after update, firefox crashes as soon as I start everytime

Posted

Earlier I was running Firefox in Ubuntu 12.04. Due to disk errors I have replaced disk, but copied .mozilla directory. Then installed Ubuntu 12.10 and placed .mozilla directory

In ubuntu 12.10 Firefox got updated to latest version. After update it crashes as soon as I start. After updated I also tried to delete existing .mozilla directory and copy original which I backed up. After doing that It starts first it starts after checking compatibility but starts crashing next time.

Does it work if you let Firefox create a new .mozilla folder and profile folder?

Did you check the permissions for all files and folder to make sure that you have write access?

Yes it works that way when I delete .mozilla directory and start firefox again. I also tried creating new profile without creating and it works with newly created profiles. I just wanted to retain my browsing history, saved password, form data etc.
