Home page opens as shown in screen shot. I can not get rid of back window.
Can not paste screen shot. Window opens behind home page. Can not get it to the front to close it.
Chosen solution
by jscher2000Try clearing that page from the sidebar by loading your bookmarks in there (Ctrl+b) and then closing it (Ctrl+b again).
Then use the Home button to reload your home page. Does the sidebar page come back? If so, what is your home page setting under:
orange Firefox button or classic Tools menu > Options > General > Startup
If the page is not listed as a home page, I wonder whether an add-on is loading it??

Question owner
This is screen shot of home page.
Looks that you are opening that page in the sidebar.
Opening in the sidebar is the default for bookmarks that are created via a link or button on a website.
You can check the Properties of a bookmark via the right-click context menu in the sidebar (Ctrl+B; Cmd+B on Mac).
In the Bookmarks Manager (Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks) you can click the More button in the Details pane at the bottom right.
Make sure that "Load this bookmark in the sidebar" is not selected.
Question owner
The load on that bookmark is not selected. The window you see in the screen shot is all I can see. I can not bring it foward to see the More button in the Details pane on bottom right.
