How do I decrease the number of suggestions in the "Awesome Bar"?
Today, the location bar suddenly showed 12 sites when I start typing characters into it. Until now, it only ever showed 4. The settings only seem to let me pick whether the sites should be from Bookmarks/History/Both/Nothing.
I haven't installed any extensions lately, or updated FF at all in a long while. This is really disruptive, having it take up my whole screen. Please help me out.

by TheOldFoxAs far as I know, the default has always been 12; 6 displayed with a slide bar on the right to scroll down to 6 more. You can set a hidden preference to whatever value you choose. See article on how to use about:config -- http://kb.mozillazine.org/About:config
- type about:config in the URL/Address bar and press the Enter key
- if you see a warning, accept it (promise to be careful)
- Search = browser.urlbar.maxRichResults
- in the lower panel, double click on that item and set a numeric value for number of items
- close the about:config tab and test

The drop down will disappear as soon as you select something, so I do not find it disruptive.
Note by typing in a particular character you may restrict the results with a filter, for instance
# matches only page titles
^ History, @ Urls, * Bookmarks

I'm not interested in your opinion, John99.
Thank you for your assistance, TheOldFox.
Note that some extensions may be causing this issue that you only get a limited number of entries in the location bar drop down list.
If you have FastestFox:
- FastestFox Options > General, uncheck "Enhance Awesomebar"
