I have been running Firefox 17.x with no issues. Updated to Firefox 18 today, and it will not render a single web page. IE and Chrome work fine. Running on 64Bit Win7 Ultimate. 6 Core/16GB Ram. Latest updates for windows, as of this weeks release. I have done a complete uninstall, run both CCleaner and Norton 360 Registry cleaner to ensure previous traces removed. Reinstalled full version. Still cannot/will not render a web page. No noted activity within the browser window. No error codes to provide.

cor-el 4 months ago A possible cause is security software (firewall,anti-virus) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

jkd2020 4 months ago I have gone through the firewall config suggestions - no help. I have turned off the firewall - no help. I have cleared cache - no help. Firefox will not render a web page, yet Chrome and IE work with no issue.
I disabled plug-ins - no help.
I would really like to get firefox back on line, because I prefer it to the other options.
Any other suggestions.

cor-el 4 months ago Try to boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps.
Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
- Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
See "Creating a profile":
- http://kb.mozillazine.org/Standard_diagnostic_-_Firefox#Profile_issues
If the new profile works then you can transfer some files from an existing profile to the new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.
