bookmark toolbar sized like the new PIN tab

Posted

hi: absolutely love love the new "pin tab" feature. maybe it's not new. I just stumbled on it.

I like it's sizing. neat and compact.

my desire is to use it, but Firefox not try to open page until I click on the tab (so it's really acting as a bookmark located on my bookmark toolbar )

I don't want Firefox to try and open page as I have 9 tabs and it takes sooooo long to load ... and wastes data. I am on broadband but still 9 at once taxes my beloved Firefox

OR

if cant do above, I'd line to resize my bookmark toolbar just on left say first 10, to be the - compact neat (so no separator space) - icon only and no text

how do I do either of these?

Hi!

You can do the first by activating the 'load tabs on demand' feature in your preferences.

Go to Preferences, and then select the Tabs section. The second to last option is: "Don't load tabs until selected"

I hope this helps! Ibai

Hi Cor-el

I loved this yesterday But this morning, my PIN tabs have not persisted ALL THE TIME. In fact firefox did an update (as all my add-ons were OFF again... I thought it was a real version update. it wasnt.

so the PIN tabs disappearing is related after close firefox sown/restart, to the update add-ons

--- so now I have 1) changed update settings "preferences/advance/updates - selected - check for updates and ASK me if I want to install"

So given I had "install update automatically before I just changed it" I thien went and reactivated all my desired add-ons (I have some I dont want active as Im testing naughty CPU consuming add-ons at the moment, troublehshooting which is naughty)

THEN 2) roomy toolbar has come back all good 3) but NO PIN TABs

so why are my PIN tabs not persisting ALL THE TIME is it this toolbar you suggested? is it a configuration option i have not set?

--- also you have asked me before to go to Tool / Options... I dont have a Tool / Options

I have Preferences / Tabs or Prefrences / Advance ---

thankyou in advance

App (pinned) tabs and Tab Groups (Panorama) are stored as part of the session data in the sessionstore.js file in the Firefox profile folder.

Make sure that you do not use "Clear Recent History" to clear the "Browsing History" when Firefox is closed because that prevails and prevents Firefox from opening tabs from the previous session.

Also make sure that you do not have cleanup software that removes such data.
