How can I launch Firefox?

Posted

Everytime I restart my computer, and try to open firefox it will not launch. The only time I could use it is when I unistall the program, then download it again. But every morning I have to go through this. I have AVG and constantly clear my history/cache and any existing cookies. Please help

The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information. Note: This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.

To Reset Firefox do the following:

  1. Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
  2. Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
  3. Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
  4. Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.

Further information can be found in the Reset Firefox – easily fix most problems article.

You said you can get firefox to open once, then it won't again. Open it once that one time, then reset while it's open. Or close Firefox, and hold down the Shift key while you open up Firefox. Then click Reset Firefox.

Ok I just did that thank you. One last question, will this indeed prevent it from happening again tomorrow?

This is still happening. Not sure if it is my computer or firefox itself. Yesterday and to start in safe mode and do a system restore. This morning I tried the same thing and the only program to not launch is Firefox. I will have to uninstall and install it again. Any advice as why this could be happening?

A possible cause is security software (firewall,anti-virus) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.

Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.
