The name of the line I am missing is the location bar, also called the URL bar or address bar. Firefox calls it the Awesome Bar.
When it disappeared the Bookmarks Toolbar took it's place completely. With the Bar I could see about 8 Bookmarks now I see 13. I'd really like that Awesome Bar back!
