How to force context menu google search to http?

Posted

In my previous Firefox, the Google context menu search ("search google for _____") would go to the normal Google http search results. Now it goes to an https page. How can I get it back to the http Google results page? This is important because the filter I use only works with http.

hello, first of all please Update Firefox to the latest version since firefox 15 is no longer supported & affected by numerous known security vulnerabilities.

the context menu search uses the same search engine that is currently selected in the firefox search bar - so you could install a non-ssl google search provider from http://mycroft.mozdev.org/search-engines.html?name=google&category=12 & then select that in the search bar...
