how to' that uses pictures, or find someone who can speak English to come to my house to fix it. Although this time, I did find someone to come over and Firefox still wouldn't convert over to English- even after I went to the download that was recommended in this thread that claims to be 'English' it still installed in Chinese. Quite frustrating-

Go to Options, then go to Content, then the option near the bottom is, 'Chose your prefered Language'. Do so and it should be fine.

If you are on Firefox for Android what locale is the phone set to? Currently Firefox for Android supports several locales.

  • Czech (cs)
  • Danish (da)
  • Finnish (fi)
  • Korean (ko)
  • Italian (it)
  • Norwegian (nb-NO)
  • Dutch (nl)
  • Brazilian Portuguese (pt-BR)
  • Portuguese (pt-PT)
  • Russian (ru)
  • German (de)
  • Spanish (es-ES)
  • French (fr)
  • Japanese (ja)
  • Polish (pl)

Coming in Firefox 19

  • Chinese (zh-CN)
  • Chinese traditional (zh-TW)

We are working on increasing the number of locales we can support. We hope soon we can support all the languages present on the current Nexus devices.

I'm also having the same problem and none of these suggestions are working. Mine is only in Chinese and no matter what I do I cannot change the language- I've gone to options, I've reinstalled using the 'English' version, I've deleted the Chinese input method and still nothing. I'm currently located in China but this is getting stupid.

Is this about using Firefox on a mobile device or about Firefox on a desktop?

You can find the latest Firefox release for desktop in all languages and for all Operating Systems here:

You may need to uninstall Firefox and delete the Firefox program folder to do a clean reinstall of the desired version.

  • (32 bit Windows) C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\
  • (64 bit Windows) C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\

Do NOT remove personal data when you uninstall your current Firefox version, because all profile folders will be removed and you will also lose your personal data like bookmarks and passwords from profiles of other Firefox versions.

-_-' No dice...just tried it as you said but when I reinstalled it's still in Chinese. I'll try it once more but it may not work either...as I can't even get it to run in English.

Tried it 2 more times and nothing but Chinese still. Once I've uninstalled I've looked through the computer but never found any 'modzilla; Firefox' folders BUT once I reinstalled my password and bookmarks were still intact. So I don't know if this has something to do with it or not. As I can't actually read any of it- it does make it harder to even uninstall it.
