how do I set home page?

the best solution i've come up with is to bookmark the page i want to use and then press that bookmark until a dialog opens that will let me add it to my home screen, and just use that icon to open ff
This is BEYOND lame! The current facility is useless, why in the world do I want to go back to the last page I was on? Who was the brain surgeon that came up with this design?
